Weight Watchers and Nestle (Skinny Cow) make great frozen treats that are only 100 calories. I reward myself at the end of a good day of eating by having a frozen treat. I find I can eat good all day if I know I will get a treat that evening.

Good luck! emoticon

I remember how difficult it was for me. I started buying sugar free jello and fat free cool whip. I enjoyed it for a day or two. Then I just couldn't stand it anymore and gave up the sugar for good.

Hang in there. You will find a trick that will work for you.

Hello,

It is difficult to go from eating lots of sweets to suddenly stopping altogether. In most cases, if you try to go cold turkey, you'll regress after a short period. The key is to cut back and reduce down to a decent amount. Try buying the 100 calories snacks. Even if you eat one a day, it's only 100 calories. Once you get used to this then try cutting back to a few days a week.

Good Luck!

Stop eating them as much as I can help it! Once I start, the sugar spikes begin (up/down/up/down) and it can last forever! It's amazing how much easier it is to avoid them once you know how much they take over your body.

One thing that helps me is to cut up an apple and sprinkle liberally with cinnamon. Heat till apples really soft in microwave, if this isn't quite enough to satisfy your sweet attack you can top with a bit of yogurt :) Yummy and because it is hot it takes a little longer to eat than if cold so usually this does it for me :)

Always be a first-rate version of yourself, Instead of being the second.

I traded my snack foods to fruit. Most of the time a juicy piece/serving of fruit does it for me.

Good luck!

I agree with that strategy. I love sweets too and have this problem all the time. Some of the other things I do to curb my cravings are:
1.) having fresh fruit and yogurt around at all times. Leave fruit on the counter and in the fridge. Cut up watermelon and strawberries ahead of time so you are more likely to grab them, ready to eat.
2.) brush your teeth when you're done eating to avoid the temptation of snacking. Chew gum. Drink a lot of water to hydrate, keep you feeling full, and keep a clean, fresh taste in your mouth.
3.) tell people about your goals. My friends and family know I'm trying to lose weight so I'd feel pretty stupid eating cookies in front of them.
4.) don't eat bad sweets. If you LOVE sweets, you probably appreciate and know the difference between good sweets and bad. So don't sink to eating a piece of stale cake or hard cookie if what you really like are the fresh soft baked ones. Over the last year or so, I've kind of become a sweets snob. We live by a candy factory and I love candy more than anything. When we go there, I get some of the softest, freshest gummy bears ever. No other gummy bears can even compare. So I don't eat any other gummy bears now - they don't tempt me at all because I know they aren't as good. Same thing with vending machine type, pre-packaged junk. There is nothing worse than bad junk food. It's only going to make you feel bad about yourself.
5.) Like the shakeshaft said, Number 4 only works if you don't buy any of the "bad" sweets and as much as possible, stay away from the good ones too. I know I can't go to the candy factory on a regular basis or make that candy available at all times. The good sweets are a special indulgence that you can treat yourself to once in a while. If you have it all the time, it's not special anymore.
6.) Set clear boundaries for yourself. A boundary says you can have this but not that. In order to reach your goals, how much can you have? How often? What sweets will you treat yourself to? It's not realistic to cut 100% of sweets out 100% of the time. This is a good one to write down and be specific. If you are tempted but a sweet doesn't meet your criteria, don't eat it.
I hope some of this helps. This is what I do and it works for me. Good luck! emoticon

Hi there!! I think the first thing you need to do is stop buying them. The problem I'm having is that my other half always has sweets in the kitchen.
