TODAY’S THOUGHT!
12/29 Sun
When we pray we have a responsibility to pray as part of a family. We have the duty before the Lord to pray one for another. We are to carry one another’s burdens to the throne of grace. One of the easiest and purest ways for us to fulfill the Second Great Commandment is for us to take our brother and his needs to the throne of grace in prayer. Did you know? TODAY’S THOUGHT!
12/28 Sat
Our Father is already in our heavenly home and He awaits our appearance there. Therefore, when we pray, we are merely turning our attention toward home. We look away, by faith, to that eternal homeland that awaits us. We are not seeking answers to pray that are rooted in the troubles and problems of this life. We are seeking heavenly benefits. We are seeking those things which originate in our new home. We do not want this world and what it can give, but prayer is born out of a desire to see Heaven blossom on earth. Did you know? Read “FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF FAITH” for more details and share it with the ones you love. Vic

TODAY’S THOUGHT!
12/27 Fri
As the “I AM”, He does not dwell in the past, nor does He exist in the future, but God is always in the right now! Your past is His present; your future is His present as well. He sees all, knows all and comprehends all. He knows your deepest needs and even the secret needs of your heart. And, He is able to do something about them all. Since God is real, and since He changes not, you and I can approach Him with confidence, resting in His reality. Prayer is not an exercise in futility! It is not merely sending words up into the ether of the air. No! Prayer is a humble heart approaching a holy, heavenly Father. Prayer is a redeemed saint entering the presence of holy God to transact heavenly business at His throne of grace. Because God is real, prayer is real! Because God is real, there is power in prayer. Rest in that hope and exercise your right to enter His presence! Did you know? Read “FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF FAITH” for more details and share it with the ones you love. Vic

TODAY’S THOUGHT!
12/26 Thu
Most ancient religions could not conceive of God as a “Father.” The Jews understood it better than most, but they had many names for God; names which they often used when they prayed. For instance, a man in need would pray to "Jehovah-jireh", which means, "The Lord will provide." If they were anxious, they would call on "Jehovah-shalom", which means "The Lord our peace." If they were lonely, or afraid, they might call on "Jehovah-shammah", which means "The Lord is there." If they need leadership, they would call on "Jehovah-rohi", which means "The Lord our Shepherd." If they were sick, they would call on "Jehovah-rapha", which means "The Lord our healer." The list could literally go on, but you get the point. When Jesus instructed His men in prayer, He told them to forget the formulas and the complicated names, but to just call on the “Father.” What a blessing! I don’t have to try and figure out which name of God I need to use, I can just run to my Father and call out to Him. Did you know? Read “FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF FAITH” for more details and share it with the ones you love. Vic

Vic, what a wonderful truth and way to think of salvation.....when a new soul is brought to the Lord through salvation, it is a way of expanding God's Kingdom on earth.

As we are yielded to God and He is ruling and reigning in our lives, we can play a part in bringing other to Him. You see, another way God’s Kingdom is brought to the earth is when a new soul is brought to Him through salvation. Another Temple is filled with the glory and presence of God. Therefore, when we pray for the lost, we are praying for God’s Kingdom to expand in the earth! We are to pray evangelistically! Remember Stephen when he prayed! When we pray as we ought, we are focused on seeking the Kingdom of Almighty God. Did you know? Read “FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF FAITH” for more details and share it with the ones you love. Great Word for today! Prayer is part of he "faith without works is dead..." We have to pray, then believe it will be done. The Word says "ASK and it shall be given unto you"

Jesus reminds us that God is our “Father.” As such, He knows what we need before we ask and He is concerned that our needs be met. Some might say, “If God already knows what we need, then what is the point in praying?” Prayer gives God the opportunity to hear His children express their love for Him, their dependence upon Him and their faith in Him. Pray affords God the opportunity to demonstrate His love, power, glory, providence, sovereignty and provision for His children. Besides, prayers not prayed will be prayers not answered. Did you know? In contrast to the hypocrites, who liked to pray in public places to be seen of others, Jesus tells His people to go into a private place to pray. There are things that need to be said in prayer that do not need to be said within earshot of others. When we pray in private, we can have liberty to declare our hearts to the Lord. We can pray about personal, private matters that would embarrass us if others heard. We can call out the names of people that burden us in our private time of prayer. We can be honest with the Lord. We can humble ourselves before Him. We can be who we really are, for in private prayer there is no one to impress. It is our time with God! Did you know? Excellent point, Vic! Would that we all follow Mr. Moyers' example. I really get put off by people who 'pray' and it sounds like they're more interested in hearing their own voices and/or getting acclaim from whoever is listening, than they are about speaking with God.

It is a blessing to hear some people pray. They pray in such a way that you realize they don’t care if you are there or not. They aren’t talking to you, they are talking to God. I heard about Bill Moyers, who was on President Lyndon Johnson’s staff. One day, he was asked to say the blessing on a meal in the White House. As he quietly prayed to the Lord, he was interrupted by President Johnson who said, Speak up Bill, I can’t hear what you are saying.” Bill Moyers replied, “I wasn’t speaking to you Mr. President.” That is the essence of prayer! It is not about impressing men; it is about communing with the Lord! Did you know? Read “FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF FAITH” for more details and share it with the ones you love. Vic.

One day, all men are going to face Almighty God. When that day comes, you have only 2 choices as to how you will be dressed. You can appear in the rags of your own filthy righteousness and hear Him say, "I never knew you, depart from me, ye that work iniquity." Or, you can appear in the perfect righteousness of Jesus Christ and hear Him say, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant, enter thou into the joy of thy Lord." Did you know? I made this my blog for today, but will add it here, too.

The following devotional is taken from "Jesus Calling" by Sarah Young, and is written as if Jesus is speaking to you. The scripture is from the NIV.

When you are plagued by a persistent problem - one that goes on and on - view it as a rich opportunity. An ongoing problem is like a tutor who is always by your side. The learning possibilities are limited only by your willingness to be teachable. In faith, thank Me for your problem. Ask Me to open your eyes and your heart to all that I am accomplishing through this difficulty. Once you have become grateful for a problem, it loses its power to drag you down. On the contrary, your thankful attitude will lift you up into heavenly places with Me. From this perspective, your difficulty can be seen as a slight, temporary distress that is producing for you a transcendent Glory never to cease!"

Isaiah 30:20-21 "Although the Lord gives you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, your teachers will be hidden no more; with your own eyes you will see them. whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, 'This is the way; walk in it.' "

2 Corinthians 4:17-18 "For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."

We live in a very religious age, where we are surrounded by many people who think that they can and must “earn their way into Heaven” by only being and doing what is good. Perhaps, there are people out there who believe this same way. If what you were trusting to save you, wouldn’t save you, wouldn’t you want to know? Anyone in his or her right mind would! Jesus says that a certain level of righteousness is necessary before we can ever hope to enter Heaven. DID YOU KNOW? Amen, Vic. James talks about faith and works - not that works earn us salvation, it's a free gift, but that our faith is shown by our works. So in my mind, works are for others - to show them Christ.

When lost people see the light of Jesus shining through the lives of the redeemed ones, they will take notice. Now, we all have works, but Jesus here mentioned “good works.” What are good works? Good works are works motivated by love, carried out in the power of the Holy Spirit, and performed for the glory of God. In other words, good works are works produced in us and through us by Jesus Christ Himself. As I yield to Jesus and He lives His life through me, I prove to the world that my profession of faith is real, and that Jesus Christ really does possess the power to transform a broken life into a thing of immense beauty. DID YOU KNOW? For more details on scriptures, story and lesson, read today’s “FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF FAITH” and share it with those you love. Vic.

Just as a church has a testimony, so do you! Jesus saved us to be a light for Him. As He shines His light through us, those around us who are in darkness are helped to see their way to God. So many people think they have fulfilled their calling to be a witness when they head off to the church building. Friend, when you go there, it is to worship Him and to be equipped to go out from there. When you step out through the doors you are entering the mission field! We are to go out from this place into a dark, dead, deceived and doomed world and we are to tell them about a Savior Who loves them and will save them if they will come to Him by faith. That is our mandate! That is our mission! DID YOU KNOW? For more details on scriptures, story and lesson, read today’s “FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF FAITH” and share it with those you love. Vic.

Here in The Sermon on the Mount, the Lord Jesus uses two powerful metaphors to describe His people. He calls us both salt and light. Both of these substances are valuable and both are useful. However, both are vastly different in the way they approach their respective functions. For instance: Salt is hidden, light is obvious. Salt works secretly, while light works openly. Salt works from within, light from without. Salt speaks of the indirect influence of the gospel, while light pictures its direct communication. Salt is largely negative. It can retard corruption, but it cannot change corruption into incorruption. Light is more positive. It not only reveals what is wrong and false but helps produce what is righteous and true. DID YOU KNOW? For more details on scriptures, story and lesson, read today’s “FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF FAITH” and share it with those you love. Vic.

Every Christian needs to understand that when we lose our saltiness and when we cease to function as salt in the world, then we too have become good for nothing. We can most certainly lose our usefulness to the Lord and to His work. When this happens, we have become something to be trodden upon and treated with contempt! When we are living for the Lord, men may not like us, but there is often a certain respect for the stand we take and for the testimony that we possess. When we allow our testimony to become tainted by sin and the world, then men will walk upon our testimony and we become absolutely useless to the Lord as a vessel of witness. DID YOU KNOW? For more details on scriptures, story and lesson, read today’s “FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF FAITH” and share it with those you love. Vic.

Salt creates a thirst for water in those who are exposed to it! As salt, the Christian has the wonderful opportunity to promote a thirst for Jesus in the world. Remember what the Lord told us? He said that out of our bellies would flow rivers of living water. When we live as Christians should live, when we take the call of Jesus seriously and live right, look right, act right, talk right, worship right, dress right, etc., then we have the ability to create a thirst for Jesus in the hearts of those around us. When that happens, we can point men to Jesus and share with them the water of life. Sadly, most Christians do not promote thirst, but ridicule instead. Too often, we live substandard immoral lives and the world sees it and says, "Why should I receive Jesus? I live just as good as that crowd down at the church!" The fact is, they are often right! Let's so live that we ever prove them wrong. Our lives must be above reproach if we are to create a thirst for God in the world around us! DID YOU KNOW? For more details on scriptures, story and lesson, read today’s “FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF FAITH” and share it with those you love. Vic.

TODAY’S THOUGHT!
12/12 Thu
A minister was visiting a rich man who had adopted a 12-year-old boy he had taken in from the streets. While the two men were talking, the boy, now 15, came into the room. After a casual greeting, the father went to the closet, pulled out a pair of tattered old shoes, and said, "Fred was wearing these when I found him." The minister saw that the teenager was embarrassed and deeply hurt. But the father went on, "I think it's good for him to be reminded every once in a while of his condition when I took him in." Silently the pastor prayed, "Thank You, Lord, for accepting me fully. Thank You for not dragging out my old shoes!" There is a word here for children. If you are going to live like the devil, please do not expect your parents to place their seal of approval upon your live. It is unfair to expect it and a godly parent cannot give it. There will be love, but sometimes, love must be tough! Parents: You do your children no favors when you offer blanket approval to their sinful ways. Perhaps your disapproval is just the wakeup call they need! DID YOU KNOW? For more details on scriptures, story and lesson, read today’s “FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF FAITH” and share it with those you love. Vic.

Where Do You Graze?

The Sheep and the Goats
Matthew 25:31-34

31 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.

34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.

41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

One group will be declared righteous by Jesus. One group will be declared unrighteous by Jesus.
Righteousness and unrighteousness is not determined by works, but rather by faith in Christ that compels people to love others.
Those that are determined by Jesus to be righteous will receive eternal life, and their inheritance to the Kingdom of God.
Those that are determined by Jesus to be unrighteous will receive eternal punishment in the eternal burning pit that has been prepared for the devil and his followers.

Are you a SHEEP or a GOAT?
Where Do You Graze?

Thank you, Vic. For those of us who never felt an earthly father's love growing up, understanding and accepting God the Father's love was more difficult....but I learned. As an adult, I forgave Dad for his shortcomings and wrote him a letter telling him so. We had a much better relationship after that. I could only do that by God's grace and work in me.

TODAY’S THOUGHT!
12/11 Wed
Children can live without many things, but love is not one of them! Perhaps the greatest gift a parent can give a child, besides the knowledge of the Lord, is the knowledge that they are loved unconditionally. Now, it is easy for us to say that we love that way, but I am afraid that it is much harder to demonstrate! One of the best ways for you to demonstrate godliness to your children is for you to love them unconditionally. That is, we need to love them like God the Father loves us. Nothing should ever be allowed to cause a rift in our relationship with our children! We all know of parents and children who are on the outs with each other. That is never right and is a mockery of what God intends the family and the home to be! DID YOU KNOW? For more details on scriptures, story and lesson, read today’s “FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF FAITH” and share it with those you love. Vic.

Sometimes it`s hard for us to give God total control in our lives. God knew all about us even before we were in our mother`s womb. So if we would just put our trust in Him (no matter where it may lead us) things will always work out in our favor!

I am blessed daily with reading a devotional from "Jesus Calling" by Sarah Young. It's written as if Jesus is speaking directly to us. This is taken from yesterday -

"Be willing to go out on a limb with Me. If that is where I am leading you, it is the safest place to be. Your desire to live a risk-free life is a form of unbelief. Your longing to live close to Me is at odds with your attempts to minimize risk. You are approaching a crossroads in your journey. In order to follow Me wholeheartedly, you must relinquish your tendency to play it safe.

Let Me lead you step by step through this day. If your primary focus is on Me, you can walk along perilous paths without being afraid. Eventually, you will learn to relax and enjoy the adventure of our journey together. As long as you stay close to Me, My sovereign Presence protects you wherever you go."

Psalm 23:4 "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me."

Psalm 9:10 "Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you."

John 12:26 "Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me."
Scripture from the NIV

This speaks to me - Nancy, stop being afraid to go where I (Jesus) lead you. for I am there with you.

Today I`m still meditating on scriptures about God`s Love...

Nothing Can Separate Us from the Love of Christ

So many times in life we feel alone, unloved, betrayed or even neglected. What a comfort to know that our Heavenly Father loves us so much. Unlike people, God will never leave us or forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:6). Our God is a mother to the motherless & a father to the fatherless. God loved you so much He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16). He loved us so much that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8)

Each time I read these scriptures my heart is filled with joy at how much our Savior loves us!

"Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? As it is written, "For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered." No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord."
(Romans 8:35–39)

TODAY’S THOUGHT!

It is a privilege to give to the Lord! It is a privilege to have something to give to Him. The only reason I have anything to give to Him is because He has first given to me! Everything we have is the gift of the Lord. Let’s determine in our hearts that we will not be cheap in our giving to the Lord. He has always been extravagant in His giving to us. (Count your blessings!) We ought to be just as extravagant in our giving to Him! You’ll never out give Him. But, it sure is fun to try! DID YOU KNOW? My study for today was on God`s holiness:

Merriam-Webster`s dictionary defines HOLY as "exalted or worthy of complete devotion as one perfect in goodness and righteousness".

My Prayer:
God I thank You for Your perfect goodness and righteousness. You alone are worthy to be exalted. Lord give me a heart of complete devotion to You so that one day I may see you face to face...

"In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him were seraphs, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. And they were calling to one another: "Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory."
(Isaiah 6:1-3)

What a MIGHTY God we serve!!!
Lord You and only You deserve all the glory & honor forever & ever!!!
