I think that best way to go would be for you and your daughter to make a wish list that you keep with you. If someone has a question about what to get they can ask you and you can tell them if they ask. But if someone can't afford something they wont feel embarrassed. What you want to remember is that whats important is celebrating your daughters life not just about how much stuff she can get. Have fun with her 2nd birthday

Hello,

I have a bit of a quandry, and I really didn't want to ask this on my facebook or anyplace else because I didn't want to cause a fight.

My daughter's 2nd birthday is coming up in about a month, and I'm getting ready to send the invitations out. And my issue is with wishlist registries. My cousin had her son's first birthday party about a month ago, and she included a registry wishlist in the invitation. I'm not really comfortable doing the same thing, but my mom is urging me to do it. My daughter does have a Walmart wishlist, but that's more for me to keep track of books I want to get her, and for some of my husband's family that lives across country (that way they can get her something she doesn't have, and we don't have the hassle of trying to return a gift across 11 states). My mom's reasoning is that with my misser's birthday being so close to Christmas, it makes it harder for the family to shop for her. Somehow though, I feel like it's really kind of tacky, and the miss manners in me wants to say no. But I also agree with my mom that it would be nice and help out. I am so conflicted about this it's killing me!
