I too have disabilities from strokes, left side weakness and a mostly non-functional left arm.
I have had my Misfit shine since 2014. It's awesome because it's a reminder of how little you can move in a day, it just keeps me aware I need to move! I have mine set pretty low at 400, which is 45 minutes of walking. If you are doing a lot of swimming they have a swimmers edition.

I want to say that you have inspired me. I am planning to have a knee replacement this fall but I am giving myself time to get used to the idea. If you are getting your points in on a walker I need to quit feeling sorry for myself and do what I can.
I just got my flash a couple of days ago and I have not yet had a good workout but like you say it gets all of my movements. I was busy yesterday but never did any so-called exercise but I got full SparkPoints for my effort. I am trying not to be disabled but I am somewhat limited due to the fact that my knees are shot. I can use this in the pool for swimming, water aerobics, and Aqua Yoga. You have helped me to concentrate on what I can do rather than what I can't.

I am always worth my best. My best is good enough for anyone.

Wow Miamirn!

It definitely sounds like the Sqord is perfect for this little girl, if you buy one, tell them you heard about it from Carmen. I actually saw a news bit about it on TV. It is geared for whole groups such as class rooms, summer camps to compete against one another. I compete against myself. It has leader boards, Halloween costumes you can earn for your Avatar. I use my Misfit Flash daily, but with a walker full time it won't get wrist movement. So this Sqord is for fun. I ran an online support group for people with Cerebral Palsy with a friend who was the moderator of the group. We no longer have the group, but I have remained friends with many of them for over 15 years. One friend is highly involved with the ADA. Along with many activities involving all sorts of disabilities. She is interested, because the disabled do not have a device that will work for them. I contacted Coleman Green (sp) directly. The CEO of Sqord. He'd remember our conversations. Awesome guy with a real heart for kids.

It also has trivia on the page, you've reached as many points as it would take to walk the length of the Empire state building and other things. You can give other kids a high five, or post a pre made message. It is designed so people can't directly talk to a specific kid, there by keeping them out of danger.

It's pretty cool. If my grand kids were younger I'd buy them one.

Hi Jimlita,

I looked up the Sqord site. Nice little tracker for $35.00! I don't think it's something for me, but it looks like an awesome little thing for the disabled, like you said. One of my swim students could use this little dynamo. She is obese, Obesity runs in her family. Both her mom and dad are obese. I'm not sure if it's because it's genetic or just that they all eat too much, but it doesn't matter why. I think she would benefit from it. Especially, because she's only six years old and can't read very well yet. She's a long time student of mine. I might get it for her for her birthday. What a thrill she would get with the prizes and all. It might even motivate her parents to do something about their eating habits and lifestyle. I've talked about SparkPeople with her mom for a long time. You just never know.

Thanks for posting about the Squord!

My Flash is set at 1000. I will say that I have not received credit on some days it quit working, but all these people who says theirs quit needs to try and remove the battery and very carefully clean the large contact. After removing the battery you may have to reset your goals be cause it goes back to 10,000 steps a day. so it looks like you aren't making all the lights light up. when in actuality it is only lighting up a tenth of your goal if you have it set for 1000 steps.

I wear mine on my ankle at all times, as I use a walker. it gets every single step where my Fit Bit miserably fails.

I am also testing a Kids activity monitor called a Sqord. Totally geared for kids to 13 or 14 years old. You do not get steps, but you get points for movement. you get ribbons for goals accomplished and you can make an avatar that looks like you and earn coins to buy things for your avatar.

I love it. I am disabled and this is working awesome, I switch it from my wrist to my ankle. Ankle for walking because of my walker, wrist for everything else. I have had it about three weeks and I am approaching one million points! It is totally water proof and you can swim in it. if you lose it, witch would be hard to do you can replace it for only $15.00.

I am trying it out for the elderly who do chair exercises and people in wheel chairs who can get points for arm movement, it doesn't miss a beat.

This would be perfect for the disabled. It syncs with all newer computers and devices running Bluetooth 4.0 or higher. There is a dongle available for computers. An syncs with android and I believe other OS. it works fine with my Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0.

I am getting so much upper body exercise with this that I wasn't doing before because my Misfit nor my Fitbit would not pick it up.

I hope to get more disabled people to look into this go to sqord (dot) com.

We Can do this together!

Mine is set at 2300. I might need to raise it. the only day I didn't met it was the day Misfit decided I only took 102 steps for a day that included a 3 mile walk.

Mine is set at 1000, too. I've only hit it once since I began using my Shine last week. Once I make that goal on a regular basis, I'll add more to it. I think it is more accurate than my SPAT was...

Mine is set for 1000 now. Once I start to get going... I'm going to set it higher.

I have mine set to 1500, anything lower than that and it doesn't seem like I'm challenged enough.

Could we please have a thread for questions and problems with our misfits (flash and shine both)?

Hello! jkelley1107@yahoo.com is my Misfit user name!

What does everyone have their goal set to? Mine was on the default setting, but I was meeting my goal even on my inactive days. So I bumped it to 900 and as long as I take a walk on my non gym days, I meet my goal. Thinking of upping it some more.....

I am starting The Fast Metabolism Diet by Haylie Pomroy Sunday so I've got a challenge already LOL
Maybe we could share our misfit user names and see who can make their goal or something? Just to be accountable? Or at least put some minutes in? I don't know if there is an easy way to keep track?
