Hello everybody.

Thank you for inviting me to the tea party. I must have a lot in common with Jaiz because I brought the same scones.

I can't resist having one, but I'll eat it mindfully.

And Lady Carol--I enjoyed reading about tea party etiquette. It was very helpful.
I made a special trip to the city to get my hat

As far as Monday Musings.--I've been working on slowing down my eating. Looking at my food. That kind of thing. Also--trying hard to stop when I'm close to full. That one is a work in progress. Slow progress.

I'd like some green tea please. If you have any. Big sigh as I lean back in my rocking chair and start to relax.

Oh my! Trying the scones recipe for sure. Wow, an authentic scones recipe of my own, Jaiz.

Could you put your recipes in the Recipe thread as well, Roomies? These are too good to not make permanent. I feel a Mindful Mansion coming on at some point.....lol

When I mentioned manners, it got me to thinking. Here's what I found....there's more tho:

Susan, it says we are supposed to provide a special teaspoon for our guests. How about these:

emoticon Elaine, knew you would come up with adorable tea party contributions, especially like the tea set for Susan's GD Amelia. I have a Fiestaware tea set that my GD and I use. Fiesta ware is made in West Virginia and I use the regular dishes everyday, just like my Mom and Aunt Mary. Makes me feel good.

How much to you know about tea? Our English teamies are going to outshine me for sure! Don't even know first question. Help, please. Only got 60% and that was from guessing on some.

Hope I'm not too late for the tea party!

I brought along some sandwiches, hope you enjoy them.

Made some meringue cookies and a calorie free cake too lol!

Ingredients

1 vanilla bean, split lengthwise
4 large egg whites
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2/3 cup powdered sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Preparation
Preheat oven to 225º.

Cover 2 large baking sheets with parchment paper, and secure paper with masking tape.

Scrape seeds from vanilla bean. Reserve vanilla bean for another use.

Place egg whites and cream of tartar in a large bowl; beat with a mixer at medium speed until soft peaks form. Increase speed to high, and gradually add granulated sugar and then powdered sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time, beating until stiff peaks form. Add vanilla seeds and extract; beat just until blended.

Spoon batter into a pastry bag fitted with a large star tip. Pipe 60 mounds onto prepared baking sheets.

Bake at 225º for 1 1/2 hours. Turn oven off; cool meringues in closed oven 1 1/2 hours or until dry. Carefully remove the meringues from paper.

I picked up this hat to wear also

Susan I brought Amelia a tea set to enjoy too!

Ginny wishing you all the best on your special day!

Hello roomies
Have had such a busy weekend - lots of fun stuff with family and friends as we had fabulous weather all weekend.

I just wanted to stop by with some things for our tea party. I am offering to be in charge of the tea. You need an ex-Brit to make proper tea.

I am also bringing cucumber sandwiches. Have to have these at a real tea party.

/thepauperedchef.com/2006/02/cucumbe
r_
sandwi.html

Then if ever you go to Devon or Cornwall you must have a Cream Tea which is scones with jam and clotted cream!!, So yummy! I brought some for a treat.

Here is my very old basic scone recipe (note the tips for the best scones)
emoticon

Scones

Scones need quick mixing and quick baking. Make the dough softer than a pastry mixture.

Points to watch
a) Pre-heat oven
b) Mix dry ingredients plus butter but DO NOT add milk until ready to bake.
c) Bake in a very hot oven - this will make the scones lighter.

Basic Recipe

8oz (1¹/³ cups) all purpose/plain flour (I use ½ whole wheat)
½ teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 - 2oz margarine or butter (not soft margarine)
pinch of salt
milk to mix
For sweet scones 1-2oz of sugar.
***************************************
• Sieve dry ingredients, rub in the margarine (I use a food processor), add sugar if using.
• Mix to a firm dough with milk, roll out about ½inch thick and cut into desired shapes.
• Place on an un-greased baking tray and bake for 10 minutes near the top of a very hot oven. (475º F)
• Serve hot or cold

There are many variations that you can make by adding extra ingredients to the dry mix.

emoticon

Now, for the "business" of the day emoticon

How did your week go? It's time to look at what's working and what's not. This is for YOU alone to gauge your progress and to create and modify your goals, accordingly.

Did you do your best to meet your goals?
I feel pretty good about the week, but did get into some food that I regretted later ... but still enjoyed.

What were your successes? How did you soar?
I've already mentioned the 4 pounds and six inches I lost over the last month. I think the inches are due to all the exercise, which I am totally enjoying.

In what ways did you stumble?
I've gotten into the sweets more than I like, but they were low sugar, low carb choices.

Most of the time, did you practice Mindful Eating (ME) by waiting for hunger?
Yes, I did do this most of the time.

Most of the time, did you STOP when satisfied?
Yes.

Whether you weigh or measure, were you Up or Down?
Down

How many minutes would you guesstimate that you exercised this week? 760

Is there one thing that you should focus on this week?
Better food choices.

What are your goals for this new week?
500+ minutes of exercise
Making great food choices and stop eating when satisfied
8+ cups of water daily
7-8 hours of sleep daily
Getting ready for trip to California. We leave a week from tomorrow. emoticon - laundry done, house clean, car packed, paperwork in order.

Patlow - Good observations. I find I eat less when the food is fresh and tasty, like fresh berries. So satisfying.

Lady Carol - I still haven't bought a fitbit. I wonder if it would work for me since I spend so much time in the pool, doing yoga, and on weights.

Janice - Yum. Chocolate covered strawberries. emoticon We might have to start a "Say no to your husband's treats" club.

Deb - Good to see you. Sounds like a good week. Hope you are still down that one.

Amber - We have missed you, too. The BLC started an 8 week long summer camp for this summer. I think they just had their first weigh in. Lady Carol and I are not doing it. I am leaving for a two month long trip in August, and since I won't have enough time or access to the computer to keep up with Azure I decided to take some time off. Also, my husband asked if I would focus on the trip and him for 2 months. I think I can do that. emoticon

I am off for breakfast, and then to the gym for water aerobics and yoga. My workout partner is back in town so I will have a lot of fun at the gym this week. Hope you all have a wonderful day.

Good Morning emoticon

A lot of us had the same fruit idea for the tea party. I brought a bowl of fresh berries.

I love scones at a tea party so I went to Cooking Light for a healthier recipe.

without the glaze

2.6 ounces white rice flour (about 1/2 cup)
2.3 ounces brown rice flour (about 1/2 cup)
2.1 ounces sweet white sorghum flour (about 1/2 cup)
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon xanthan gum
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/8 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons chilled unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon nonfat buttermilk, divided
1 large egg
1 cup fresh blueberries
White rice flour, for dusting
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons grated lemon rind
Preparation

1. Preheat oven to 400°.

2. Weigh or lightly spoon flours into dry measuring cups; level with a knife. Combine flours, granulated sugar, and next 4 ingredients (through salt) in a medium bowl; stir with a whisk. Cut in butter with a pastry blender or 2 knives until mixture resembles coarse meal.

3. Combine 1/2 cup buttermilk and egg; stir with a whisk. Add to flour mixture; stir just until moist. Fold in blueberries (do not overmix dough).

4. Turn dough out onto a work surface lightly dusted with white rice flour. Pat dough into an 8-inch circle on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper; cut dough into 10 wedges, cutting into but not through dough.

5. Bake at 400° for 18 minutes or until edges are golden and center is firm. Remove scones from baking sheet to a wire rack; cool on rack 10 minutes.

6. Combine powdered sugar, lemon rind, and 1 tablespoon buttermilk in a small bowl, stirring with a whisk until smooth. Drizzle glaze over scones; let stand 5 minutes. Serve warm.

While shopping at the mall yesterday, I found a cute dress and hat for the party. I also couldn't resist getting a hat for my granddaughter.

Love all the decorations and tea party ideas. emoticon

Good morning you guys!!!!!!!!1 Yes, it is me! Me! I survived this weekend! I successfully got my oldest and first born graduated from high school. It was a beautiful day and to say that I am proud is a very stout understatement! All that being said, I am taking a HUGE breath of relief. Phew! Now, I feel like summer can officially commence and it is time to have some fun emoticon The pool opens up today (provided the inspection goes well) so I plan on bringing the kids this afternoon and having some FUN!!

Okay before I start, here is my contribution to the tea party:

I'll bring the decorations!!

And...

some fruit! Yummy!!

Okay so here is my stuff.......

How did your week go? It's time to look at what's working and what's not. This is for YOU alone to gauge your progress and to create and modify your goals, accordingly.

Did you do your best to meet your goals?
No. Not all the way.

What were your successes? How did you soar?
I have been really rolling well with eating just enough. Even with company and all the food, I managed to work well within the habits (okay so I did snack a bit one day....)

In what ways did you stumble?
Not being active enough. I want to focus a bit more on physical activity. I have found myself snacking a bit more than I want to and munching while I fix meals and such. The thing that I dislike about that is I am not as hungry when I sit down to eat.

Most of the time, did you practice Mindful Eating (ME) by waiting for hunger?
Yes

Most of the time, did you STOP when satisfied?
Yes!!

Whether you weigh or measure, were you Up or Down?
Will weigh next week (I am weighing monthly and actually don't even have a scale right now...)

How many minutes would you guesstimate that you exercised this week?
200???

Is there one thing that you should focus on this week?
Not only one, I have a few -- my main goal is to balance out my goals.

What are your goals for this new week?
** Eating 3 to 4 meals a day with no snacking (and no munching while eating)
** Hunger mastery and waiting 60 min before eating
** Eating just enough at each meal
** Eating mostly whole foods
** 3 days at the gym to lift
** Fun activities on non-gym days (biking with the boys, walking, yoga, DVD's at home, etc)
** Drinking enough water
** Writing a daily gratitude
** Self care
** Track daily in my Fitbook

Okay so now that i have that out of the way -- I have missed you guys!! I am glad that things can settle down and I can be here on SP a bit more. I am wondering something -- are you guys going to keep this group active when the BLC starts back up? It is on hiatus during the summer, right? I'd love to stay on here and have considered the BLC again but I am not sure... the time commitment gets kind of crazy when the school year starts back up. Not sure, I might have to think about it though!!

Well ladies, I noticed that my coffee cup is empty so I better fix that. I should go anyway. I'd like to hit the gym in a few after eating some breakfast. I'll work on catching back up this week. I am sooooo happy to be back!! Much love you guys! Happy Tea Party Day!!

How did your week go? It's time to look at what's working and what's not. This is for YOU alone to gauge your progress and to create and modify your goals, accordingly.

Did you do your best to meet your goals?
Pretty much, but did get into some chips last night...not happy about that...

What were your successes? How did you soar?
Went on a bike ride with my friend, it felt great and I felt I could keep going..

In what ways did you stumble?
Chips....

Most of the time, did you practice Mindful Eating (ME) by waiting for hunger?
I naturally eat every 4-5 hours so I'm hungry by then. BUT the chips were not when I was hungry...

Most of the time, did you STOP when satisfied?
Yes, I use a one plate rule, never go back for seconds so that usually helps me stay on plan. I follow No S basics pretty much.

Whether you weigh or measure, were you Up or Down?
Was down 1 but I'm sure the chips changed that...

How many minutes would you guesstimate that you exercised this week? ABout 210 minutes

Is there one thing that you should focus on this week?
Making sure I exercise and NOT stopping for anymore chips.

What are your goals for this new week?
~ Deal with my emotions.....
~ Sticking to my THM plan
~ Exercise 200 mins
~ Not let my slip up derail me...

I don't have any tea party pics so I'll have to add some later..but some of the stuff is so cute on here!

The Living and Eating Mindfully team has been up and thriving for almost exactly a month now and we think we should celebrate by having a party.

You are invited to a

When: Tomorrow, Mindful Monday

Where:

We are having our first cyber tea party. The idea tomorrow when you come by (I know you will be posting those Monday Musings), join in the fun by posting pictures of tea party, fancy tables, scones, recipes of tea party food would be awesome, whatever you can think of related to tea parties.

What do we know about tea? Manners? Fancy dresses?

Hats, we must have hats. What are you going to wear? Be creative and have fun.

Here's mine, just to start it off. Susan and I will be hosting this tea party. Maybe another time someone else will host a special cyber party.

Vicki, I know you like my hat.....can you find another pansy hat?

Ladies, put on those white gloves and lovely hats and let's dress up the Front Porch tomorrow.

Let's make our first tea party great. In the Mindful Mansion, fun is a must!

Lady Carol

After Chapel today, I went to the mall to do walk/shop. After getting about 5000 steps, it turns out that I lost my zip fit bit. Well, couldn't take that, so stopped at Walmart and got the new Alta fitbit bracelet. Now, will give that a go. Doing some challenges with fitbit buds, so need to keep up....lol.

Any fitbit users out there? We'll do our own challenge, if there is. I know some of you have one...stop hiding behind that tree. Janice, you have a fitbit? Okay, girlfriend, we need to be friends on fitbit. Think my link is at the bottom of this post. Add your fitbit link to your signatures, Roomies. Now, I guess I have to keep moving until I can catch up with that 5000 steps earlier. Geez....

I've had a good day. Love seeing some new recipes. Definitely going to try those.

Setting up my new fitbit, so need to get going. I'll be back with the tea party invite.

PatLow, you can have a mimosa at the tea party! Good to see you.

Back in a few....

Mimosa!!. Did I miss them? Darn.

I have visited the front porch in awhile. I've been staying busy over with the Scarlet Rebel Alliance, but that's no excuse. I'd like to sit and rock awhile.

Susan--those 5 reasons you listed about continuing to eat when we're not hungry. #1 and 2 seem to reasonate with me. I find I eat less when I fully savor the mouthful as I'm eating it. I need to work harder on doing that. Also, I find myself pulling things out of the fridge or cupboard to munch on when it really doesn't make me happy to eat it. So I keep going.

Bye for now. I'll drop in again soon.

Good Morning,

We survived our 100 degree day. Today is supposed to be high 80's, and low 90's for the rest of the week. I'm thinking I might take a day off of yard work. My hands could use the rest. plus I'm ahead of schedule after putting in a couple of long sessions this week. I'm looking forward to a walk and some stationary bike. For whatever reason, my knee is doing great now. I just hope it lasts. After my surprise on the scale yesterday (and thanks everyone for the congrats), I took my measurements this morning. It's been two months since I checked. Even bigger surprise - 2" each off chest and waist, 1" each off stomach and hips emoticon

My goals for today:
45-60 minute walk
45-60 minutes on stationary bike
Clean bathrooms
Laundry
Trip planning so I can send our plans to some friends we met on another trip who are now on this trip. Hoping they might join us on a couple of excursions.

Lady Carol - Thanks for all your hard work in here and the Challenges and Dares thread. I signed up for the latest DDD.

Jane - Great job on the water aerobics and walking. Looking forward to hearing how your night out went.

Mizz Sue - Glad you found your dress and shoes. I have always wanted to visit Niagara Falls. Bet it is so pretty.

WG - Too bad your ex and his wife made you feel that way, but it sounds like you caught yourself well. Well, that's over. Hopefully today will be very pleasant for you.

Cyndee - I've wondered about that question before. I feel like I can go up 10 pounds in a week if I'm not careful ... and then it takes a month to get rid of it. Never made sense to me. emoticon I think I'm much less likely to do that anymore though because I feel awful when I eat that way.

Hi all. I wish I could say that I did very well but ex and his wife (the "other woman") started a conversation about retirement and how they couldn't wait to retire. I all but screamed at them that they are the reason that I can't retire yet. But I didn't.

Cookies were nearby and I inhaled a few before I found myself again.

I sent home with my kids the foods I brought so it isn't going to be wasted.

Happy Anniversary Jane. Hope the night has been a good one.

Mizzy Sue, hope you find a purse. Having two of three is a good one.

Congrats Susan on losing 4 pounds.

Have a great day.

Hello Girls,

just got back from a long day of trying to find a dress, shoes and purse for my nephew's wedding next month.
Found the dress and shoes but have not yet found a purse that I like to match so will tackle that another day.
It is very hot today and a bit humid so right now just taking it easy until after dinner when I get my run in.

Carol, my father had Alzheimer's Disease and died a year after we had to place him in a nursing home. He almost burned the house down with my mother asleep upstairs and I had to place him within 2 days for fear he would do harm to himself and my mother. He passed away 9 years ago.
WE are just 20 minutes away from Niagara Falls and the town you love as I do is called Niagara on The Lake. It is so quaint and pretty and every summer I go there for a visit. I especially love the Christmas shop.
When our visitors from Scotland arrive in the next 2 weeks, we will be taking them on a few trips to the Falls and Niagara on the Lake. as well as the CN Tower in Toronto. That is an hour and a half drive from where we live but going up in the tower is always worth the drive.

Well, I have to feed the dogs so just want to wish everyone a great evening and hope it is as pleasant weather where you are as it is here.

I made it to the Y in time to do part of the first water aerobics class and all of the 2nd - so I got in about an hour and 15 min On the way home DD called and asked me to go shopping with her, so I stopped by her house and did that. we did a fair amount of walking but unfortunately my fitbit didn't register any of those steps because it was out of power. emoticon Now I have to hurry and get ready to go out. DH and I are celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary and he is taking me to the Culinary Institute of America for dinner. It's in Hyde Park and that's about 1 1/2 hours away, so we need to leave by 3 in order to arrive and get parked by 5 PM. It's a special dinner called the Moveable Feast and it involved all 3 of the restaurants that they have. Needless to say, it is going to be a bit of a challenge to eat in moderation. I am going to enjoy the foods but I promise to be mindful!

Roomies, well you just lit up my day, my w/e, geez, you lit up my entire week! Really appreciate all the anniversary wishes. Here's to another 49!

Been focusing on Bill and all that 49 years of pure bliss and didn't check in for a while at the Mansion. When I did, I have to say that I'm overwhelmed with all the positive energy, all the love, all the excitement about what we are discovering about ourselves and living mindfully. Enjoying this one moment with a big smile on my face. emoticon

emoticon Thanks for sharing all the love. Sure comes right back to you, doesn't it?

Now, time to get to work. How about all those DDDs?

There are 4 DDDs going on, so see what's works for you and join in. I LOVE the walking4fun site. I just finished the Crater Lake trail.....spectacular. Doing the Arizona Trail next with you, Vicki. Come join us.

emoticon Thank you, everyone, for your special goodies. Feel really loved today. Vicki, Susan and I appreciate your kind words about the ME team. Trust me, it is our pleasure.

emoticon Mizz Sue, talking about love, your care of your sweet 83 year-old Mum is wonderful. How lucky she is to have you, and you, her. My Mom had Alz, so I know about the care-giving part. There are others here in the Mansion who are caring for their Moms. You will have lots of support and encouragement. I love it that you are a graphic artist. Wow, let's come up with some projects. I am very techy for an old broad. My kids are always teasing me and buying me the latest gadgets. I love the learning. Wish you were down the street. Many, many thanks for the lovely personalized greeting. Downloading it to show Bill.

emoticon Jaiz, hope things settle down very quickly for you. Looking forward to tasting some of those fresh veggies out of your garden. Garden Party!!

emoticon Speaking of party.....Carolyn posts made me think that we should have an old-fashioned tea party on the Front Porch. I'll be posting an invite. It will be on Mindful Monday, so be thinking of ways you can contribute.

emoticon WG, thinking of you as you have to socialize with your Ex....ugh. Focus on the other people. Loved hearing about the cocoa tea.....sounds delish. Wonder where we might find it? I am a tea drinker with my own infuser.....lol.

emoticon Jane, did you make that water aerobics class?

Jane, happy 45th Anniversary to you and Alan. Wundebar!!!

emoticon Janice, you are my sunshine! You light up the room every time you step into it.

emoticon Mizz Sue, just seeing that you are going to race in Niagra Falls. Bill and I were just talking yesterday about making another trip back there. How close are you to there? We went a couple of years ago and loved it, especially Niagara-on-the-Falls. Loved the wineries. Even thought it would be fun to stay at a B & B in Niagara-on-the-Falls.

Susan, 4 lbs is amazing, as are you. 100 degrees is amazing, too. Stay inside. No heat strokes for you.

Wow, what wonderful posts and lots of good things to catch up on. I'm feel like I need to recommit and will be posting my goals daily, I'm thinking. The DDDs and walking4fun trail have gotten me into exercising again. Life is good, time to step it up with the food.

Mindfully off I go.....

It's going to be another hot one here, with some predictions of 100 degrees. I plan to have breakfast, go out in the yard for at least 30 minutes, ride my stationary bike, and we are going to walk around the mall after looking for new walking shoes for George. I'm also hoping to find something cute for Amelia while we are there. She's outgrowing all her clothes at the moment - especially her long pants that now only come to her calves. emoticon

I stepped on the scale this morning for the first time in a while, and it had dropped 4 pounds. That was a surprise, and it makes me want to keep doing what I'm doing.

Lady Carol - Hope you and Bill had a fun anniversary.

Vicki - Thanks for the nice words and all you do to make this a fun team.

Mizz Sue - Sounds like you had a wonderful day with family. Glad to hear your mother is doing so well. Good luck with your shopping.

Jaiz - That's what I thought your weather is like - perfect! I love the 70's and 80's. Even the 90's here are okay, especially since we have colder nights and cooler mornings. When it hit's the 100's, not so good. We are driving down June 14 to spend my birthday with Amelia, and that weekend we will be in Laguna Beach for our anniversary. It should be a really fun week. I can imagine you will be lonely without the twins for that month, but I'm sure your grandsons will love your attention.

WG - That tea sounds delicious. Hope the family outing is fun and your ex behaves.

Janice - Same to you! I have been going to water aerobics for 3 years now, and it just keeps getting more fun. I love it!

Jane - I LOVE water aerobics, and my Friday class is the best! Hope you made it to class on time.

It is another beautiful day here in Welland Ontario and it looks like a great day for a hike. I was supposed to race in a Half Marathon today down in Niagara Falls but due to my hip developing osteo arthritis with a couple of bone spurs and inflammation at the beginning of the year I got curtailed from running for a while. Oh how I wish I had been able to go today. Last years was my first and I loved it.

My hip is beginning to feel better and I am starting back on a running routine cautiously so I might just make September and or October's half marathons in St. Catharines where my mom lives. Time will tell.

This morning I am heading out to purchase new shoes and a dress for my nephews wedding which is July 9th. He is marrying my new doctor. My old doctor of over 40 years retired last year and since my nephew was engaged to Jessica who has just completed her internship and opened her practice with her brother, I was extremely lucky in getting her for my doctor. There are very few doctors here that take new patients so I was doubly blessed with having Jessica in my life.

Well, ladies, time is a wasting so I am going to finish my cup of tea and head out.
I hope everyone enjoys sitting on the front porch for a spell and then has an awesome Saturday doing all the fun and exciting things life has to give us..............housework, cooking, laundry, gardening, playing with our pets, grandchildren and kids .....oh and playing with hubby as well . emoticon

ENJOY! emoticon

Hi all. I've been working at listening to my body. It was moderately successful as I did eat when I was hungry and a little when I wasn't.

Found a new favorite. I have a coworker from one of the Islands. She loves her cocoa tea. It is ground husks and fruit of the cocoa plant. I put some in my infuser and let it steep. Like eating dark chocolate. It's about having foods that are healthy and satisfying for me.

I'm going to a family function. Ex will be there which is a big stress trigger. I'm bringing fruit to the party afterward so I'll have some things to enjoy and be healthy. I hate to leave these things before he does as he can be quite annoying and creepy with his stalking of the grandchildren. Just a stressful time. I'll work on finding a way to be more peaceful without using food as a crutch.

Have a great day.

Sorry that I am so late getting here. I am on PST so I do start 3 hours behind many of you.

Have had another busy day. Still trying to catch up with everything after my brother went home. My veggie garden is at last looking good.

Mizz Sue - how wonderful that you and your Mom have such a good relationship. My DD and I really enjoy each other's company and she is one of my best friends. We walk together every morning and have done so for over 20 years except when illness or vacations prevent us. We even walked right through her pregnancy with the twins.

Susan - I know you asked me a couple of days ago about the heat in Vancouver. We do not get heat like you do. Generally in the summertime it is in the high 70s - low 80s and that is fine with me. We probably feel the heat more as most of our houses are not air-conditioned. When do you go to see Amelia again? My DD and the twins are going to spend a month with my other daughter at the end of June. I know I will really miss them. Then both DDs and their families are coming back here for 3 weeks in August. That will be fun.

I am still trying to get back into mindful eating. Every day is getting easier.

I know it's sort of late to post but today I spent the day at my mothers. I cut her hair, took her shopping and then we went out to lunch as we always do when I go there. I also took her dog for two walks as he expects this every time O go there. Benji is such a sweetheart but his daily walks with my mother are a bit slow and short. My mom just turned 83 and has been windowed for 9 years. I am her main care giver for any help she needs and my sister who is a teacher is secondary helper. In the summer she takes over 50/50 with me.

Some of my best days are spent with my mother who is also my best friend. She is a very young 83 and the life of the party. WE share a lot of fun times and very special moments together.

After returning home, hubby cooked dinner while our grandson who is living with us by renting our basement apartment, set the table and did the clean up. I love days where I get out of this duty. My grandson Tristen and I went to the mall after dinner as I have upgraded my Internet for him so we have unlimited access now. He is paying the difference in price but I gotta say it sure is faster now so we too are reaping the benefits of the upgrade.

Lady Carol, yes I did make my signature as I am a graphic artist. I used to have my own website where I sold memberships for people to download my work. After about 6 years it slowed down and was costing me more than I was profiting so I closed the site. I still like to dabble in making graphics however.
I want to wish you a very happy Anniversary......wow 49 years! I am coming up for 39 years in July and it doesn't feel this long. I guess when marriage is made in Heaven time stands still.

I want to wish all of the members here a fabulous evening and an weekend filled with healthy living.

Hello roomies....hope everyone is a having a super positive, healthy, fit and oh, yes, ME day! Today, for me, its been a very good ME day -- I was long, long overdue. The scale is very stubborn this week, maybe tomorrow it will surprise me.

I visited our leadership roomies today and dropped some love around. And an expression of gratitude for all of the effort and work that goes into making this team such a great place to visit, chat, and grab some support. Thank you again, Lady Carol and Susan, for all that you do!

Hugs to all!

This being Bill and my 49th wedding anniversary, I wanted to do something special to celebrate our new ME team with you.....sooooooo.....

I am off to 'share the love' with each of you and I challenge you to visit ONE of your Roomie's spark pages today or this weekend and leave a comment or goodie, sharing the love. Love it if you would drop in here and tell us something about the person you visited or just say how great she is.

People are our greatest blessings in life. In a real 'living in the moment' way, take time to 'share the love.'

Jane - Elaine has been posting her daily fitness minutes in the Spa Challenges and Dares, but is taking more time away from SP to take care of her mother and herself. I talked to her a few days ago and she was fine, just needing time.

Carolyn - I would enjoy a nice tea party. emoticon

Lady Carol - emoticon Wow, 49 years! emoticon I can show Amelia our tea party pictures, but she will want to know where she is in the picture. She loves looking at herself. emoticon I'd love a pool in our backyard. We could do some water aerobics. I'm doing okay on the healthy food choices, but could do better.

Janice - Great job passing on the chips. emoticon

Well, today is supposed to be 95. I have water aerobics this morning, and will do a little yard work when I get home. Hope you all have a great Friday.

Janice - I love your Happy Friday photo.

It's nice cool start to the day and I am ready to go out for a walk. But before going, I thought I would stop in and quickly scan posts to see if Elaine had posted. We haven't heard from her in quite some time. does anyone know how she is doing?

Off for a emoticon

Just reading through the Mindful Monday Musings that you all posted. Good insights there. I can't tell you how much I learn from your experiences.

emoticon Cyndee, 450 finnes minutes is great. Red Hot martinis......that's a new one on me. Did it burn all the way down.....

emoticon Ruth, what did the dr tell you about your knee? Are you cleared to return to work?

emoticon Jaiz, those carbs get me, too. I think of the concepts of Lean Habits, as well. Really has helped me to be aware of my eating....or rather my overeating.

emoticon WG, good job overall on ME. Immmm, those working days seem to be a stinker. Would be for me, too. Time is the problem....hard to enjoy food when time is limited or set. You will have to work harder at being hungry when the work clock dictates. No easy task, but you can do it. Choose food that you really like and enjoy, even on someone else's clock. Let us know how it goes with finding the perfect snacks that will be satisfying. Will be fun trying foods out....lol.

emoticon Jen, oh my insane is not good. Sure hope things slow down for you asap. Really do miss you.

emoticon Katie, good job on kicking the night time eating in the butt. Seems like morning yoga would be better for you. Morning is my best time, too. I'm beat at night and come up with lots of excuses.

emoticon Susan, 660 fitness minutes.....you are doing great. How's it going on the healthy food choices? I"m with you there. Been eating entirely too many sweets/carbs with company.

emoticon Jane, I'm with you on good food being a trigger. I just don't want to stop. Hope you are able to increase your fitness time. I am working on that, too.

emoticon Janice, oh my, but that Sugar Monster is a sly one. He is chasing me around the house every night. What can we arm ourselves with? We cannot let him win.

emoticon Vicki, what a stellar example you are for us to follow in fitness minutes. Gardening is a workout, for sure. You are getting this ME concept.

Bill and I spent the day at Rocky Gap, a MD state park/casino. Tomorrow, Friday, is our 49th wedding anniversary.

Yes, thanks right. 49 years of

Got my steps in.... emoticon day 3 of streak.

See lots of good
Double Dog Dare action going on. Proud to be one of you!

emoticon Mizz Sue, it is great to see you embracing the Mindful Mansion. I can tell that is it a good fit. Wishing you every success in matching with your son, so you can give him your kidney. Our thoughts are with you and Ryan. You will be a good addition to our exercise challenges/dares. Hope you are finding everything okay. Do ask questions. Did you do your name image yourself? Love it.

Carolyn, oh yes, let's have a tea party! Shall we have one on Mindful Monday and ask everyone to contribute? I'll send out invites in our Mindful Monday spark mail. Any ideas? Recipes? Pics of scones......yea.....cyber fun.

emoticon Susan, oh yes, very glad you are going to see Amelia for your birthday. Was hoping that would be the case. You will have to show her our cyber tea party posts. We'll have to come up with cupcake pics.

emoticon Janice, how did your eBay sale go? I love Chicos. Also, like Cottonseed clothes for the summer. They are like Chicos, in that they fit loosely. Love cotton. Send or post the link to your eBay store.

Thinking people are out and about getting ready for the weekend....seems quiet on the Front Porch today. Maybe people are out in the back yard playing croquet or badminton. Hadn't thought of that, we MUST have a wonderful back yard to go with our Mindful Mansion. Should we build a pool?

Off to do some sparking. It is already late. Got to get my beauty sleep and wake up to some of that wedded bliss in the morning......to celebrate 49 years. Who woulda thought it?

Wish I had time to hang out on the front porch, but I think I'm just running up the steps into the house to my room....sorry for the busyness roomies....but I did think that perhaps we can enjoy some tea one of these days....and be in the moment.

One of my favorite things these days is getting together with some of my lady friends of diverse ages and having tea and something and enjoying the company....that would be my wish for us.

Mizz Sue - emoticon Welcome to the team and thanks for the wonderful intro in the introduction section of the team. Good luck on your tests. I hope you will be able to help your son. I can imagine how frightening this all must be. I used to power walk 30 miles a week until my knee started bothering me, but I am in the process of strengthening it as I would love to get back to those long walks.

Janice - emoticon I also have a husband who likes to tempt me. It's not always easy to say no thanks. You did well! Awww, more cute teddies.

Jaiz - Is Vancouver getting hot now? I always think of it as fairly cool. Today is supposed to be 92, so I've already been out to do my yard work. We are taking our car in for servicing this afternoon and the plan is to walk while it is being done, but we'll see how hot it feels. I'll have water with me for sure! I am doing the 3 meals a day for now, but I will probably go back to snacks as it is better for my blood sugar. I just want to be in better control. I can't say I have that problem of not getting to all the food I want. emoticon

Lady Carol - We are leaving here on June 14 to go to Pasadena. I wanted to spend my birthday with my son and his family, and especially want to see Amelia enjoy a cupcake. She rarely gets sweets, and that has only happened since her first birthday on March 31. She loves cupcakes. emoticon She actually loves all kinds of foods. You wouldn't believe the things she enjoys for being so young.

Well, off to do some house cleaning. If I don't walk due to the heat, I will jump on my stationary bike this afternoon. Hope you all have a nice day.

Hi everyone, I am so happy to meet everyone and belong to such a great team. I always appreciate active teams and challenges and more than that I love chit chatting with everyone to see how your days are going.
I am about to get outside on this glorious day for an hour power walk/run. I have some osteoarthritis in my right hip that developed this year so I am only able to run in spurts during my outings but I can still power walk a half marathon without any trouble. Most of my days I get in 2 hours of power walking time. On the weekend I usually do a half marathon distance of 21.1 k (13.1 miles) as I love going the distance.

Sending best wishes to all for a great day and looking forward to getting to know you all better.
