Did you find someone to talk to? I have a friend who is an English teacher and has also worked part-time as the school librarian, so she might be able to answer questions, though we are in Oklahoma....and Oklahoma repealed the Common Core standards, so I'm not sure how helpful that might be.

Oh, I was just asking in general what people's experience is with it. Here there seem to be no school librarians and the teachers won't work with the public librarians, even when the public librarians reach out. They refuse to share curriculum, etc.
I'm fairly knowledgeable about the standards and I'll admit I really like them, but implementation is a nightmare and the teachers are really pissed about it (but then the PED is still very heavily entrenched with standardized testing/Pearson/PARCC and tying teacher salaries to achievement on the tests). We also have a lot of distrustful teachers here who feel threatened by any attempts at change and it's just not a good situation. No wonder we're 49th in education in the country.

I will try to remember to ask one of our youth librarians. I personally don't work with the schools.

Have you tried asking your state librarian for assistance, or suggestions of who you might speak? I know that the Maine State Library has a whole section for Librarians, and tons of topics. www.maine.gov/msl/libs/schools/teach

Not sure if there is anything you can use here or not.

Be sure to let us know how it goes!

I'm working on a paper for school about how school librarians can support teachers with Common Core. Has anyone been doing this and have any personal experience they can share?
I had to interview a teacher about it. Apparently there aren't any school librarians here where I live, which is really sad. He had very few ideas about how librarians could support him with instruction because he just has no experience working with a librarian in the school setting.
