I just started Girl With a Gun for our November book club. It is too early to comment, but it sounds like a good read.

I am trudging through Rebel Queen by Michelle Moran. I am in a book club with some teachers at the school and this is the October book. We meet tomorrow and I have read about half of the book. The story could be interesting and might become interesting, but golly I wish she would get to the action already!

In it to win it!

I just finished the audio version of The Boston Girl by Anita Diamant, read by Linda Lavin. I really enjoyed listening, as Linda made it come alive!

My goal this summer was to read the Twilight series (check!) and read all 20 books nominated for the NH Great Stone Face Award (grades 4-6) so I could steer my students in the direction of books they might like (check! finally!!). Good thing I'm done those because now I have a mandatory book study at work to do. emoticon Also, I really liked The Host - now that I've read it I can someday watch the movie!

I just finished I Am Coyote by Geri Vistein. She will be giving a presentation at our library this Saturday in conjunction with our year long series of programs revolving around the Acadia National Park Centennial 2016.

The book is told from the viewpoint of a female coyote as she journeys to find her mate and territory. It is a wonderful perspective of the lives of these animals. I learned a lot and gained a better respect for coyotes.

Well worth the read.

I'm reading Do Unto Animals by Tracey Stewart. It's non-fiction and about human-animal relationships. It's very sweet so far. Beautiful illustrations!

I just finished listening to the audio version of the Nightingale by Kristin Hannah. That was a powerful read! While the atrocities meted out by the Germans were horrific, the relationships were interesting and believable. I especially enjoyed the ending..

A Breath of Snow and Ashes. I started the Outlander series before the show started, but I'm not finished yet. My reading time keeps getting invaded by life, lol.

I just finished The Great China Zoo by Mathew Reilly. LOVED IT!!!! Think Jurassic Park.... With Dragons! It was a really great creature feature and a super fast; can't put it down book! Be forewarned the dragons have a really bad bite! So it's a gore fest!

For the children's book suggestions:
Flotsom, Mr. Wuffles, and Tuesday Night by David Wiesner
The Arrival by Shaun Tan

I teach illiterate adults how to read, and I teach adult ESL/ELL English Classes (for non English speakers). All the Wiesner books have NO words! So does the Tan book with the added bonus it teaches what it's like to feel like a foreigner/immigrant in arriving in a new country.

I got through the first four and chose not to continue. Too many references to Claire's nipples...

I just finished an awesome book called "Lexicon" by Max Barry - I highly recommend it!

Now I'm reading "Mr. Churchill's Secretary" by Susan Elia MacNeal. So far it's pretty darn good!

Hey awesome fellow librarians! I'm an elementary librarian and I'm always looking for great new books to read. Any suggestions?

I'm currently reading "Saving Lucas Biggs" by Marisa de los Santos and David Teague. It's really good! It's intermediate level and there is apparently going to be some sci-fi twists, though I haven't gotten to that part yet. So far it reads like a historical fiction novel about a mining town that is run by the company.

Happy Reading!
