Alrighty I think its time to hop up, put some comfy leggings on, and do some walking! I gotta get some exercise in before it gets so late it actually keep me awake!
Besides...I want to get it in before I shower....getting sweaty afterwards just seems silly!

Star definatly make the effort to get out to the store and stock up on all the great ideas people have been posting. I stock up on boneless chicken breast and frozen veggies. I also get the individual sized bags of pretzels and hummus, a couple tiny ice cream cups. I get the lettuce in the containers, a bunch of cucumbers. I don't cook every night but will cook a bunch of chicken to eat for dinner and lunch every couple days. I work from home but my lunch is only a half hour so it's chicken I already cooked or I eat up low sodium ham or roast beef in lettuce leaves, smear some laughing cow cheese, roll it up and munch away. I stay below 150 carbs a day so usually don't eat bread. But I absolutely need to get to the store to stock up or there is nothing to eat, which leads to eating out or not so healthy meals. Planning is a huge part of eating well. You owe it to yourself to be healthy! Makes life a lot better, you deserve it so do it! emoticon

Hi everyone-

Hope I'm part of the Summer 5% challenge (Walkers, Runners, etc.). Life's gotten really hectic and busy and I'll be on a cruise the first week of Summer challenge..

I lost 6 pounds on spring challenge and 19 pounds down from my heaviest so I want to get the momentum going.

I pushed way out of my comfort zone and participated in a yoga class at work. My first one and while they said all levels invited, I was pushed to my limits but stayed strong and did my best.

Star, another thing you can do is to use an online planner. The one I use you store your recipes on it. Then when you plan your meals you just drag it on to the meal calendar and when you are done it also gives you a shopping list to take to the store. I love it. I would be lost without it. Anyway that is another option for you.

Star - I always have hard boiled eggs, baby carrots, individually sized hummus (2 oz.), mini cucumbers, Siggi's Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, and assorted fruit on hand. I like to cook up thinly sliced chicken breasts. If your store doesn't offer thin sliced breasts, buy the regular ones, and cut them in half lengthwise. I saute them simply with a tiny bit of evoo and season them with no salt seasoning, and a splash of lemon juice. I cook about 6-7 at a time. I'll do minute steaks the same way. If a casserole is your thing, there are a lot of recipes here on SP for healthier alternatives to traditional recipes. I have no problem with eating left-overs, but it's nice if you can have casserole, then chicken, then meat in rotation!

Star, I would suggest you pick one day each week to set yourself up for the week. Pick the same day each week. Go grocery shopping that day and once you get the food home you start preparing it for the week ahead. For instance, you would chop up all the fruits and veggies for snacking, put them in containers in the fridge. Even if it is fruit not needing chopping, still wash it and put it in containers so it is ready. Cook some meat up for the first couple days if you can too. Boil eggs for hard boiled eggs during the week. Freeze some meals if you can. An easy one is a vegetable soup. You just batch cook some items on one of your set up days. Like Farro or quinoa and several types of beans, you then freeze them separately into portions you'll be able to use, you can freeze veggies too. On a day you are tired just throw those frozen items into a pot with some broth from your pantry just heat it up and throw in some spices and some beans and some quinoa or farro and you are all done. It will be easy if the stuff is ready and frozen ahead of time. Just as easy as pulling out the bread peanut butter and jelly.

It's not an easy thing to do the set up days, it takes a lot of time. But during the week it is sooooo nice just grabbing everything and eating it as it's already chopped up. I do this with lettuce too, I clean it chop it if needed and place in large container in fridge, all other veggies are chopped and ready too and I add those to the salads as needed.

Sheila is correct, if you drink water it will fill you up land most times when you feel like you need to eat, you not hungry but thirsty.

Some people will have their entire spark page open for all to see EVERYTHING. I am one of those that if you go to my spark page, you will be able to see what I am eating also. Now, mind you I am an emotional eater and that happens every once in a while. In fact, it happened yesterday, and I am not proud of it, but the truth is the truth. So feel free to go to my spark page and take a gander at what I am eating and what I am not eating. I love to batch cook and then I have individual meals in the freezer to get out and eat and it's a no muss, no fuss, in a hurry thing.

STAR135000 try drinking more water. That should fill you up so you wont be inclined to eat. Also keep a note on your fridge reminding you to eat healthy stuff like fruit and vegetables and meat of course.

The problem: I try to plan a meal schedule, buy the foods, etc. It doesn't happen ... not even once, and I've tried more times than I can remember.
The meals I plan aren't hard, and then our physical issues kick in. Some nights it's peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for dinner. emoticon
Question: Does anybody have some viable suggestions? emoticon

You are correct on both counts!

I used to be on the other side of the coin, so to speak, and the leaders do have quite a bit of work to do before invitations go out and then they still have even much more to do each day. I enjoyed it when I was a team leader!

Lol, I was asking the same thing last night! The challenge starts July 1st and we get invited to the teams the week before so nobody has gotten into a team as a regular player yet. Far as I know only the co-leaders are in the respective teams. They have to set up etc I'm sure. I am very excited to start though! emoticon emoticon

Also, for those who asked, everyone who wants to participate will get on a team, no one will be left out. It may not be the team you wanted if you signed up late but the leaders do a great job of making sure everyone is on a team.

PAGE2015 if the team is full you will be put on a list and when a spot comes up you will get it. Alot of times people will sign up for a certain team but then they will drop out so there is usually always room.

Hi, Della aka PAGE2015. Sounds like we're in the same boat. I requested Champions in the Kitchen just after that team closed; then I also posted on Any Team with the comment that this was only if there was no space on the Champions. Then I read the fine print today and found out that IF you request a specific team on the Any Team thread you will be booted to the bottom of the sign up list. So (frowny face), it will be interesting to see if either of us get into any team!

We can support each other through the summer until the Fall starts in any case. Let's not use any excuse to give up on ourselves.

I would make a trip to see my doctor before I did anything else! You're talking about your ribcage being swollen and squishy and you are not able to lay on that side or even touch it. Please go to the doctor! When I had some squishy areas that I was complaining about for six months, it turned out to be congestive heart failure and it was fluid around my heart. I'm not saying that you have congestive heart failure because each person is different, but I would get it checked out before I even continued on. I pray that everything is okay.

You must have sent your weather to me, as it kept raining off and on yesterday. I thank God, that I didn't get stuck out in the rain. I made it home just as it was starting to sprinkle. Daddy has not fixed my umbrella for my wheelchair yet, so I am extra careful when I go out, as the rain and I don't get along well at all. It takes forever, it seems, to get the wheelchair off the lift and put the lift back up, so nobody will trip over it. I would be soaked to the bone before I got inside the house.

Good for you, Ania, getting a workout done with the SP videos.

Hello everyone!

I've been in pain whilst exercising for several weeks now. My right forearm has a lot of sharp pain when I do ST, and the left side of my ribcage (around the peak) is swollen and squishy and I can't touch it or lie on that side without sharp pain, and both cardio and ST aggravate it. So I think I might just stick to walking until the summer challenge starts so I can hopefully get these things healed up. Any other exercise recommendations?

Hello Teammates! I just got back from vacation and am ready to take on the summer challenge to lose weight and get fit. Our health is one of our most important assets that enables us to enjoy life! Good afternoon all, it's a cold Tuesday here and a bit of emoticon peaking through the clouds. It's dry at present but expecting some showers later on.
I didn't exercise in the morning so am going to do a SP video right now.

I am sorry that the pool was closed but you did an incredible thing, that I don't believe you realize what you did. This could have stressed you out, and you could have been upset, and reached for anything unhealthy to eat and justify it by saying the pool was closed and this isn't my fault and let that food be your comfort. However, when you went to the store you chose to get a lemon ice and weight watchers ice cream. You took control of the situation and you came out on TOP!!! Way to go! This is a NON-SCALE VICTORY!!!!

Today I went to the YMCA to start the arthritis exercise water classes. The pool was closed because someone had done a "nasty". It was due to reopen when the class was supposed to end. Uh, no.
So I guess I'll be back on Wednesday.
I went to the store instead, and got lemon ice & weight watchers ice cream. emoticon
