Heather - My sister had one of those! They're supposed to be pretty hard to diagnose.

I'm getting so excited to take off on my upcoming trip! We just booked our trip home. I was leaving that open in hopes that I could take more time off...or be retired, but it's not happening yet. It's okay to keep working because I'm almost finished with some really fantastic projects and once we finish the reporting piece we're going to look like a real company. The owners are really adorable so it's hard to leave them anyway. I was here for hours last night chatting with one partner that is a fascinating guy and we have mutual admiration going. Then this morning I gave the big money partner my findings on a project he had given me and he was so excited he hugged me twice and told me not to turn him in to HR for hugging me. (In California we have really ridiculously rigid laws on touching. I've told him that he has my lasting approval forever on hugs - he's a hugger).

We meet with our financial planners when we get back from this trip to do final scenarios and nail down how, when and from where we draw money in retirement...so I know it's near!

Hi all!! Just a quick fly by. I read everyone's updates, but I can't respond to them all right now.

The surgery went well. She had a hiatal hernia which is a hole in her diaphragm. 80% of her stomach was in her chest cavity!! The surgeon fixed it all, she's recovering well, and my Dad is at the hospital with her all night. I'm exhausted and going to bed really early so I can get back and help in the morning.

Love to you all!!!

Heather - Yay for time off! It's exactly what you needed. Definitely take time every morning for yourself. I like to have my coffee in the dark and just "be". My husband, after being together 38 years, started drinking coffee and now we sit together in the dark.

Michelle - I have severe food restrictions and so no "published" diets work for me because of my food intolerance's. It's pretty ridiculous and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. It does make it easier to not eat what I shouldn't because I can just put it on my "poison" list. I can't have eggs, dairy, beans, tomatoes and all nightshade, salmon, beef, chocolate and the list goes on for days...then add to that, that I stay away from processed foods and don't eat breads because they're too many calories for the nutrition.

Jen - Yay for sleep! Just snuggle that baby!

Daughter dearest! That's awesome that you've been able to stick with your plan while traveling...even if you did have a little oops. I wish we lived closer (not that you're ever home!) so that we could work out together.

I'm not going to worry about diet and exercise until we come back from our upcoming trip. Our whole trip is based on hiking and snorkeling, but we will be on a cruise so the eating will have to be careful and mindful. When I return I am joining a pool and will (finally) get back to my mile a day swim. It's going to take time to ramp back up to that, but as painful as that will be, I know how happy I'll be when I get there!

Hi guys! It's been awhile!!

Heather: CONGRATS!!! I'm so happy for you that you have an exciting job lined up AND 4 weeks off! How cool! I'm glad this time off is for family, relaxation, and YOU!! Sending out good vibes for your mom's surgery!

DICHOTOMYGIRL: I hear you on the diet thing! I have been doing a modified CICO where I only eat "whole food" and stay away from processed meats as much as Ii can. I have had my best weight loss on keto...but...like many I gained it all back when I got off keto. I want to get and STAY my target weight. I've been at a conference and been 95% on plan here so I think it's working. I did have 2.5 mini desserts and stopped myself mid way through #3 and was like, what am I doing!!! I still think that mindfulness is a step in the right direction.

I haven't been swimming but I have been running! I used to run a lot when I lived in NYC but I stopped when I moved to high-elevation New Mexico (years and years ago). Now I live at the beach its a great thing to do with my dog. I've been in a hotel for the last ... 5 days (eek) so I've been taking advantage of the treadmill and doing intervals and inclines to try and get stronger/faster.

I spent the morning contrasting the various diet plans that I've used in the past, mainly keto vs. CICO. I really loved the structure of keto, and how great it was for my blood sugar, but I got bored after awhile and ate too many processed meat products. (and my cholesterol hates me now)

On the other hand, after a week of CICO, because I can eat anything, I tend to make horrible choices and eventually turn into a junk-eating monster.

So I decided that I am going to invent my own diet, and call it the ME plan. So it can have lots and lots of structure, but more variety, and less bad protein sources.

Good morning!

Take care Heather :)

We had some very strong thunderstorms last night and the baby slept better then I did lol. Still, he slept a lot last night so I'm feeling pretty decent. I didn't plan anything for my day though... So I gotta figure out what to do with myself

Good Morning!!! I'm off work for the next four weeks....and I leave this morning to visit with my parents and help with the surgery as much as I can. I think they are really just relieved I'm coming to help.

I hit the pool yesterday!! Yay!! It felt so good. Just a half hour of my slow swim, but it's getting stronger and steadier. Small steps......small goals.......achieved!!

Have a great week everyone. I'll check in as I can.
