I had my children's gym when the kids were little and I would disinfect everything, all the time...but we'd still get bugs coming through - sigh.

Kourtney, I wanted to just share my little parenting story about sickness.

When Sydney was home with Houston, she really didn't get sick. When she started part time day care at a little over 2, she was exposed to other kids and started to get sick sometimes. It's not really a bad thing because you know, building immunity and all. But, right before Christmas a stomach virus ripped through the day care center. They didn't alert us; I guess that's normal. Except for us, it was an optional thing since Houston was home and she could have just stayed home. So, Christmas Eve she's sitting on my lap in her adorable dress and she just suddenly vomits all over me. Two days later I was sick. I really wished that they had told us so we could have avoided being sick at Christmas!!!!

Laurie, I'm so sorry about your friend. Pancreatic cancer has taken several of my friends, one of them our friend Tammy who we lost from our team years ago. It's so incredibly hard to lose a good friend. My sympathies to you.

So far, the job is good. I'm getting a handle on what I need to do, and I have a great staff of two. They are smart, and the guy who is the finance manager is super sharp and driven. It's great!!

Sydney has her boyfriend's prom tonight. I'm not going to be able to be there for pictures this week, but that's OK, I was there for the most important one, hers!!

Have a great day everyone!!!

Wow Laurie, 35 is so young! It's heartbreaking! People who are into tax laws are crazy! When we were young I was debating also getting a law degree if we couldn't get pregnant and go into politics or be a city manager...fortunately I got pregnant and instead, opened a children's gym lol.

I'm on the weight loss thing myself - sigh. I'm doing the weirdo protocol where I fasted for two days and then it's been two weeks of nothing but veggies. Today I get to start adding back in protein, but only wild caught fish, organic chicken and nuts. This goes for four weeks and then I'll figure out a calorie restricted diet.

I'm supposed to retire at the end of the month, but it looks like it may go a little longer because my favorite company wants to add a warehousing program...and that sounds like fun! Next month we're spending a week in DC then taking a cruise from there up to Canada. I can't wait!

Oh Laurie, I'm sorry about your friend, and so very young too. Sounds like she was a lovely lady to have known

I've been posting from my phone, which doesn't work for posting photos... I'll have to open up the computer and post some for you guys :)

Good morning all... I am sitting in my office (aka spare bedroom) looking out at rain and listening to thunder. It's a good day to stay in and get sh!t done! So.... what am I doing here?

Kourtney, that child is ADORABLE! Those cheeks! That thick blonde hair! And starting to read already emoticon (I need to wrap my head around losing weight again too.)

Jen, when are we going to see more pics of Baby Boy??? Enjoy those sleepy times, especially the ones where you get to be in the quiet outdoors.

Heather, I saw your prom pics... she's beautiful, and so grown up!

Carol, sounds like you're making lots of headway. Can't wait to see that mosaic bench!

I'm busy, busy, busy. Lots of different irons in different fires. You may recall me saying (a hundred years ago, at least) that I never wanted to litigate? Well, as it stands now, I have five big cases either about to go to, or in the middle of litigation. I've had to teach myself how to do it right, and I guess I'm sort of good at it, but I still don't like it. Still... those cases are big money makers, and if I can win, it feels good.

I lost a friend last week. She was only 35 and had pancreatic cancer. It's kind of bewildering. The funeral was Monday, and I don't think I've really processed it yet. I can take her inspiration though, because for three years, as sick as she was, she never stopped living her life. She was a world traveler, a huge sports fan, a Lady Gaga fan. I don't think she missed a single Lady Gaga show, and planned elaborate costumes for each one months in advance. Up until the last month or so, she crammed every bit of enjoyment and fun into her life that she could. As recently as a week ago, she was still talking about new work projects and new clinical studies. Carol and Heather you'll appreciate this.... she was a tax specialist with a law degree. I don't think I have ever met anyone who loved tax as much as she did. I will miss her terribly.

She looks like she's totally concentrating on the reading too! A very absorbing book! You'll get back in the swing of things and it will get easier I'm sure.

I love sitting in the trees and watching the world go by, especially if there's a stream or river! Soon we're going to be able to go hiking and camping during the week! I can't wait!

Heather - I'll go to fb to see! My baby turns 30 next year and that's just downright confusing!

I'm going to try to go home at a decent hour and get some serious digging in the garden done! I need to dig a trench to put in gopher fencing!

HI!

Wow it's been a while - so much updating to do!

tl;dr version:
- I'm back at work. It's going alright but it's exhausting.
- Being away from Amelia is easier each day.
- Amelia is loving daycare. Thank goodness.
- Amelia had her first stomach bug (i.e., so much poop) but is doing better.
- I am ready for the weekend or heck just for the end of the work day.
- Mike is out of town until tomorrow afternoon and solo parenting is roughhhhhh.

That's really the gist of it. Hope everyone's doing well. I'm going to try to sign in more, especially as I start to wrap my mind around losing weight again.

In the meantime, here's a picture. She's doing some very important reading.

That sounds like it will look great and give some good harvests :)

The little hike was cool, there were a few other babies but I was the only one without a toddler haha. But I think he had a good outing watching the older kids play and watching the scenery - he's been asleep for almost 2 hours now! He also took a cat nap in the woods and I enjoyed just sitting and watching the world quietly for a change, I spotted a goldfinch and a big blue heron even :)

I love hiking!

I am sore today! Haha, it's a good sore though. We worked on our giant oak trees and got them nicely shaped and the small branches cleared out so that it lets more light in. We also cut back the one the is hading my new planting area so that I can start planting it. We planted 9 pomegranates that I'm going to train on an espalier wire system. in front of the pomegranates, I'm going to plant creeping thyme and marjoram and behind them, I'm going to plant asparagus.

I also worked on my mosaic bench and it's coming along too! I ordered a couple hundred dollars worth of mosaic tiles! Plus, I have the ceramic tiles that I made, so I'm hoping I have enough to cover it. I can't wait until I'm at that stage! I still have a lot to do before then, but I can see it getting done!

Good morning folks :) it's June already?!

Stopping in while the baby boy sleeps on me. Part of today's plan is to check out the local "Free Forest School" for a little hike in the woods.

Hope you all are looking forward to a great week!
