I'd be willing to co-lead the team IF we still want to keep the team active. Email me and let me know.
I'm diabetic, so a challenge to work on this would be o.k. with me.

Sorry to see you go Kurtzie. Sorry I have not been able to keep up with Sparkpeople stuff. Is there anyone who wants to co-lead with me? OR, take over leading this team?

My schedule is so busy and so much gong on, I am going to drop some teams because it is to hard to try and keep up with everything and if I can't give my all to a team and check in daily I feel I am failing myself and the team so I am leaving some of my teams. May come back later when I am better organized. I will try and keep in touch with everyone though. Hugs, Joyce

How is everyone doing so far. Sleep is good, trying to stay within calories and get in that exercise.

Any of the suggested sounds good. Maybe the sleep one with another one, if possible.

I vote for the 8-week diabetes challenge. I am diabetic and I welcome the chance to do better.

I'd also do the sleep challenge; all goes better--exercise, sticking to a meal plan, sticking to any meal plan when I've had my 7-8 hours of sleep.

And, actually, I go along with any challenge since I need the accountability.

I gave up on doing the squats for Livingston challenge, it was too much plus it bother my lower back and hips. I still do squats but more sensibly in the number I do.

Been working on increasing weights for arm exercises, and getting in my walking and other ST.

I am working on squat exercise from Livingston.com start with 50 and hoping to get by end of month to 250 which I doubt I will. Also doing the 21 day arm challenge, but using 5 lbs weights and may do it a little different in reps. Also do some virtual walks.

8/1 - 50 squats, 3 sets 8 reps for arm, walked Kayla 1.72 miles
8/2 - 50 squats, general ST 58 minutes, walked Kayla 2.73 miles

Day 2 of the arm challenge, 3 sets 8 reps 3 lbs weights.

Hope everyone is having a great day. No big plans for tomorrow but I have the old time sparklers (the metal ones from my childhood), Texas sells them still and my brother in law gets them for me when he goes for a visit. I will be playing with them tomorrow.

Good evening all, yesterday about the middle of the afternoon I got so sick, my whole body hurt, my right arm hurt, and I was so tired, I took a hot shower, some aleve, and flu medicine (in case), and cat napped the rest of the day. Today I felt much better, I got a good nights sleep, did go to church but took it easy today too, just walked. Hubby thinks I may have over done it on Friday when I did some heavy duty cleaning. But glad I am feeling better, Hope you all had a great day filled with many blessing.

Kurtzie found a great arm challenge.. Would be nice to tone those arms for summer if anyone is interested for July. Could round out month with water drinking to go with.. Of course, Joyce just did the challenge, so she might not want to do it again. But maybe we could work it in somewhere.

The day started out overcast but the sun eventually came out. Don had his radiation treatment. Driving in the car wears me out a bit. I did get in some new exercises I got from AARP, there are 3 for balance, I need those. Also took Kayla for a walk and in the middle of the street was a baby crow, as we walked by the mother came at us, flapping her wings over my head, walked fast and got a way from there.

Have a fun trip Determined.

I left Texas yesterday morning at 5AM. Had perfect roads except for a heavy hail storm that lasted about 15 minutes. Pulled over and waited it out. Got to my hotel which was a rustic old inn but very nice and comfy! Clean and quiet....this is fantastic for long drives. It was 12 hours driving yesterday. Today it only took me 11 hours and another fantastic old hotel. I went for cheap and ended up with 2 really nice places. Going to make sure I remember these for future trips!! Tomorrow I will make it to Spokane and get started on the weeks activities. Looks like we're arguing with WA housing authority who keeps denying my Mom low income housing even tho she makes only $550 a month on social security. Her rent is going up again to $985 a month. This is ridiculous!! We'll see what happens. Wish we had a better option for her but she wants to stay by her friends and that's understandable. Could be a very busy week!! I'll post pics of the tea party when it's over!

Good Morning!! I'm packing up all my tea party dishes and heading to my Mom's for her 85th birthday party. We are hosting a High Tea for all her friends. Should be a fun day. Unfortunately she lives 2091 miles away. I'm driving it alone in 3 days. My sister, BIL and myself rented a house for the week. So I will be hit and miss for the month of June. Not sure when I'll be back to Texas as I'm spending a few extra days with Mom before I head back home. Hope you all have a wonderful Summer!!

Well, day 1 of this challenge went well. I had tickets to a concert with my daughter. We spent the day walking around the mall, then walking at the concert and then dancing for over an hour to a wonderful performance by The 69 Eyes. Those guys are almost my age and still giving a great concert. It was so much fun! So got LOTS of steps in and boy can I feel the dancing in my whole body today.... emoticon

Hope everyone is having a great week!!

Joyce, my prayers are with you guys. Take care of yourself, too. Glad you could get your walk in while waiting on docs and such! emoticon

My daughter is visiting so we can go to a concert in Houston. Of course it has to be a major rain event going on so some of the roads are flooded. I'm hoping I can get to the venue safely. Should be an interesting day....haha! So I'm sure today will provide a great opportunity for some major steps on my FitBit!! That will be just the jumpstart for the rest of this month. Only one more stressful event on the horizon. emoticon

Hope everyone is having a great month so far.

I am trying to do my St 3-4 times a week, and cardio 5-6 and take a full day of rest. some of my schedule will depend on what treatments the Dr.'s decide for Don. We go to Portland tomorrow to see the specialist.

Good Morning, Everyone! I've had to take a short respite from challenges and such. My headaches and shoulder got pretty bad and needed a long rest. I thought I had the shoulder on the mend and then tweaked it again yesterday cleaning out the bathroom shelves...go figure!!

So I'm back to join the challenge for April. I like the cleaning and sorting challenge. Must be that time of the year.

Hope everyones week goes wonderfully!

I didn't know if it would be too much to do it for a whole month. But, I went through my spices today for the BLC challenge and used some~~ rarely used spice thing. I could use a couple more days just for finishing the spice drawer.

I need the whole month~~my kitchen could use it. Doing the freezer, fridge, cleaning the oven, all the drawers, shelves, cupboards, getting rid of stuff, going and buying new supplies, etc.

I don't know just like a drawer a day or 15 min a day or whatever each person wants to do for the April Challenge.

I like the idea of cleaning/organizing kitchen shelves/pantry since I agree it would be easier to make healthy meals with the appropriate ingredients/equipment and I wouldn't know what I need until I know what I don't have.
I have made pantry inventory sheets but I've not been consistent with keeping accurate records, so I may use some of this time to create an accurate record so I'll be encouraged to use that record.

Today is a really nice day so I am going to get out and enroll in the ST class again. Probably start Monday.

Has anyone thought what challenges they want for next month? I am kind of thinking of something where I clean up my Kitchen, fridge, freezer, cabinets, etc.? It would be easier to make nutritious meals if I can find the sprilalizer when I need it. Or the flaxseeds~~~instead of just giving up and not adding those flaxseeds for instance? I don't know what do you guys think?

Each day next month we could just say in the daily thread what item in our kitchen or house we cleaned that helped us with our weight loss goal and why or how it helped? Just and idea~~

I needed an ST break but I have to get back into it today. Will try and do a video and do a couple of my exercises from PT. I have a tooth problem and it's going to be pulled if the endodontics place can't do anything. Problem is I couldn't get in till the 28th unless we go to their other place which is 35 minutes if we don't get stuck in rush hour. Ugh. Don't know if I should wait that long. Jumping around isn't doable right now.

I am usually sore after exercising, I try to take it slow but when I start I feel good and surprisingly I find myself enjoying it and then over do. I use videos for senior ST and yoga plus some Leslie Sansone and Sweatin with the oldies. Also do my own versions of the videos on some days.

Hope you all have a great day and rest of week, and weekend.

I probably should have started off a little slower. My muscles are very sore. Maybe they would have been anyways. Glad to hear from everyone on how they are doing with Strength stuff.

Glad your doing strength too Anna~~it is keeping me going to hear from you.

I am going to add more core this week than what the 30 day stuff has.....I think I will do some reasearch on Spark for it. Hugs to all you Goalies!

Before starting the strength training challenge to get me going. I usually did walking/walking dvds and upper body strength (when I did strength which was very erratic). Since some of the exercises needed to be done on the floor I found the I better start doing that more often. It was actually pretty uncomfortable when I tried to lie flat on my back to do some exercises that I had done for physical therapy a while back. I definitely need to keep getting on my back and doing it daily. Just a simple exercise but it seems to be helping. Glad I decided to start strength again. I better keep it up!

I am just going to do some of the exercises on the 30 day jumpstart your workout challenge again. It is easier for me to just copy the person on the screen. And, it takes about 10 minutes or so per day so it is not too hard. I will come in here every couple days or so and check in.

Later in the month I may get back into that strength class that I was in before the snowstorms. They were going to start back up when the weather returned back to normal. It was scheduled to start this week, but started snowing today and was cancelled again for at least the next two weeks. And, I thought this winter was finally over. So jumpstart challenge it is for me for awhile.

I better get a notebook out to keep track of what I do.

I did do 11 minutes of seated arm and shoulder workout. I actually added a couple extra exercises to get 11minutes.

I'd like to do some form of training 5x a week--some days "heavier" than others, but I need to be consistent. Even some pilates/yoga/balance work would be good, and I'd count that.

I need to increase my cardio and strength. Cardio I should be able to increase now that I'm feeling better and the weather will get back to normal soon and stay there (I hope!). I want to try and get in strength training 3x/week. If not that at least 2! I do 1 and then over a week has gone by and do another.

So strength workout 3x per week is the goal.

I was thinking also on working on our exercise, especially Strength Training, I have really been bad about that. Maybe we can set our own goals and report each exercise and minutes. Something like that.

Your welcome Retired.

It was in the 40's today but no snow, there is supposed to be another cold front coming in.

For some reason I thought it was Friday all day. Don still isn't feeling well. I had a sore throat when this morning but feeling better now.

Hugs all have a good night.

So the cold reached down that far south! WOW! I am glad you were safe and got the treatment in, too. When you haven't driven in snow for awhile it can be a little nervesome! Warm weather coming for you, I am sure! Have a restful day!

We seldom get snow here, in the 14 years 2 months it has only snowed 3 times, well it snowed yesterday, just a little in Florence but we had to go to Coos Bay for Don's treatment, it was quite a ride., Was exhausted when we got home. Hope everyone had a great day yesterday and today.

I have not been able to read either of the articles. Could you maybe add them as links, so we can click on them? I keep getting the message that the page does not exist on both.

Kurtzie wanted a water challenge in Jan. so we will do one in Feb. but it was to long for the whole month that fruit and veggie one for me. So, the water challenge is only two weeks.

The idea for the rest of the month is a heart challenge. I don't know what that entails~~~ what do you guys want for a heart challenge?

We've had some less cold days here in the middle of the week, but we're headed for more cold weather this weekend, so back to last weekend weather-wise.
Had a lot of rain last night/this morning, so some frozen puddles today.

Kayla is doing well, if it wasn't for the stitches, you wouldn't know she had surgery.

Getting back on track somewhat today. Don is going to need radiation treatments, Monday we will set up the schedule, it will be 2 times a week. Not sure how long yet. Will have to adjust schedule. the drive there is 90 minutes 1 way, I am also going to see how long the treatments are so we can plan.

Have a great evening.

KURTZIE1998, how's Kayla doing?

Wow, a month of 5 freggies a day is L---O----N----G! Once in a while, I'm really searching at the end of the day for 2 more servings; thank goodness for celery and carrots. Most of the time, though, I'm o.k. because I've planned in the morning and am ready for the freggie count.
Don't want to change the challenge--this is good for me.

Thank you all for the condolences.

Kayla came through surgery well, she is still a little woozy, she likes to lay in our laps but it is hard to pick her up without her wincing, she had 2 cysts removed that were filled with gunk as our vet called it. When we go to pick her up she moves away, then looks sad she in not in one of our laps. Hopefully she will feel a little better tomorrow. Did get my exercise in.

KURTZIE1998, so sorry you're down a friend, but happy you had a wonderful celebration of your friend's life.

Determined, have a great visit with you children. I like your planning. Sometimes forecasters are wrong, so don't let the rain deter you.

Yesterday was the initial shopping day for the kids visit...LOL I obliged them with junk food and sodas. I picked all the kinds they like but I don't!!! Today I will start cleaning for their arrival on Tuesday. I haven't seen my son and DIL in 3 years so I'm super excited!! It should be a fun visit even though they are calling for rain the whole time. I'm bummed but we are going to NASA anyway!!

Hope everyone has a wonderful week!!
