So far I am exercising and watching the carbs, so March is going fine! I have come to the realization that for me pushing for more than 30 minutes of structured exercise every day is not realistic, and it's ok to rest a day or 2 each week! I hope I have some answers regarding a health issue on Wednesday, but I am trying to keep my anxiety about it under control, and not let my eating get out of control as a coping mechanism! So far so good! emoticon emoticon

MAMAPINKYÖÖÖ..thank you for welcoming me to the group. I finally had to have a talk with myself and realize I need to focus on my overall health as well, and accept that this will be a way of life and a journey.

MUMSEY5Ö thanks for the welcome, we can do this.

Hi Dee and emoticon to the team

Great idea to just concentrate on the small goals at a time. I have about 3 stone to lose so I am aiming at 5 kilo lots as well.

Not so good last month but back on track for this month emoticon

Welcome to the team, GR8TAWK-N-2-U! I also have a lot to lose and it has overwhelmed me most of my adult life. This time I think I'm on the right path because my focus is more on my overall health (physical, emotional and spiritual) and not on losing weight. I've been tracking my nutrition and fitness for 64 days now via Sparkpeople (SP) and am learning so much. I've been a member of SP since 2011 (on and off) and this time everything seems to "click". My goals right now are simple: Drink 8 glasses of water a day (this is my biggest challenge for the past two months), get at least 10 minutes of exercise a day, and get at least 8 hours of sleep. I am being kinder to myself this go-round and have accepted that this will be a life-long journey. As long as I do my part I feel certain my health and mobility will continue to improve as I continue on my journey to wellness. I'm so glad you are here so we can support each other!

I am new to this group. I get overwhelmed at the amount of weight I have to lose, so I am taking it 5 lbs at a time. I have not set a goal date to lose the weight, it will happen when it happens. Does anyone have any specif goals for this month (March)?.

My goal(s) for March:

Make healthy food choices emoticon emoticon

Exercise 30 mins a day emoticon emoticon

Stay hydrated emoticon emoticon

The first day of the month helps me focus on making better choices in my food selections than I did the month behind me. For me it's like getting a fresh start, a boost or like that first blank page in your note book.
I wish I could say that every day I make perfect choices but I do slip up here and there.
Today was a good day for me - no slips!

I hear you ladies. I have been having an afternoon naps for the last year or so.
I was really concerned and in the end was diagnosed with sleep apnea and I have a machine for at night - not the most flattering or awesome thing I wanted but at least I sleep well and am less tired.
My problem is that I stay up too late but I find being honest and getting to bed early - drinking a lot of water through the day has really helped. My days can be busy with work and home (and Hubby has a mental illness and that can be hard at times) so I sort of think I can treat myself to some computer time.... but its not really a treat is I am only getting 6 hours sleep! emoticon

I agree Martha. I am feeling a lot more tires this year. This is the first year that I actually allow myself to take a 30 minute nap. (I set my phone alarm) All my life I did not nap and therefore always slept very good a night. But this year I am having a bit of trouble not being able to just get through the day. That little 30 minutes around 3PM really helps a lot and I still sleep well at night.

One of the things about aging that I am NOT enjoying is the decline in endurance. I get tired faster and stay tired longer. I had a really busy/stressful week last week and I'm still recovering. And the house is a mess and I have important desk work to do. Grateful for a slow week this week before another busy (but not stressful, I hope) one next week.

I know more exercise would help, but it's hard to get motivated when I'm tired!

Good Morning. Just stopping by to say hello.
Finally the rain has stopped. Sun is trying to come out. Need to do some housecleaning today and then go grocery shopping.

We're having son and daughter and their families over on Sunday for lunch, just ten of us. Keeping it low carb with grilled chicken and green salad. Shrimp cocktail also. We will have birthday cake for dessert as it is my DH's birthday. I may have a smidgen of cake with a glass of champagne.

Della, Interesting work and very rewarding helping children.
That mini bike sounds great! I will check that out. I walk a lot but I could use something to strengthen my arms. Swimming too, sounds like you've got a great routine going.

Years ago when I lived in another state I belonged to a fitness club that offered and indoor track and swimming classes but here in PA where I live now I don't have anything like that around me
Keep it up Della. You are doing great.

KATHLEEN624óó-Iím a Title EA .. I have 9 small groups a day teaching reading and math to children that are at high risk. Itís a joy when you see the light come on and they bloom and get to graduate out of my group. I work with K-5th graders.
My bike is a small one that I sit in a chair and pedal it for 20min. Going forward and backwards then I sit it on a tv table and do 10/15 min using my arms going forward and backwards. I feel it in my upper arms and my sides and back..
I also take a hydro fit swim class 2x a week..weather permitting..I wonít go when itís freezing. That class is a cardio workout and I really enjoy it.

I have been ordering online this week. Can't wait to get my new stuff.

Congrats Della on those 10,000 steps!
Sounds like maybe you are a teacher? With three months off coming up?
Is your mini bike an exercise machine? Or one for outside?
I've been thinking of getting an indoor stationery bike to change up my walking routine.

Rainy and cold here yesterday and today. I just wanted to stay in bed and sleep late this morning but I didn't. Got up at 7AM as usual. I have lots to do around the house today to keep me busy.

We had a record breaking day here today of 75 degrees. It felt like summer. I went to my local park and walked the bike path which takes me past one of our beautiful waterfalls, It was so good to breathe in some fresh air. Tomorrow we are back to snow and cold weather. Just need to get through snowy March and then hello spring. Walked 5 miles outside.

My daughter and I grabbed something to eat and headed to our Wed. Night church meeting. A quartet came in and sang to our teacher. Her husband had them come for his gift to her. She was so surprised.
Our weather has been strange. Spring like weather then bamb! Back to freezing nights and cold windy sunny days. Gotta love this winter/spring change over.

We went to a game night last night. It was fun, dh just chilled and I played Scrabble. There was lots of junk food, and I was fairly good. I did not eat sweets, which were plentiful except for a piece of candy.

Good Morning. It is rainy and foggy here. Yesterday we went to a brunch buffet. I had planned on eat very little and staying away from foods I know I should not have. I did eat a few things that I should have avoided and I had extra helpings of others. WELL, I should just stay away from buffets!! Today is a new day and I am back on track.

I have a lunch date today with a friend but I can handle that. No over eating today.

Good Morning Kathleen. I too like to walk or put in some miles on the elliptical machine.

Hello. I just joined your group. I like to keep active so I walk every day.

Sometimes I walk outside and other times in the house to a DVD. I make sure I walk 10,000 steps daily. When enjoying my hobbies which are quilting, reading, knitting and playing piano I am always sitting. So I need that walk.

My main goal here at Spark People is to lose weight.
