We will be sending out invitations shortly. But invitations are good for a week, so missing one day checking your sparkmail will not hurt. The official start date is not until Oct 6. Just hang on a little longer. It is so worth it!!

Keep Sparkling!

A week ago, it was announced that invitations were going out shortly. It still hasn't happened. Yet, if I were to miss checking my SparkMail 1 day, I might be taken off the list for my preferred club. Yes, I am feeling frustrated with this process.

You can't delete a post completely here, unfortunately. Editing like you did is all you can do. As to being notified about which team you are on, that will happen shortly. The leaders have just started getting their team pages ready for the Fall challenge, so once it's done, they will get a list of the people for their teams and will invite them. After the invites have gone out to the people who signed up for a specific team, then those who chose "any team" will be assigned a team to fill out the remaining open spots and the team leaders will send out those invitations too. Keep an eye out in your spark mailbox for the invitation. Hopefully you have also chosen to receive an email notifying you that you have a new spark mail message, so you don't overlook it. I believe the invitations should be going out shortly.

I appreciate the help. Thank you! I signed up under "Any Team," since I was new. Didn't want to keep someone from being on a team they've been on previously. I saw where a few people were disappointed about not getting back with their teammates. Since I signed there, will someone let me know where I've been placed? I'm looking forward to this challenge and getting to know everyone. I accidentally posted this in the wrong place...one that says not to post there. Oops! Can someone tell me how to delete the entire post? It wouldn't let me get rid of it, so I edited and typed delete. Unfortunately, it's there. Teaches me to double check where I'm posting.

Pulled a muscle in my leg during my long walk yesterday but still walked for a little over 30 minutes today. I am 62 and falling apart. I walk for at least 30 minutes 6x week and most days that short walk turns in to about an hour. I live in midtown and don't have a car. I walk everywhere I need to go. Some times I have to ride the train but that is a 30 minute walk there. I love to walk.

MAIZEPAGE, Welcome to the team. Start by reading under Pick your team forum 'How to pick your team'. It lists a description of the various teams. See which ones that interest you. Then look under more topics under Pick your team forum and it lists all the teams and you can click on the team that interests you and put message there. Also keep in mind there is a 40 per team limit

I'm a newbie here and need some help. How do I go about picking a team? Since I don't know anyone, I don't have a preference, and look forward to getting to know the rest of you. I've been looking around the site, but not real sure what I'm doing. Any help is appreciated.

I too keep losing and gaining the same few pounds. I am not at goal yet but have lost 50 and kept off over 35. I want to lose again what I gained and think the challenge will help me at least not gain a lot. The little heathy weekly challenge LTGL help me a lot.

Question: 5% Challenge and Possible Maintenance Member

I havenít lost weight since July. My weight has been fluctuating up-and-down within 3 pounds since then. If this trend continues, Iím wondering about the upcoming 5% challenge this fall and how me not losing weight will affect my team. I think I heard that there are members who are in maintenance who still participate in the 5% challenges. I really like being part of the 5% challenges and the motivation and support keeps me inspired and moving forward to keep me on track to living a healthy lifestyle. Can someone give me some information?

I love fresh spinach but don't like frozen or can. I like to mix a little bit of it into my scrambled eggs. I also like it in a fresh salad. And it is good in stir fry

Hey Team,

I fell like a kid waiting for my name to go up on the board to see if I am going to be a Roaring Twenties dancer for the school play. I didn't get it. But what did I know about the Roaring Twenties? I had a black and white tv with Howdy Doody that signed off at midnight. emoticon

Happy to know the invites will be here end of Sept.

I've just discovered organic Spinach at WM in the large plastic container. I eat it with everything. It is so crunchy and fresh and stays fresh for a week. Makes me wonder if it is "Franken" spinach.

Have a great day!

I was down a few pounds today. I seem to be bouncing around by more than 2 or 3 pounds from day to day, but this was four pounds down, so hopefully that means the trend is finally going the right way.

Past experience the invites will go out last week of Sept. Those of us that put any team, maybe later. Yes I have been a leader for years, but I asked for a new team this time. Trying something new.

With weight gain. Remember a pound of fat has 3200 calories. If you use me as your example. SP says I should get between 1200 and 1500 calories a day. Maybe I'm wrong, but it works for me, I look at it over 1500 calories is weight gain, under 1200 I'm not getting all the nutrition I need. Using this info I would have to have eaten 4700 calories the day before to have gained a pound. Now if I went to a party I might have gone over, but 3X? so it most likely water weight.

Deb it is MaryAlice all one word with a capital A. Don't worry I don't know anyone else that spells it that way. I think it was a compromise between Daddy that said it was Mary Alice and Grandma that said it was Maryalice.

Remember every meal doesn't have to be a balanced meal, It has to be balanced over the day. I brought up adding protein to a meal because plants digest so fast.

I like the tuna packs but not on my salad. I don't like lettuce and tuna. I got a good deal on the packs at the bargain store and like them with s bit of Mayo on whole wheat toast.

I absolutely love those tuna and salmon packets! They might be a little more expensive than a can, but I feel like I deserve them. I've wasted a lot of money on junk food through the years. This is a 'healthy' splurge.

Happy first day of Fall.

It probably isn't economical but I found those little packets of charlie tuna, that are herbed and favored on salad is soooo goooood. I also found a GMO free, sustainable Salmon packet that is absolutely the best! Protein and salad, win!!!

Salads are good but remember it takes 3 ton4 hours to digest protein and 20 minutes ti digest a veggie salad. That means you get hungry sooner and are more app to grab something you shouldn't. Add soon nuts or meat to your salad

The scale is not my friend and will not be getting on it every day like I have been lately. I am just going to do it on Saturday. I hate that I have gotten in to the bad habit again. I have been doing good on my exercise and eating right so will work now on watching my salt. I ate a diet meal last night and it had way to much salt in it. And it was so small I would have done better eating a large salad. I am going to buy some mixed spring greens so I can just grab a salad and munch away at dinner time. Nothing like a fresh salad. I love mine with strawberries, grapes and cucumbers in it.

Deb 3 pounds sounds like water weight, You could've been eating things that had more salt then you are use to. Extra water will wash the salt and water out.

Good afternoon everyone. I don't think I've posted on this section before, but I was getting ready for vacation. Arrived home last week and have been playing catch up such as bills, mail, etc and have almost caught up with the items under motivation forum. Vacation was cut short due to mandatory evacuation but vacation's purpose was accomplished which was to throw my niece's (Jenn) ashes in the ocean on the beach she wanted. Took us 6 years to do it, but it's done and we fulfilled her last wish. Looking forward to being a part of this challenge especially after the 3.2 lbs I gained in 9 days while away. Have a great active day!

Maryalice, Joyce & Katheryn Thank you so much I'm an S.T.N.A. and worked in Nursing homes before I started being a stay at home full time care giver. We have a Alzheimer's day center that comes and transports her during the day so I can get stuff done but when the weathers bad or high humidity she can't go. Due to her COPD it takes her breath away, and this summer it's been bad looking forward to fall. It's a blessing have places let that because a lot of people think it's easy I miss going to work and getting out everyday. It's not an easy job and can be very stressful A lot of people can't seem to understand or comprehend what it involves. Enjoy your day and have a good-evening Positive choices is my goal today.

My church has a care givers care team. We don't give meds or do anything like that. We sit and read to the patient, play games, watch TV or chat for up to 4 hours. The care giver can go shopping, get her hair done, read a book take a bubble bath or just take a nap. Whatever it takes so they feel refreshed and ready to take over. Maybe there is something like that near you. I say her because my experience is 9 times out of 10 the care giver is female.

Denise I know it is hard when you are taking care of someone, my mom had paranoid dementia, and from the stress I gained even after we had to put her in assisted living care center. Be sure to take time for your self and get some away time, Kathryn you are lucking to have someone come in and help so you can get some away time. Hugs to you both

Today was our red hat lunch, we had a good time. Now to get my cardio in.

Happy Hump Day

Today I start slowly getting back into a healthy lifestyle one foot in front of the other. The past few years have been a whirlwind I now stay home full time with my sisterinlaw who has COPD Alzheimer's dementia schizophrenia and two mild strokes. I've gained about 15 pounds from three years ago. Plus we bought a new home and moved after twenty years, talk about finding things you forgot WOW still unpacking we just moved in this May. I turned sixty this summer and trying to get back on track with myself an making good choices. Wishing everyone a wonderful day of healthy living

Hi all!

emoticon Prayers and positive vibes for all in the pathway of the storm and horrific flooding. I hope you all are at least safe. I remember when Hurricane Andrew hit SE Florida/Miami/Homestead area. I was a pediatric nurse on Hurricane duty, brought my kids with me to the Children's Hospital. Riots and mayhem and more deaths than the news reported. Those poor people. Since then the government system has much improved, thank the Lord! Prevention and PREPARATION is the key. Those that think they are out of the danger area, beware!. If your live even near the border and the map says your not at risk, you may still be in potential danger. Don't risk it! It's better to lose your house, your belongings, your memorabilia than your life.

On a happier note I just lost another 4 lbs! emoticon I am 6 lbs from maintenance! Omg! Is it really happening? A new lifestyle and lots to learn! But how much better I feel being much healthier despite having chronic illnesses. I could feel a whole lot worse!

I thank the Lord every day for SparkPeople and the support, friends and opportunity to lend service to others every day.

How did this work for me? I started lurking every single day until SP rubbed off on me. After two years later I became an active participant. Now it's a lifestyle. I still sign in to SP every single day to get my shot of inspiration, motivation, learn something new and have an opportunity to help other members. It has taken me 5 whole years to lose around 50 lbs and it has not been easy. Sometimes it's been painful and emotional. Sometimes a learning experience, sometimes tons of fun and more than anything Reaping the benefits of slowly becoming the person I have always wanted to be. Healthy and happy! emoticon I have my ups and downs, sometimes like a rollacoaster. Lots of times it's been fun and a blast. I wouldn't have it any other way. emoticon

I cannot wait till the challenge starts! Why is it taking soooo long! LOL.

Come visit my disorganized, but fun page emoticon

Thanks very much for reading my post!

I don't know what kind of phone I have it is a free one given to low income. I find it a true blessing.

Yesterday was a true rest day and I took the time to dye my hair. I was trying for dark brown but got what looks like black.
emoticon hubby and I like it. My friends are taking double takes but tell me I look 20 years younger so I told hubby he is dating a 40 year old

I have always had a Samsung. and have used they well past their life expectancy. All the apps update when the apps send Samsung and update. Google is the worse and half their apps can't be removed.

You're in good company Mary Alice!! I'm 58 and I only switched from my slide phone to a smart phone a year ago. I despise that Samsung is always updating - better known as forcing apps on us Galaxy users. When this phone starts to fall apart, I'm switching over to an Iphone.

Technology isn't always a blessing! Bella

I have a smart phone, at least that is what the lady that sold it to me says. I think it is pretty stupid. All I wanted was a phone that I could call and answer. I don't need a phone that keeps trying to tell me I need this that or the other thing, and this phone is suppose to a senior special for us seniors that want to answer the phone. I have a 10 inch tablet if I don't want to get on the computer, which is easier to use, and why I would want to read on that itty bitty screen when I have a 7 inch e reader is beyond me

Sending best wishes to all in the areas Florence is hitting.

The western US could sure use some of that rain, but Mother Nature does her own thing where she wants. We.re hot - about 93 F - and the trees are starting to change for the coming Fall.

I hear you about the smart phone. I have a regular phone (I call it a dumb phone!) but it isn't a flip phone, though that was my last one. I can text easier with this one - important since my kids seem to just text instead of call and talk! Trying to text them on a flip phone was tedious to say the least!

sunday morning- still calling for tornado watch and more rain to come - some small limbs down I picked up and put in a pile by the road.. the maintenance guy trys to mow over them..so I put them out there....
this has been mainly like a rain storm here in conway.. NC was slammed.
have 2 dr apt this week.. tues & wens.......pretty sure they will be canceled.........but I had a lot of containers around full of water, and grace here dropped the phone in 1, thursday.....
quickly got it out . dried , took it a part dried and shoved into some old rice for 2 days... I have no phone - went on chat with safelink and they are sending me a free phone !!!!!! very thankful.. later when money is better I can get one I like.. too hard for me to text on a reg flip phone I am guessing they will send.. do not want a smart phone - been there done that.
