It felt so good to get my chair yoga class in yesterday. My body and my mind really needed it. Another class on Thursday. Love it emoticon

Thanks for all the tips. I like Paul Eugene on you tube. His chair exercises are a great workout!
Over the years on SP and losing 103 pounds ...all my exercise was chair exercise, walking, Wii exercise and biking. Have always done ST too. SP has all kinds of videos to use too. Even after injuries, which I had 6 months ago, chair exercise is great.
Keep at it! emoticon

Wow, those chair classes and aqua classes are really working for you! I too do IF (intermittent fasting) and find it very successful. Glad to know it is working for others too. perhaps we should start a fasting thread to chat about it, and the problems/benefits associated with it too. . .

I do chair yoga once a week and aquafit in between, also once a week. Both are perfect for this 62-year-old, arthritic body. I’ve lost 70 pounds so far using those classes and intermittent fasting. I still have 75 or so to lose but I’m almost halfway there. I’ll go onto maintenance when it feels right, not when the scale has some arbitrary number, which is why I say 75 ‘or so’, but I’m excited for this team. Let’s all support each other as we fight this fight together. I’ve been in the war since I was a kid but I’m starting to win, one battle at a time.

@PJSLIDER1 Ouch! Glad you're on top of what does/doesn't work. I've seen some rehab type workouts--wonder if they may be of benefit.

Barring any specific injuries, I found this YouTube channel's free content to be of some use too:
www.youtube.com/channel/UCsr
H0iucem3Jo
ZdHQ2yvWPA

Its "Flipping 50" for 50+ exercise. I'm focusing on incorporating one of her six recommended moves from this video (link below) into my routines to decrease any likelihood of future slips and falls. I HATE doing them (reminds me of H.S. PE class) but they are effective!

Today I did some ball exercises and enjoyed them ... well, sort of. A year ago April 30th I was in a car wreck ... got rear ended by someone who failed to stop. Still have some upper back and neck problems and some of the stretches irritated those problems and made me feel dizzy. But, I was able to come up with ways to adjust them. But how wonderful that I not only found things that worked but things that I wasn't ready for yet!

Speaking of seated workouts, I have a pintrest board that I post all kinds of workouts to (and regularly use) but I have a subsection just for workouts for 50s 60+ and seated workouts if anyone is interested.

Try to find a chair yoga class for beginners.
It's so good for mind and body.
And please do not feel you are " too fat " for yoga yoga is about stretching, mobility and wellness of the mind as well as the body.
You're moving your body and joints and that's what's important. emoticon

I went to yoga for a long time and it definitely helped with my balance issues. I also felt so much better but then I gained a few pounds and felt like I was too fat to do yoga so I stopped going.

G'mornin ladies.
I started going to chair yoga classes after Christmas and I love it. I know " chair yoga " sounds easy lol but it really isnt that easy.
Our lovely instructor really works us!!!
It has helped me with mobility issues, it's great for the joints and any soreness there.
And it's awesome for the mind.
I strongly recommend it
I also have " slowly " started walking again.
I'm starting at 20 minutes , which is 20 minutes more than I was doing lol
I hope to start using my 3 pound dumbells soon and following a SP beginner dumbbell workout.
I'm not a swimmer but I'm thinking on trying water exercise in the fall . I do lots of thinking about doing things lol now to stop thinking and start doing emoticon

Today when I logged into SparkPeople they gave me a link to modifications and exercises plans which work well for people who have 50-100 pounds to shred. Dang! Some how I lost that link. Anyway, visiting that link made me think it would make a great "thread" for discussion and posting things we have all found which did or did not work for us. Every body is different--so even a rejected, didn't work for me, may be just want someone here is looking for.

Recently I downloaded a new exercise app called "Skimble" from the app store. It seems to be available in all of the major formats including just on line for any/all who do not have mobile devices. It is like having a personal trainer. There are exercises videos and routines with instruction. I've only discovered and been using the app since May 3rd but it is really working for me. I'm sticking to the FREE version and finding it GREAT! I can preschedule a workout and it reminds me on my calendar its time to workout. They have a wide variety of workouts which are rounding out my cardio and strength training. While they keep trying to up-sell me, I'm not at the fitness level (yet, maybe never) where I need something more involved. It is quick and easy to do--even when I only have 8-15 minutes. I can switch it up by doing a routine without any weights or equipment, or adding heavier and heavier weights based on my fitness level. They even have rebounder interval training (which is way better than doing my rebounder alone without someone telling me to rest with a healthy bounce now or ramp it up with full out effort). They even have warm-up/cool-down and pre-bed time stretching routines which help me get a better night's sleep, as I'm not all "tight" or bound up. I can modify the exercises as needed.

If you check it out--add me. Here is my profile link:

The other thing I do was also included on the SP article (I unfortunately didn't get the link to) is Pilates. I find that I can modify Pilates to increase or decease the move to my fitness level and body shape/size. Works great. There are other gals who are in our age group who are also doing it with me and I post daily workout videos here on SP to a team we're all on. I did these routines before dropping the 21 pounds (I've lost so far) haphazardly and then for the past year+ every day doing at least one of the videos. Found I can do many of the routines in water aerobics so that's nice too....for a switch up.

Looking forward to what others share is working for you....
