I will not give up! To end the month, I will do cardio exercise daily, eat within calorie range of 1200/1500, sleep 8 hours /24 and drink 5 cups of water daily.

OMG BP is now up to 139/61 and pulse 52This is the best! 61? Haven't seen that in the longest time! So excited. That's why I feel the energy to move. I had stopped taking my BP for a bit as I Knew it was low by my energy level which was very low but the last few days felt so much better. Sorry for rambling on but so excited. And yes the swelling is back, even my face, my eyes are nearly shut and my feet overflow my shoes Now it's to get that under control and I'll be just as good as new - I wish - LOL

I went to see my doctor this week. I took my BP machine with me and showed her my last 60 takes. She said it was definitely to low, I explained how I felt; like sweating while wiping dishes, walk and literally drag my feet, falling asleep in my chair etc. I had my husband in with me for support and didn't want to miss anything. She then explained that my BP (DIA at 36) was so low that my metabolism was also at it's lowest - not burning any calories - therefore the weight gain of 6 pounds - , the profuse sweating while wiping dishes was like a healthy person running a mile for me etc. She cut down one of my medication by half. The down side of this is that my kidneys don't eliminate as they should and I'll be swelling again soon. My feet then will be sore again and make it difficult for me to walk, Either way it affects my weight and make it hard to lose every pound lost. It is a battle that I will win but have to work really hard at it. My heart isn't good so the water retention is not good for me either so we will try this for a month. The only good thing about this is that I now have an explanation about my weight gain. AND thanks to Spark, another member urged me to visit my doctor!

I know the type. A sad, pitiful person whose self confidence is so low she needs to drag others down in order to feel better about herself. The problem is hers, not yours. Do what you need to do to take care of yourself.

I totally get this! It can be very tricky dealing with someone like your "friend". I would say distance yourself from her. If you attend the same functions, sit away from her but do not bad mouth or talk to anyone else about her at all. If you are on the receiving end of her viper tongue and she makes snarky comments to your face, I would look her in the eye and ask her what you ever did to her to cause her to be so mean to you. You could do the same thing if she bad mouths you to the rest of the group. That usually brings a person like that up short. She may not even be aware of what she is doing or...she may get some perverse satisfaction from hurting others. If you speak up, you'll either improve your relationship or be able to ignore her without feeling guilty. Either way, it is a win-win for you.

I wasn't sure where to post this so I apologize if it isnt in the right spot.
I just need to get a situation with a "friend " off my chest so I hope you dont mind me venting.
We've been friends only 3 years but not really close friends. She is very unpredictable , is very negative , very snarky at times and says some pretty out of the way things about others , including myself .
I'm sorry to say, I dont enjoy being in her company because of all of these things. I'm very uncomfortable around her and her negative energy. At my age now, 54, I just want to be around people who make me happy, comfortable and positive.
Her 70th birthday was in May, I wished her a happy b.d. and gave her a nice card. Last night somehow a conversation came up at an event several of us attended , about birthdays.
She looked right at me and pointed out how disappointed she was that I forgot her 70th b.d.
It floored me.
I said " no i didn't i gave you a nice card and wished you a happy b.d. "
She rolled her eyes, made a sarcastic face and said "oh wow , a card ". The other ladies in our group didnt give her a card or gift either. At least i gave her a freakin card.
It really pissed me off.
We attend the same yoga classes and the same cooking club every week, so I cant totally avoid her ( though I'd love to)
She is not a nice person to be around.
I often organize our group get togethers outside of cooking club , so I cant leave her out of these functions.
So heres the thing , there are several of us getting together for a girls bowling night July 1st and there are a few other friends of mine interested in going. I want to have a no stress, fun night with my other friends so I'm not telling her about it .
She ruins everybody's fun so having her there wouldn't be fun.
Am I doing the right thing ? Why do I feel guilty? Thank you

My 3 yr. old granddaughter is spending the weekend with me. When she looks at me she doesn’t see someone needing any improvement. She just sees someone who loves her and wants to play with her. She’s been such an inspiration!

Yesterday on SP, I read an interchange between two different Spark Friends.

Spark Friend 1 (SF1): Wrote a Blog.
Spark Friend 2 (SF2): Answered: You are beautiful! telling SF1 not to worry about anything that she is good the way she is

SP2 later commented--she needed to follow her own advice and realize she is beautiful too.

I thought that entire interchange was encouraging and inspiring!

You're welcome. Anything I can do to help.
Another thing is gluten free eating. If you have gut issues all the time, try it for a month, see if you feel better. Then try wheat, barley, oats or eye after that. If you react to it, you're intolerant. I found that was me. Feel so much better and have been gluten free for 3 years.

I'm working on lowering my carbs now and higher proteins. I have a whey protein drink a day, mixed with a scoop of bountiful beets powder, 1 tsp phyllium, cinnamon and 8-10 blueberries. So good and nutritious with all those amino acids.

There will be stumbles along the way .
The important thing is to get up after those stumbles , dust ourselves off and start over

After many setbacks over the 8 years I've been on SP, I can say you should not give up, no matter what! Count those calories, exercise and get off the sugar and junk foods. Take a good supplement everyday too. It makes a difference!
I lost 103 pounds and still need to lose 50 more and I am staying strong!
