Any of you who joined the WorldWalking site - I renamed the team to remove the year since in a little bit it will no longer be 2020 - the team name is now just "SP Go the Distance"

Anyone is welcome to join us - we're only about half way around the Mediterranean.

I have been kind of in and out...here and health wise...a light bout of Covid..but it seems to have longer after effects , in recovery..but every day is a new question of what is it gonna be.
Trying to hang in there...doing what I can within reason..but know better than to push it.
Thank you for this team..our leaders and all that just keep on keeping on...
We appreciate you all.

Hello I have been lazy about posting my running miles. I kept a record and finally filled in the blanks today. I am so far behind. I really wanted to get that 2,020 miles this year but it will not happen with about 588 miles behind so far. One month left to go and the push is on!!

Without this 2020 challenge I probably wouldn't have accomplished half of these miles so ..Thank you team leaders "Emily & Heidi" for a very fun idea.

Kathleen, I guess I will find out how close I am to my goal that I set at the beginning of the year after I finish getting everything posted. One thing I do know is that we are probably doing more because of this team than we would have if we just winged it on our own.

Kelli, welcome to the team. I hope it helps you as much as it had motivated me.

I am finally back home where I have my computer to make it easier to do SparkPeople posts. I will be attempting to fill in my missing miles for the past few months.

I am so grateful to the team leaders for setting this team up. It has motivated me to do more than I would have imagined at the beginning of the year! Again, thank you!

Really enjoying the challenge 2,020 this year. But I have fallen behind and probably won't make the 2,020 miles but I may get close! And it is still fun!

Hi Everyone

I find the best way to keep up, is to post my miles every day or every two days, then on a Sunday, I add up my miles and award myself a goodie. I did fall behind at one time and it took quite a while to catch up, so I'm determined not to do that again.

I wont make my 2020 miles but I am more than half way and I hope to get at least 75% of the way there. Covid19 put a hold on some of the activities I do. We've had good news that Parkrun is opening up again at the end of October. If you don't know about Parkrun, its a free 5kms timed run/jog/walk. I'm a walker with the occasional bouts of jogging and I've got my 5kms down to about 49 minutes so not bad. Its free because its run by volunteers. I volunteer to be tail walker lots throughout a year as its a win win for me. I get to volunteer and I still get to walk.

Have a wonderful day everyone. Its going to be another nice sunny spring day in Western Australia.

Once again I am posting that I got so far behind I cannot catch up ..have not had 5 minutes to track my time and so tired at night that there is nothing left of me. So a fresh start on Sept 1..and roll over what miles I managed to track!
As life settles down I anticipate getting back on a bit more of "my" schedule..ahh One can hope right!!

I'm back in the office now and trying to find my old normal. Just updated the past few months of activity. When everything went haywire, I stopped tracking. April's numbers were ugly, but May picked up again. I'm hoping for a much better June!

Hello
I hope everyone is still sheltering at home until this virus is under control.. I do miss walking at the gym but they are still closed and I just do the best I can. I walk my small neighborhood and walk to get the mail everyday. Sometimes I walk in the house with the CDs when the weather is rainy. We just so what we can safely do.

I am way behind in my YTD miles but I plan on walking more this month. emoticon

My weight has stayed the same. That is a good thing.

Kathleen, after reading that you were getting your Leslie Sansone walking CDs out I dug mine out. It may be too hot here to walk outside, but it's air-conditioned inside. I plan to keep walking late at night until it gets too hot and humid to do so ... which is in about 4-5 more weeks.

I am experimenting with growing my own salad makings inside since it is already too hot for lettuce here. I would love to have a fresh salad that I grew in my Texas room.

If anyone is interested, the website that I use for my RunTheYear challenge, is hosting a FREE challenge to help people stay motivated to exercise. It links to your step tracker like Fitbit (or a bunch of other trackers) and if you don't have a tracker that it can link with, you can enter your miles manually (for example, if you do a 1-mile video walking workout). Here is a link to the challenge. It's 100% free. Let me know if there are any problems with the link.

Everything is shut down here as well. They were unable to lock the doors to our covered pool, so I have been able to do water exercises three times a week.

It is getting too hot and humid to walk during the day and our fitness center is locked, so no treadmills. I have been walking late at night when it has cooled off, although it is still humid enough that I have to take a shower when I get home. At least I'm able to get some steps in though!

Just checking in here. Hope everyone is healthy and keeping away from crowd of people.

As probably with all of you I am staying home and away from crowds as recommended because of the virus. I have many hobbies and I don't work so I can find lots to do everyday at home. The only thing I really miss is going to the gym to walk on the treadmill. That was something I did most days of the week. Early morning I would go and walk for one hour. I really miss that.

I have been walking as much as possible at home and a few times I watched a walking tape too. But it is not the same as the gym. I am not walking the miles I normally would just can't get into it - too much on my mind. Everything here in Pennsylvania is closed except for the grocery stores and gas stations. The schools have closed for the rest of the term here in PA and NJ and my grand kids are learning online at home.

We all hope this Virus passes quickly and life can go back to normal for all of us.
Keep safe and healthy.

TYLER - How exciting about your new puppy. I hope he is adjusting well to his new surroundings.

I have not had a good week. Tired and lazy. I only walked 10 miles for the whole week. I just didn't feel up to it. Hopefully I am not coming down with something. Just hope it was an off week. I have a lot of catching up to do in miles walked!!

I am hoping to pick it up in February because (drum roll please!) pending home check in the next few days, we're getting a greyhound! We don't have a yard, so there will be lots of walks in my future which should help increase my daily mileage. I'm hoping to catch up and go over my goal for February. Goodness knows, I need it in order to get back on track!

January is finished and I did well by walking everyday. But I am already about 30 miles behind for the year but i know I will make up for it when the warmer weather arrives in a few months.
I plan on really pushing myself to get the 6 miles I need every day in February.

This is fun!

I can really relate to that, when I was working I often had to walk for a couple hours to make my 10K. I am retired so there really is no excuse.
Yes, we can do this!
Good Luck in February.

@FITNESS57

I definitely understand how you feel about constantly feeling like you're walking. I work in a pretty sedentary office and once I get home I feel like I have to walk constantly in order to get to 14,000 steps. (For instance, it's 3:10pm now and I'm currently at 4,330 steps. I average 100-110 steps per minute, so I have 88 to 97 minutes more of constant walking left to hit my daily mileage goal.) Recently, I just haven't had it in me and I've fallen to an average of 4.41 miles per day. But there's still 11 more months to catch up!

Stay strong, my friends!

Hi All
With one more day in January I have 8 emoticon and have 160.99 miles so I am averaging about 5.3 miles a day. My stretch goal is 5.5 a day, some days it just doesn't happen. I have to get 14000 steps to get 5.5 miles. I was averaging a bit over 10k in December so this is good. Only thing is I sometimes feel like I am doing nothing but walking, I am trying to make it at least interesting by doing things like Mall walk in a new location (not always easy).
Good luck to all.

There's a new Mediterranean one. You might have to go into the group page to add it to tour walk options, though. Not sure.

@STEPGEEK My step chart looks like I'm climbing mountains! I need to work on being a little more consistent with it. Or maybe my body is telling me to slow down a bit. Just stick to my goal and don't go over it. .... but we do have 351 more days emoticon

@ESSENTIALLYME I'm currently behind on mileage for the month/year, too, but we have time to catch up. Right now I just need to add about 0.5 miles per day to my planned mileage and I'll actually be ahead of schedule. I'm dealing with some pain and stress management issues right now, though, so I'm just hoping to keep up right now, let alone add mileage.

We can do it, though. I have faith!

Good Morning guys!
I didn't reach my goal of 13,000 steps yesterday, only got 12,790. But it's all good, I'm only 16.5 miles behind schedule to get the 2020 in a year.

@FITNESS57 .... What's a snowflake?

Way to go @KATHLEEN624 !!

Hi Everyone,
I am finding tracking mileage is very motivating. I have now earned my 3rd snowflake.
Yesterday, I did 6 miles.
It is challenging to do all this walking in my house, sometimes we go to mall. Fortunately, my husband is a decent walking partner when he isn't in pain. He suffers from back pain, since he broke a vertbrae a few years ago.
Hope everyone has a successful week.
Deana
