Antibody test may be helpful. There was no Hashi test when I was dx'd at 16. Doctors just assume I have Hashi since it is very common. My antibody level was low the last time I was tested.

Have your doctor check for Hashimoto Thyroiditis as it may give you some insite to what is going on.

Sandy is right, but TSH can also vary depending on diet, sleep, relaxation, daylight, vitamins, hormones, cold, flu, infection, medication, air quality etc. I attended an autoimmune seminar last month on this subject. Thyroid patients need higher med dose during fall and winter and less in spring and summer. Women's hormones fluctuate several times daily. A slight hormone change or smallest amount of dehydration will cause thyroid med not to work.

Keep testing on regular basis and adjust med if necessary. Good luck.

If you have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, your TSH can go up and down.

My TSH was within the range 2years ago and at that time I was taking 125mcg levothyroxine and 10mcg cytomel. Then all of a sudden it jumps to 36. Adjusted dosage to 150mcg levo and 15mcg t3 and tsh came down to normal. This July I checked again and it is 40! Changed the dosage to 175mcg levo and 15mcg t3. Haven't rechecked yet. Any idea why it goes that high all of a sudden?

Thanks
