Hi all - it's been quite a summer. DH and I went to Venice, Italy for a cruise to Athens, Olympia, Corfu, Santorini, Croatia (Dubrovnik) and Bari (Italy). We stayed in Venice for a couple days and then went to Israel for 12 days on a tour. Cruise was amazing, as was Israel. In Tel Aviv, air raid sirens (and getting into safe shelter) was a daily occurence. Life resumed with the all-clear, which was typically about 30 seconds. We actually saw rockets intercepted in the sky. That said, we always felt safe and our tour never missed a beat. What a beautiful country!

Hi - thanks for the sweet note and goodie! I miss you, too! How was your Easter? Passover was quiet - not too many kids came home because it was too close to finals. What are you up to these days? Any plans for the summer?

I've been trying to reclaim my execise routine now that my classes are done. Going on vacay in late June, so I'm trying to drop a few lbs in order to pig out on the trip.

Erin: How exciting that you are training for a HM - I didn't know that!!!! It must be much harder to run when it's so cold outside (LOL I have issues when it's in the 60/70s). I know you'll do great - listen to your body, tho!

I'm in Los Angeles visiting DD26 this weekend. Trying NOT to eat my way through the city, but there are so many iconic restaurants here! Spring break when I get home on Monday...will have an (almost) full house for the week. YAY!!!

Quiet month here for the partners!

I am 3 weeks out for my HM. Starting to freak out a little, but not pressuring my self. Its been a rough winter with tons of snow. I have managed to do all my training outside, whcih has made for some slow but adventurous runs. it really takes your mind off running and how far/fast you are going when you are looking at your feet the whole time.

I have only lost a few pounds. I have been eating like a bottomless pit. Ran 10 Sunday for the first time - EVER. I wasn't pretty, not sure if it was poor fueling or the fact that I did 6 the day before. The last two miles were the worst. Hoping the half goes much better than that. I am going out of town this weekend, hope to get a long run in at some point, but it'll be tough. I am taking 5 girls (10-14yo) to Penn State for a women's bball game.

I was pretty good this weekend. Went to my parents to celebrate my dad's bday. Ate well, but kept the portions in moderation (I think!) Went on two good runs, 4 miles Saturday am and 6 Sunday. We were going out for brunch so I ran to the restaurant, nothing like a destination run with food at the end!!! Talk about the proverbial carrot! LOL.

Made it home in time to watch the Superbowl. We made tacos, I made mine a salad (albeit a LARGE salad!) No munchies.I was routing for the Seahawks, so I thought it was good game.

Snowing here today. Starting about 6am and had 4+ inches of heavy snow by 8am. Still coming down! So no run today, but lots of heavy snow to shovel when I get home from work.

Trying to break a plateau back into the 120s. Lots of veggies here, too. I'm trying to make nice with the scale, but as long as I weigh in, I know I'll be more likely to behave (even it it makes me upset to see the #).

The scale is a huge jerk these days but I am getting on just to see if the improvements I see are making a difference on the number. It's not! What the heck!! But I am plugging away anyway, getting in all the veggies I can and getting my workouts even when I really just want to sit on the couch and drink wine. Yay me! I have triggered a little inflammation in my rotator cuff so that's the last of the pushups for me for awhile.

Nice to see a little activity here! Long time no see, Suzie! Erin, I always envy that you have friends to do these things with!

Took a Yoga class last night for the first time in months. It was great to get back into it again, but boy I am always reminded why they call it a "practice"!!

Today I am doiing TRX w/ running circuits with a couple of girlfriends. I always feel that the next day.

I am goiing to my parents this weekend, looking forward to a couple long runs around Penn State!

Hope everyone had a nice weekend. We saw Jeff Dunham (a ventriliquist) on Sat. nite. Some of his comedy was pretty edgy, which made it all the more fun! DH and I went on long walks both Sat (7.5 miles/5.5 miles) - YAY!

Congrats Anne! That is such a great feeling of accomplishment! And- YES- You can get a hard belly again after baby!

Well, would you look at (the rest of) us! We really do need each other. Every time we step away from Sp thinking we "have got this!" we come back with added fluff and pounds. I am back to needing to that 10lbs.

Well, after fighting the flu this week I am down a few, but not the ideal way to loose it. Wasn't able to exercise at all this past week and food just did not appeal to me at all. I got limited substance. Now I am back in the land of the living but food still doesn't appeal to me?? WTH? Well, I'll try to use that to my advantage although don't worry, now I at least have hunger pains and I don't ignor those! ;) Just trying to keep clean!

I was able to get out and run yesterday. It was supposed to be a 7 mile day but had to settle for 5.5 miles. I was quite happy about those miles though. After suffering from the calf strain 2 weeks ago then the flu I didn't think I'd make it down the street. Used my new calf compression sleeves (they are WONDERFUL) and my breathing was fine! Ran with my good friend and we chatted the enrtire way, making it go by so much faster!

This morning I did Insanity Plyo. Man-o-man it was hard! I am getting T25 next week - can't wait to get started on that one. Only 25 min/day 5x week. I think I can handle that along with my increased milage.....

I guess I got too lazy to check in here and it took FB to remind me how important SP is to me. Are you all going to stay on FB or on this thread? I'd like to stay with you all wherever you post!

I've been trying hard to behave, but the lbs have creeped up to high 120s/low 130s. YUCK - that's not what I wanted when I join SP many years ago. My main goal was to stop yo-yo ing and I need to refocus on eating 'good carbs', counting calories and eliminating junk. Seems like I can't stay consistent with calorie counting on SP - I measure/count in my head, which is sooooo dangerous to my overall goals. So, why am I am a hypocrit? Why is there such a disconnect between my head and my mouth?

Anne, I am so happy for you! 13 lbs?? What a great feeling!

I haven't stepped on the scale since I refocused after Christmas because I do not want to see the number, truthfully. I'd fluffed up a bunch since summer, but until I started popping out of my clothes wasn't ready to make any changes. Now I've put my mind back to watching my food intake and am trying to make my workouts more effective. The food has been the hard part for me, which is unusual. I am not wanting to fall back into counting calories as nut as that sounds. The tedium sets me up for failure. I just need to figure out how to make my choices matter without the counting.

Erin, how is insanity? I really don't think I could make it through one of those workouts. Way to much cardio for me.

Things are going well over here. Down over 13 lbs and I now weigh the least I have since mom got sick over 4 years ago. Hoping to keep that going even though I am pretty positive my belly is never going to look like it did pre pregnancy. It is still so squishy.

Hello Partners!

Happy New Year! Hope everyone is stickin gto their resolutions better than I am! I have decided that I NEED to track to track my food. That is the only way I am going to drop these extra pounds. Feel free to check in on me and give me he** if I am not being consistant!

I have been running and doing Insanity (Beachbody). I am training for a half marathon in March. Seemed to have over done it, strained my calf muscle - increased milage too quickly on hilly terrain. Taking a week off from that but trying to find other avenues of exercise.

Has anyone tried TRX before? It is supsension exercises using your body weight. AWESOME workout. I have been doing this off and on with a couple friends (who are also training for the HM with me) at out indoor track. Try sometime if you get the opportunity!

I decided to try and get the stress weight off. I actually joined MyFitnessPal on the 1st and have lost 9 lbs already (holiday weight, I think). I like their phone app a lot better than Sparks and that helps keep me on track better. Are any of you on there?

As a vegetarian, I ate eggs and dairy. As a vegan I've eliminated those foods. I watched the documentary "Forks over Knives" and it really made sense to me.

Hi Susan! Nice to hear from you. Excuse my ignorance, but how does vegan differ from vegetarian? What are your food challenges now? Your dog sounds adorable - those are long walks! My dog can't go down our driveway without konking out (he's a 14 yo pug).

Belated Happy Thanksgiving, Partners!! I have missed you all SOOOOOOOOOOO much!!! I decided to take the plunge and go vegan in Sept. (Have been vegetarian for a year in Dec). Started losing right away. Weight is staying between 121.5 and 122.5. Enjoying cooking and trying tons of new recipes. I haven't run since Sept 1, but have walked every day. We got a new dog Sept 1st (Jack Russell named "Vino") and we walk him 2 miles every morning and again most evenings, and 4-6 miles on Sat. and Sun.

That being said....went to PA to my M-I-L's for a week for Thanksgiving and though I stayed vegan - I did not do well with my eating. Ate junky things that I had stayed away from - plus LOTS of wine. So my plan is to get back on track tomorrow and not weigh for a week. I think in a week I can get rid of the fake weight I've probably gained and avoid beating myself up for enjoying the holidays a little too much. Also, I'm picking up an eliptical I'm getting from a friend tomorrow and between walking, stair climbing at work and the elipitical, I'll have my workouts covered.

What's new with my Partners? Can't wait to hear!!

Hey, hey, hey girlfriend! Yes, Mark had lots of fun. He made it out just before a tornado threat shut down the airport! Glad to hear you are making good choices - that is definitely movement in the right direction!!!! How's your beautiful son doing?

Our next big trip is to Peru 1 month from today - I need to behave for the month, so I can go into the vacay at bit lower weight (haha - to pig out there). Going to ratch-up my cardio/running and stick to a lower carb diet. That means dropping 3-5 lbs.

First off I want to say, Suzie, it was so great to meet you!! I finally met a partner after all this time. So glad to hear you had a nice time in Louisville.

How is everyone else doing? We need to get to posting again. I promise to do better.

I have started to try and get rid of all my stress weight that I gained in 2010! Last Wednesday I took my measurements and tried to ease into it. I am going to do Jillian's Body Revolution and walk a ton. Maybe start up yoga again. And only track 2-3 times a week just to keep in check. Trying to not put as much pressure on losing weight as I normally do. Hopefully it works and I don't burn out immediately.

DH had a staycation this past weekend in Delray Beach. Stayed at a hotel right off the beach and to our delight there was a seafood/wine festival right outside the door. Pefect weather, too!

Today is DS9's birthday. We had the birthday cake celebration over the weekend so tonight I got a pumpkin pie (yes, I didn't bake it) which fortunately is NOT a trigger food for me. Candy on the other hand, is, so I am going to actually try to not even have one piece of it. Whooa!!!

Now I need to get the drywaller out of my house so I can uncover my treadmill - how I am missing my old friend!

Back from Orlando (just went overnight). DS21 plays 1st trumpet in Stetson U's orchestra so we went to hear the performance...took my 90 father along. It was a lovely experience.

Sara: So nice to hear from you! I/we miss your wicked sense of humor. Glad you are feeling empowered now and hoping all is well in your world.

I had a fabulous weekend in Louisville KY - the highlight was meeting Anne and her beautiful baby boy! Thanks for spending time with me!!!! Haha - I went back to Nords with DS22 and pigged out on the maple bacon donut! We went to Havana Rumba for dinner - it was excellent!

We also went to a few bourbon distilleries (not my favorite spirit, but hey, when in KY....) and then all the way to Mammoth Cave Natl park. One tour took us 250 feet down to view these gorgeous rock formations. Stunning! On Sunday, went to Churchill Downs, the KY derby site.

Visiting DS 21 near Orlando this weekend.

I won tix to see Michael Buble the following weekend - yay! Lots of fun things coming up!!!

Partners! How I miss you all!

I have been doing okay, picked up a few bad habits late in the summer that I am working on getting rid of. See, once school started, everything spun out of control with the kids' activities and homework, and I quit making health a priority. Finally now I am taking back control, and hope to shed the lbs I picked up. Actually, it is a long, depressing story but I am trying to focus on the future!

Suzie, thanks for the goodie! It's so good to be remembered by you guys! I like to think one day we will all be back here regularly supporting each other! Karen, we need to see the baby girl!!!

Hi partners! So sorry for the long silence!!! Cray cray here...let's see...Quinn born 5/18 then found "the" house about 3 weeks after that and moved 8/1. I can't say I recommend it, but we are getting caught up bit by bit & it will ultimately be a great move for us :)

Sooo haven't stepped on a scale in months but I think I might have to and then I will need some hand-holding and tough love!!!

Ah, the emo eating!!!! Recognize that you don't need to punish yourself via poor food choices. Despite the stress you (and your cousin) are undoubtably experiencing, try to find alternative ways to reduce anxiety/fear of the unknown. Seems like you're on the right track for finding appropriate ways to divert your attention away from the fridge. Stay positive - your family needs you to be healthy!

Having trouble with food again. My cousin got diagnosed with breast cancer recently. I have been unable to speak with her because she is so tired. What do I do? Eat. I am confessing to stop my pattern. I will pick up a book to read instead to calm my anxiety.

I get those comments all the time...you just need to smile and stand your ground. You know what you need and don't need (to eat). Focus on the healthy stuff. I have another issue that always takes me off course - I get compliments, which always seems to trigger bad choices. I need to change that pattern!!!!

Suzie thanks for asking about the PT and supporting me. It's going great. I have less pain. Good for you for going to school!!! All the best to you!

Bad news ladies... bad eating habits have come back with no exercise (Physical Therapist's orders) except walking (used to do 500 calorie burning workouts with strength training). No surprise: I have gained 4 pounds. I am upset about it, but I had my 39th birthday on Sat and I bought a delicious carrot cake to share with friends and family. Everything in moderation, right?

It's like a food addiction that I have. I also noticed my new pants are getting too tight. emoticon

I have to learn how many calories I am burning with walking 3 miles. I think 256 calories according to an internet site.

Why was it that people are not happy with my weight loss? My mom and a friend consistently say things like, "Please eat this or that because you CAN; you are too thin."
I don't like these comments. Did anyone else notice that of others close to you? How do you deal with it? My husband is happier when I am healthier. I wish my other fam and friends were like that.

OOOO - so nice to see a bit more activity on the thread as we all return to school routines.

I'm back at school myself. Only one child left at home (15 yikes - she got her driver's learning permit - scary!!!). DD25 is moving to LA this week. DS23 got a job on a cruise ship selling art and just left for Venice, Italy a few days ago. DS 21 is back at school with a girlfriend (I got to meet her last weekend - sweet).

Feels good to have a schedule again.

Hi Partners!!! I can't believe how long it has been since I last posted. Nuts. Back in March we decided to move back to Louisville in May so Joe could make enough for me to stay home with Simon. Four months later we finally have a house. Temporary living with a baby is not fun. We moved in about a week ago and I am finally ready to work out again. It has been a WHILE. My weight is still right around my prepregnancy weight but now it is time to tackle the rest of it.

Simon is 10 months old and crawling all over the place. He is a great baby but a horrible sleeper. We are working on it though. Any tips from you pro-moms?

Hi partners! I am checking in! Summer is officially over for us - kids went back to school yesterday and that means it is time to check out of "Summer Mentality." That for me meant I have had lots of ice cream (LOTS!) and have not gotten in my veggies every day especially while traveling, and "What the heck....I will have a second glass of wine!" I enjoyed it and don't regret it. But I do look forward to getting into a routine again.

Khadija, we just barely missed each other in Los Angeles - I was there at the end of July doing the Disney/Universal circuit as well. I had physical therapy a year ago for my rotator cuff, was really good about the doing the exercises, and now it is like new :) Hope yours go as well.

Erin, Liz, Susan, Suzie, I've kind of kept up with your summers through Facebook, and it looks like they've been fun! Post when you can!

Hello Partners!

Physical Therapy started...PT said don't do any exercise that would strain certain muscle groups. It's hard to remind myself to the PT prescribed exercises instead. The PT did say walking is ok...so change in my routine is really necessary. I need to also really control what I eat now even more, cuz I'm not burning as many calories.

I went to Los Angeles and visited Universal Studios, Hollywood last weekend. Girls started high school shortly after we came back. It was a great summer, while it lasted. Life is returning back to the grind.

Glad we are still leaning on each other for support. It's hard to maintain my weight as changes occur in my routine. I tend to eat more...but I will try not to. I took a trip to the library and got some books that I actually want to read for fun.

GOAL for this Week: When I have urge to munch in the kitchen, I will try to read instead to control my unhealthy snacking. I will report back to you all to see how I do.

It's been one week of clean eating & Insanity. It was a tough week, down almost 2 lbs! Didn't get a work out in today, and yesterday was my rest day, however I did go for a run. Survived a weekend at my parents and came home the same weight as Friday! Small victories right?

Tomorrow I am going out of town for work (staying with DH's grandma) probably won't be able to do Insanity DVD there, so ill pack my running shoes. Really don't want tot get behind!

Hi Suzie and Khadija! Looks like you two are the keeping the partner thread alive! Sounds like you both are having a good summer, with great getaways!

It's been a crazy, busy, fun filled summer. Liz and I had a wonderful vacation to Montana. Stayed active hiking, some running, whitewater rafting, sight seeing........ Happy to report I did not gain either on vaca!! Way to go US!

However, I am still up from where I want to be. Tomorrow I am starting Insanity again (I was 45 days in out of 60 when I went on vacation but haven't done much since getting back.). I am also doing a 30 day Tony Horton Clean Eating challenge. Let me know if you are interested in details, I'll post them. It would be nice to have partners to keep me accountable!

Hubby has been home all summer. I can't tell you how wonderful it's been. The only traveling he's done is with us. He leaves next week for 10 days in DC which I plan to take total advantage of~ meaning we'll get to visit on the weekends! I love DC. It's a such a great city.

Hello! We were on vacation and just came back. I've gained only one pound on vacation. Not bad. We had a great Fourth of July!

My husband's diabetes is controlled with meds and he actually missed biking! Wow, what a change in lifestyle for the better!

I am getting pains from endometriosis, again. I possibly need surgery. So I have consistent pain bending down and touching my toes. The doctors are talking about a complete hysterectomy (with ovaries). I am not exercising as vigorously as I did before, but I'm still managing to walk. I could run as well, but don't have the energy. I biked 6 miles 2 weeks ago and had nausea for two days because of the pressure to my pelvic area. So no more biking with hubbie emoticon

Hello All!

I have a confession to make:

I ate two Ms. Field's cookies and Mc Donald's fries (few). I also stopped exercising for a week. I've been down and lazy. It is not healthy and I don't want to live this way. Life has its ups and downs, but exercising was a great way to deal with stress. I need to start moving aggressively again.

Suz- how do you like the "LOSEIT" app? is it for the iPhone? I haven't found one that I really like to use yet.

Susan- HELLO!!!! I have missed you, although I have been MIA too. Sounds like you are doing quite well, don't beat yourself up over holiday gain, remember the term "Fake Weight"??? I'tll come right off.

I finally saw movement in the scale today. Down 1.6lb from yesterday. Let's hope this continues in the right direction, I am getting frustrated putting in all this hard word with no (numeric) reward. Just completed Day 3 Week 4 of Insanity. I am feeling my muscles getting tighter, I think I even saw some abs yesterday!! LOL The work out does not really get easier, but my endurance is improving.

Kids are out of school at the end of the week, wish they were already done since they aren't doing anything in school now anyway. Soo ready for SUMMER!

Glad you got those sneakers - there's a lot of symbolism in buying them for yourself, too!

Day 5 tracking...I'm finding some discrepancies between the SP calorie counts and LOSEIT (my phone app). Latter has higher cals. Also, my allotted cals are much lower compared to SP for getting to my goal weight.

Keep on going Suzie! 1400 is what I could handle too in combination with burning 2000 cal a week. SP tracker worked for me!

I finally bought my shoes! I went three hours of shoe shopping. In one store I went to, the salesperson compared shopping for the perfect running shoe to shopping for a car. The newer models are priced high. The older models are lower in price. No mileage on this older model though! ;) I got Asics Kahana 4. Budget and quality fit and I went through a foot analysis at Road Runner Sports. The shoes were pretty pricey but you get a quality shoe! You can also get better clearance prices online! It was a very good experience.

Nice to see your post, Susan: Sounds like you are where you need to be - determined not to let bad eating habits rule. Congrats on staying active and maintaining your weight.

Khadija: Thanks for the encouragement. I'm on day 3 of eating clean and staying below 1400. I'm trying to follow the SP diet. I'm not sure if 1400 is low enough to lose 1.5 per week, but it's very hard for me to realistically get any lower.

Hi Partners! Wow - I haven't been here in two months. I've missed you all.

I WAS doing really well - weight down to 125, really eating well (and LESS). Then came Memorial Day Weekend (4 days for me). Now up to 127.5 and feeling bloated and disgusted. But, once again, today is a new day. Ran 4 miles in the humid weather at 5am and on track with my yogurt/strawberry/Kashi Go Lean breakfast. Hubby picking me up for lunch (Mexican) and committed to just one bean tostada.

Vacation in California Wine Country 7/3-17. Good reason to get back on track NOW!!!

@ Susan (GRIF 01) - Thank you so much for showing me the positive side of diabetes. It truly is one of the healthiest diets out there. I so needed to hear that and I refer to that mantra daily. DT2 is a change in lifestyle so it helps. emoticon

@ Suzie - Why are you eating so many biscotti? Food tracking on SP does really help get me back on track ! I just threw away Oatmeal Raisin Cookies yesterday....Why? I uncontrollably munched on them when my husband's sugar was really high. I ate maybe 20 mini-cookies or more. I confess. I know it was bad eating, but my emotional eating was getting out of control and I was frustrated about my daughter's music recital and my dishwasher is still unrepaired, and my knees still hurt from walking in my old shoes, i am still putting myself last, blah, blah, blah etc emoticon ! I took control back and threw away the cookies! That was empowering.

Speaking about knees...do you have access to a swimming pool? That could be an awesome cardio that is easy on your knees! Please check with your dr. for other ideas. Perhaps Physical Therapy is needed through a Dr.'s referral? emoticon

I haven't been weighing myself and my weight is UPPPPPPPP!!! I'm so mad at myself. I reset everything and am starting fresh. Going to track all food/exercise/water etc. Goal: 6 lbs off by 7/8.

Anyone want/need a food diary buddy?!?!? PULEEEEZ!!!!

I googled my knee problem and the online consensus is to rest/take daily anti-imflamatory/icepack/physical therapy, so I'm reconsidering my "it's only tendenitis" mantra. I'm so bummed!!! So what do I do for cardio now?

Hi Erin: You seem to make juggling a million things so natural - hope you enjoy the visit with your parents and the hometown celebration.

My knee's been giving me grief for many months (which I ignored), but I finally went to see an ortho, who told me it was patella tendenitis and to stay away from anything that had to do with pavement/treadmill or cycling for 6 weeks. At least it didn't have to do with cartlidge. I took this week off, but since it's 'only' tendenitis, I'm getting back to cardio next week. I can't stand being inactive, especially since my summer schedule allows for me to be at the gym everymorning. GRRRRR.

HELLO!!

Khadija- Congrats on maintaining! Sometimes that can be harder than loosing! Sounds like DH is doing well dealing with his diagnosis. My mom was diagnosed DT2 several years ago and is able to maintain just by diet and exercise. It is definately a lifestyle change- but a healthy one! Really, I think, its one of the healthiest "diets" out there.

Suz- Seriously! Your travel schedule is thrilling!

Sarah- glad to hear you are doing so well!

Karen- your baby girl is absolutely precious! looks like you are both doing very well.

Work blocked this site so I haven't been able to get on there, and I just can't seem to find the time (or, sadly, remember!) to log on at home. I started Insanity, but had to stop due to another bout with allergies. Started up again last week, so just completed week 2. LOVE the workout. I feel like the weight should be melting off, but for some reason I am actually up 2 lbs (not muscle!!). My eating has been relatively clean, save a cookie here and & there. I am literally drenched when I get done. Very frustrating. I am trying to get some running in as well, but finding that time is always difficult for me.

This weekend I am headed to my parents. The town they moved to has a huge Memorial Day celebration; street fair, carnival, civil war reinactments. Monday is kicked off with a "Run for Fun"- 4 miler with a very long HILL. (Liz- it's the road going up to MB's) Thinking about doing that. I'll try to run the long hill Saturday and see how it goes. My hip is giving me some greif this week, trying to work thru it, but I did opt out of trying a new Body Combat class at the gym the other night.

Any big weekend plans weekend?? Happy Memorial Day everyone! I'l try to be better about checking in....

Hello Partners!

I've been my goal weight and maintaining it for 2 months now! Whoohoo! I still need to get good shoes. I have been putting myself last again and that's why I haven't gone around to it. I got inspired reading all your advice and will go get the shoes before June!

DH has been officially diagnosed with Diabetes Type 2 about 4 weeks ago. I've been really down about it. It's like you face mortality in your face. He had his birthday yesterday and some friends of his wanted to take him out. Strangely, he said no. I'm pretty sure he is not happy about aging right now.

I changed the way I cooked (since I do most of the cooking) and he changed the way he eats and thinks about food. In about 6 weeks he lost 12 pounds! emoticon He was in an overweight BMI range and now he is in the healthy BMI range. His blood glucose level is on average lower 20 points toward normal, but still high. It is going in the right direction. We occasionally work out together, but he does like jogging and I need to get new shoes!!!

I was stressed and ate a little off when the diagnosis was new. I started doing emotional eating for a while and then curbed it! Yeah! The fact that I still the weight I was two months ago is a testimony that I can live this way. I might set another goal for 5 more pounds, but I think I'm ok for now. If I lose weight, it happens....but I am still focusing on the maintaining game which is challenging when life throws its curve-balls.

Back to the grind. 2 class through the end of June and then vacay in mid July. DH and I are going to Ireland and Wales - first time taking an escorted tour. We're spending 2 extra days in Dublin YAY!!!
Now that I have my mornings back, I've kicked up the cardio/ST classes and need to cut back on the junk and misc poor choices (like eating 5 large biscotti yesterday - so good yet so baaaaaad).

My update is that I am actually not doing too badly. I know, right?? I am not tracking calories but am working pretty hard. My diet is decent with only a few (M&M) exceptions, I have cut way back on the adult bevvies, and getting lots of fruit. I think if I set a goal of eating one salad a day I will have no trouble getting in my veggies too. Workouts are going well, haven't exactly been daily but at least several times a week.

Karen, I am so excited for you!

Suze, have a cocktail for me on your trip to NYC! And something with bleu cheese on it!!! Can't wait NOT to have eating restrictions lol. Hooray for the end of the semester! I've never been more happy to finish up a semester too--now the whole summer off with my little ones.

Hopefully not much longer to be pg here--38.5 weeks and the zzzzzz's are setting in today. Most of the week has been good tho and I've been getting a TON done around the house, so I'm sure it's just catching up with me. Doctor's appointment tomorrow...maybe they'll want to induce me next week??? I'm "old" at 36 after all :)

Five weeks to bathing suit season! Eek! I am on a streak now. Getting in the physical activity instead makes me feel energetic and reduces the emotional slump I can get in when DH travels so much. Strength training and my beloved treadmill, but keeping away from the scale. Feeling focused!

Suze, I'm having sore knee too--different issue tho! 40 extra lbs!!! Think I'm going to do some hardcore nesting this weekend :D

I just finished up my last full week of work, so I'm on "soft" maternity leave! Hooray! I've still got a handful of make-up lessons, 1 class, and 1 recital if I make it that far. Doctor's appt today to see how baby girl is doing...hopefully head DOWN now.

My knee's been bothering me, so I've cut back on running and stepped up spinning, biking, and ST. The scale is still not my friend, but I've been weighing myself everyday and facing higher weight (128ish) with increased determination/motivation to behave. I'm visiting DD25 in NYC early May so that will be my additional motivation to get back under 125 (LOL - so I can eat my way thru the City for a week).

Hi Ladies, I put the last of my company on the plane today. This ends the month long revolving door at my house. I had a great time with everyone coming to visit. My sister and I squeezed the most out of every day we had together. We ran 3 times, hiked twice, hit the pool, went shopping, day tripped to Sedona for a pink jeep tour, had friends over for dinner, and ate a lot. It was so great to see how well the cousins all got along. They've always been close but I was worried that they might be getting to old to enjoy each other (17, 15, 13, 12 and 9) but happily I was wrong.

Now that the house is empty I plan getting caught up on sleep and cleaning. I'm going to work up the courage to face the scale on Monday. I need a couple of days to recover before I hit the gym hard and lock up the pantry and fridge.

Khadija, sounds like you have a good plan for your upcoming visit. I agree with the others, you are overdue for a new pair of shoes. The rule of thumb is 500 miles per pair of shoes. Also, get fitted at a shoe store. A good pair will cost you around $100 but it is so worth it (especially if you need extra stability.)

I hope everyone else is doing well and had a good Easter. I promise I'll be checking in more now that I can get back on a routine.

Khadija - I would say you need new shoes. That's what happens to me when I let my shoes get too old - knee/ leg pain/aches. If there is a good running store around, let them properly fit you. The shoes will cost a little more, but the folks are trained to fit shoes for runners. They will analyze your gait and stride and make sure you have the perfect shoe for you. I currently run in a mid-stability Asics, but I am also a fan of Mizuno. Just need to find what's best for you. But four years is a VERY long time to wear a pair of shoes.

Khadija: What a great strategy for staying calm under pressure (to eat). I especially love the mantra about praising the cook's skills while eating slowly - you'll be full by the time your plate is empty. Find a shoe with lots of padding--one that feels springy/bouncy when you walk. That'll be best for your knees.

We have been having the most amazing weather in SFL - sunny, but not humid. A friend and I walked to an orchid festival this morning (6 miles). Some of the specimens were gorgeous!!!! It's definitely springtime here!

We are going to an outdoor concert tonight. One of my students is the lead singer in the band that opens for Christopher Cross and Jefferson Starship (LOL - am I dating myself?!?!?).
