You do have to leave the app open to get alerted. When you open the app there is a pokeball in the center. Click on the pokeball and it opens an index page. On the top right is a gear marked setting. Click that gear and it opens a menu. the third option down is vibrate. I also recommend that you click on the battery saver option too because it uses a lot of battery power to leave the app on.

You might also need to go into your phone setting and increase the vibration setting. Mine was very low when I checked it.

Hope that makes sense!

Olivia how do you set it to alert you to a Pokemon? I was telling my husband about that but I didn't know how to do it.

For the past two days my husband has gone waking with me because there are pokestops (stores where you get free items) along my route. Our son Ioves the game so we are playing as a family. We walk more and get more time together. And it has helped my son open up more with kids at the park and try to communicate with them so in my book it's an awesome game!

It's done what all my nagging couldn't do!

My 28-year-old son sits all day and plays video games while my granddaughter is at school. He is a stay-at-home dad. This game has gotten him off his butt (which my daughter-in-law and l have been trying to do for a long, long time) and out and about. He doesn't even realize how much he is walking (l am encouraging him to put a pedometer on his phone) and says it feels good to be moving. He feels better about himself and he is sharing a piece of his childhood with his daughter.
Just for this, l think the game is great!!!!

It's not about the storm
It's about learning to dance in the rain.

My husband has it and loves it! I did not know you could set it to buzz to alert you. I will have to tell him. It is a good way yo get out and move.

I have it for my son and we go to the stores at the parks and things like that. I have it set to buzz to alert me to a Pokemon so I don't have to stare at it. He's only mildly interested in it, but some of the more 'hardcore' kids at the park never look up from the phone.

I downloaded and played one day. I thought about taking my iphone and playing when walking but I decided to watch where I was going and concentrate on strength building. emoticon
