I'm still loving my Green Smoothies and eating mostly raw. The sprouts are all done and I'm learning new ways to use them. Adding them to my smoothies is one way.

Hugs,
Charlie

You are so right ROSALIEESTHER! Welcome to the team.

I'm trying something NEW. On Sat. 2/25 I start sprouting 3 different seeds. Alfalfa, Quinoa, and Garbanzo Beans.

This is day 4 and the Quinoa sprouts were ready to eat the day after I started them. I have used them in my stir fry, in my salad, and in my oat meal. The Alfalfa is ready today.

I wanted to do this to add my nutrition and learn something new.

Raw totally Rules! It's such a no brainer. Like Michael Pollan says,"If it comes from a plant, eat it. If it was made in a plant, don't."

Oh yeah Charlie. I, too, feel like I am learning every day but it sure has made a huge difference. I don't blame you about the meal plan, I was willing to spend the $5.00 for one just to see and that was all I really needed.

Nice thing was that the HH asked to interview me for the blog. I was pretty excited about doing that too. I am sure that you will find enough recipes there to make a great variety to your meals.

Have a great green day.
Alicia

Boy, this learning how to cook all over again is time consuming but, well worth it. I can tell the difference in my health already.

Alicia, that Macn'Cheese' is something I will try for Dubby. He loves that stuff and I really want to try her (Happy H.) cheesey sauce. I'm glad you told me that her meal plan is too much food for you. I haven't even looked at it (don't want to spend any money on it) but, I'm quite sure it would be to much food for me too. I have a hard time getting up to 1200 calories a day.

Hugs,
Charlie

Good for you Charlie -

I have both her cookbooks and her recipe for Macn'Cheese' although I use regular noodles (vegan) than rice ones. I don't like the consistancy of those. I just make the usual Macaroni noodles and make her cheesey sauce and boy is it amazingly good.

I actually found the meal plan too much food for me. I don't eat half that but I have some great new recipes and lots of veggies, so I am doing good.

Hugs
Alicia

Alicia I pulled up the Happy Herbivore's recipes and printed some off. They sound really good. Thank you so much.

I say what ever works best for you to go for it. I have found that I'm not doing as many Green Smoothies as I was. I'm finding ways to eat raw and cook things my Dubby and I both can eat. Even though he is on blood thinners we are adding more greens to his diet slowly and the Dr. has to adjust his blood thinner.

I am getting groceries based on the Happy Herbivore's meal plan. She has some really great suggestions. I tried the green smoothie route but it isn't for me really. I prefer to eat my greens more than drink them and am adding much more now. I found that when I had smoothies I tended to head to the kitchen to look for more to eat even though I was full. I need to chew.

So, I did try but I am very happy just sticking to vegan and callanetics. emoticon

Sounds very yummy. I haven't been consistent in my green smoothies but I have been vegan since August 2011 and am no longer on high blood pressure meds and I have lost 28 pounds so far. I have been doing very well on vegan but I know I can do better and so I will be getting more smoothies in starting in February.

You are doing great Charlie, hope I can add to your recipes here soon.

I have just been drinking Green Smoothies for about 2 weeks everyday and I haven't had any meat or dairy.

The things I have noticed so far are.

1) I have become calmer and thinking clearer.
2) My skin is not a yellowish color anymore.
3) I have more energy and want to do more.
4) I crave more water & fresh fruits.
NOTE: I never liked to eat fruit before.

My Green Smoothie for today:

Water, 2 cups (filtered)
Spinach, 1 hand full
Parsley, 1 hand full
Swiss Chard, 1 big leaf
Banana,1/2 large
Strawberries, 5 frozen
Peaches, 5 frozen
Pineapple, 1 slice fresh
Flax Oil, 2 tsp.

That made enough for 2 of my G. Smoothies today and I find that if I make them before I go to bed, it is sweeter in the morning. That makes it easier to get started off on the right foot for me too.

Those sound so nummy! I am a chocoholic here, sometimes nothing else will do. I try to follow Atkins, more or less, so here is my idea of a chocolate snack. I full square of unsweetened chocolate, 1 tblsp of the non caloric sweetner of your choice, and strawberries.... melt the chocolate in the microwave, stir in the sweet stuff and then dip your strawberries... oh so yum. I dont know if the shell would get hard or not, I just eat it like this.. cant wait on that step. Last time I made it I added a splash of heavy cream, gave it a creamier texture. Up to the individual.. I have also mixed this in with about 4 oz of creme cheese.. omg.. to die for. The nice thing about these snacks are they fill you up and are good for you! Enjoy!

Make every day special, enjoy life, choose to be positive!

You can put anything you love in a Green Smoothie as long as you have some Greens in it. Any Greens!!! I've had this for breakfast the past 3 days and one for lunch today with one exception. I was out of bananas so I used an apple instead. The aloe vera is optional. I just know how good they are for you and happen to have a lot of it.

1 cup of filtered water
3 ounces (about 2 cups) of baby spinach
1 large banana
4 large strawberries
10 green grapes
1 " aloe vera (pealed & rinsed)

I also added a little sweetener too. I'm just getting started on Green Smoothies too! Very tasty to me.

I know a Lady Sparker who lost 20 lbs so far in 6 weeks on a raw organic vegan eating program! I want to pass the word to all I know. If this will help just one person to break a stall in their weight and get healthier, it's worth it to me to tell all I know. I'm going Green starting January 1, 2012.

Many "in-the-know" green smoothie people state that 30 days in a row of green smoothie drinking would convert even the staunchest of non-believers. I find this to be true.

As of January 2012 I invite all team mates to join a 30 day challenge.

The rules are simple:
1)Drink a green smoothie each and every day. 32 ozs is the recommended amount.
2)At the end of each day come here and post that you did indeed have your daily green smoothie and share with us your ingredients.

Note: In the following threads I will be adding GREEN SMOOTHIE RECIPES!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
