Personally, I have found the movements very similar to some ballet moves and also pilates. They really work on the inner muscles. At first, they are challenging but within a short period of time, one's muscles really develop quickly and become easier. Great workout!

There are some movements similar to yoga but closer to dance workout. These exercises are simple tiny isolated movements that are safe a suitable for most everyone regardless of age. Where yoga you may take a very long time to learn basic movements and are advised to always use a qualified instructor to do so, Callanetics can be learned from book or video in the privacy of your own home or at a studio.
