Glad the storm missed you. We have just gone through a crazy hot summer. Cant wait for the cooler weather to set in. We dont get snow where I live, so even colder temps are very manageable and I dont feel like Im dying from overheating. I can feel autumn in the evening air and Im ready. I could live with spring or autumn all year round, add a lot of mist and Im a happy bunny.

I will NOT run emotionally from compliments and hide in fat layers for protection.

We had been having some warmer temps and sunny days for the past week, those days are gone for a while. Expecting 4-6 inches of snow for our area. I will believe it when I see it. They forecasted that last time and we didn't get any snow. The storm totally missed us.

You all have a great day!

Absolutely gorgeous day today...we went in service (rain predicted for tomorrow) and got a big chunk of one territory completed with the invitations. I love that I also got nearly 7000 steps done!

Pink...you are setting good goals for yourself. I wish you success. If you can't meet them totally at first, don't get discouraged..just try to add a little more and a little more as you can manage it. You will get there.

Hope everyone is having a good Monday, moving and making good choices! emoticon

Good day all. So, I joined this a few challenges today. One of them was to kick it up a notch . Well, I decided that I was going to walk to the market near my job. I used to walk there all the time. Of course, got busy and the routine became a distant memory. So I learned a few things

1) I'm still babying my knees
2) Although, my dancing and WATP videos are great, they are no substitute for real walking.
3) I really should up my step count and stop being afraid to fail. (Weekends are hard for me)
4) I feel better after walking. I walk all the time, but not necessary for exercise. But when doing that and under time restraints. it's more therapeutic

So I will be changing my step count to 10,000 for now. I will also be trying to get 2,000 exercise minutes in next month. That's roughly 65 minutes per day. Every day next month.
This will force me to walk, and continue to do my cardio along with the dreaded strength training. I can't really explain why it takes a herd of cattle to get me to do that every week.

But alas, I have my month cut out for me.

I love the memorial invitation time. We get to speak to sooo many people, briefly, but they have a more respectful attitude when we talk about Jesus death. Our town has grown so much, that we have to meet in a town hall to get us all done. We have 4 congregations sharing a hall now, so we have to spread out to get the memorial done in a reasonable time.

I will NOT run emotionally from compliments and hide in fat layers for protection.

Yes! We had such a successful day yesterday! People in our area like the quick 15-30 second introduction, take the invitation and go about their merry way. It is so beautiful to see Jehovah's spirit in motion!

So true Asta, you never know what may spark someone to finally dedicate their life to Jehovah. We must never give up hope. I pray for my son everyday. He knows it's the truth, but just doesn't want to change his lifestyle. Maybe someday.

In the meantime, we have a lot of work to do out in the ministry. There is always a buzz around the invitation campaign. So exciting!

Saturday Greetings everyone!!

We have a beautiful day to start our Memorial invitation campaign. We enjoyed a beautiful service morning. I got to show the video once at one of Hubby's calls! DH was surprised when I pulled it out. Yea! We really like this guy..have been calling on him a long time, but he just is determined to have his odd ideas. Loves talking with DH, though, and he is willing to listen. Just can't seem to accept it. Some folks just can't let go of their own ideas...or accept the changes in thinking they have to make. My daughter started calling on someone when she was 12. It took 17 years for Mary to finally get baptised! Then she regular pioneered until her health (knees and back) simply made her go off the list..for now anyway. Don't give up!!

Heading out to get my walking done in the sunshine. HUGS to you all!

Hi all. For me Saturday is almost over, in a way. I have my 5 yr old grandson for the night as his daddy is doing a gig so....lots of 5 yr old stuff to do. he is growing like a weed. I took him to Spur for some dinner and play time and ran into a child in his class. Im always amazed at the size difference between Axel at 5 and the rest of the kids in his class. All class and activity photo's show him to be a head taller than the rest. Hopefully it wont make him a target as he gets older. His daddy did all his growing from 7-11. By 11, I had to intervene when teenage girls were trying to flirt with him. He didnt look 11 at all.

Lovely message in the watchtower study. Can apply to not only sickness, but any troubles we may have to deal with in this old system....Jehovah will sustain us through them all. Very comforting thought.

Those migraines are nasty!! My older sister gets those and she can't move a muscle for the pain it would cause. Hope it passes quickly.

Ahhh, my week is over, I'm home with a hot cup of tea, nursing a migraine. I had a hard time trying to focus at work, nauseous too, but I made it. All in all though, I had an amazing week. I love my new position at work. I'm very fortunate to have gotten it, I was up against some fierce competition in the interview process and I really had to put on my A-game, but Jehovah's favor dribbled on me :-)

With that said, I'm just stopping by to say hello to my Fast February FAM :-) Hugs!!

Reggie, DH has been for the massages with our daughter several times...he has been pleased with the relief she has provided. I think he is just being stubborn about going...though he may be fretting about how much this misery is costing him, too. I just don't know. Perhaps after she opens her new business next week...where there will be no commission to the salon...he will go. Chiro said today that she is consulting and may refer him to another chiro who has equipment she doesn't have. From what I have heard, sciatic nerve issues can be really hard to resolve once they have been aggravated. Thanks for trying to think of solutions for us, though.

Oh Asta and Celest! That is a heartbreaker. I'm happy to hear that you aren't giving up on them. If only the would take the Truth seriously and have faith that what they are learning is real. I pray they come back around.

Asta, could it be that your husband doesn't like the idea of his daughters hands on portions of his body, although it would be in a totally professional setting? I know my dad, who has already passed away, would absolutely hear nothing of it! I may be able to give him a hug or pat his arm but that was the extent he would allow. Just an idea. I could be well off the mark.

Have a great evening! I've a few clients to go meet and might check in later tonight before beddie bye time.

I agree about the sizing issues in stores and catalogues....and it doesn't help that I don't know exactly what size I need. Long story about how I realized I wasn't buying correctly sized clothing. I was such a dunce. (Same with my recent oopsie with coloring my hair by accident by running a diffuser by my bed at night..with a small amt of hydrogen peroxide in it. Very gradually, my hair, already getting lighter as I age into grey/white, started getting blonder and blonder! ) Anyway, re: clothing, I am gradually finding items I can fit well and passing along all the clothing that is too big. Don't want to grow back into any of it.

Pinkeebee...hope your service day goes wonderfully well.

Sunny/Reggie (sorry, couldn't remember yours either..had to look and come back to edit!)... this trip through the sciatic pain issue has been miserable for my husband. His chiro keeps telling him to go to our daughter for therapeutic massage. Not sure why he keeps resisting. Daughter launches her own business March 1st. That is exciting. Maybe he will go then.

Celeste', isn't there always something!!! Hope she can stand firm. My study who called in the night for a ride to her grandmothers house..an hr 1/2 drive away...went back to her boyfriend, kicked him out and then he is back. Now I can't reach her. Only Jehovah knows what is really going on. Being in the Truth is such a huge protection.

For those who don't know, my first name is ASTA. emoticon

Had such a "frustrating" day today. My one studies fiance has been found selling drugs and she has now kicked him out the house because she has a 3 month old baby and doesnt want this life for her son. But it got worse, the guy stole her car. She reported it to the police and they found her car in the next town half an hour away. They pulled him over and let her know where she could get her car. She asked my son to please drive the car back for her, she does not have her license yet. Now the fiance' is going around telling all that will listen that this cult of JW's has poisoned his fiance's mind against him and he doesnt care which forum he types his nonsense on. I know he isnt the first to make such accusations and he wont be the last...but its my first time that ive personally experienced it and ITS NOT NICE. I worry about Jehovahs name being blackened...and yet, Im powerless to stop him. emoticon

Good morning all...thanks for the kudos. Bookwerme... I find that those catalog sometimes have conflicting sizes, even within itself. So I can totally appreciate the size dilemma.

Long service day for me, so hope to stop by later today. Have a great Friday emoticon

Bookwerme (I'm sorry but I don't know your name and I apologize if you told me on a note or message and I can't remember it), glad your parts went great but sorry your husband is having sciatic issues. Bummer! That seems to be on the rise. A few of my clients have that issue, too. I'm a CMT on the side and the pain that issue causes at times is unbelievable.

Hip hip hooray, Bee!!! So wonderful. I love NSV milestones like that! Encourages us to keep pushing forward! Almost as exciting at getting a Bible study...almost. LOL

Well done PinkeeBee! I just packaged two dresses and a pr of shoes ..first order from a company. I love all three items, but decided if I am going to wear them comfortably, should get a size larger. Not because the dresses don't fit, but because they cling to my bulges just a bit more than I am comfortable with. Shoes...just need a wee bit more room for my big toe.

My weight loss journey has been so slow that when I realized last year that I had changed clothing sizes, I have had a really difficult time figuring out WHAT size I wear and in what items? I rarely shop IN the stores, so this is a guess work project when I order from catalogues or online.

Good morning all. I woke up late this morning, and had to grab clothes to get dressed while I was running to the shower. I was looking for a tank top to use with a blouse that I normally wasn't able to button up. Guess what, no tank top today emoticon . Shirt buttoned all the way up, No gaping. Yay for me. emoticon

People are so funny....some you cant get medication into them, or get them to Drs, while others are hypochondriacs. Guess it takes all kinds to fill this globe. I saw the article about your daughters nomination for best therapist or something like that....very impressive.
Meeting for me tonight and I feel sooooo tired, but staying home is not an option. In any case, the moment we get to the hall we always feel better, and definitely revived by the end of the meeting, so no need to crawl into bed for an extra hour...tempting as it sounds. emoticon

Both daughters are massage therapists with excellent reputations. One is in CO. the other is about to launch her own business here. Problem is not whether he would get some relief, it is getting him to GO. I keep suggesting it (and of course, there is the problem of getting an appointment!) Thanks for the suggestion, of course. I appreciate your caring.

I went to a couple chiros for my sciatic a couple times, did not help at all. They hurt me so bad. I would swear one of them bruised me on the inside with that pounding machine they used. My massage therapist explained to me that a small muscle, I forget what it's called, when it's tight it pushes on a nerve that causes the pain. Please give one a try. I felt instant relief, and at first I was going twice a week. I now have a regular appt about every three to four weeks for a normal massage, and she is always sure to work on my hip.

Things went well with the part/demo. DH is still up and down with the sciatic nerve troubles. He was doing pretty well yesterday, but at 1:30 this morning, his leg became very painful. He took off his C-pap and exploded with snoring at 2 am...I had to move to the couch downstairs. LOL We just can't win. We are trying to decide whether to stick with this Dr. or find a different chiro. Daughter in CO was having issues and chiro was making no headway...so she went to a physical therapist (met through some networking group)...and that was very successful.

Hope everyone has a good day. Get moving and make good choices! emoticon

DH and I did not sleep well last night. For him, that is not unusual. For me, I never know what to expect. Last night I set off some foot/ankle cramps when I was turning over. At some point, had a critter land on me and I swiped it away only to learn it was a stink bug. I had to get up once for the bathroom...and so it went. At four am, I couldn't believe how bright our room was...full moonlight! It had been raining when we went to bed and rain is predicted for today and tonight. I decided to get up at five and started walking...had 9000 steps done by 7 am It was 59 degrees at 5 am...gradually the temp began sliding down and the wind began picking up. I am glad I got the walking out of the way so early. fitbit says I slept better than I think I really did. Hope to get all my study done for tonight's mtg, get in a nap and be bright an perky for mtg tonight. DH has the part about presenting the Memorial invitations...and I have the demo.

Hope everyone is having a good day..and making good choices! emoticon

So glad you found the team Sun66Shine, welcome. Looking forward to getting to know you.

It took me a while to use my ipad at the meeting, but now I love it. I only use it for the meetings though. I still prefer to read from an actual magazine or book. Although, I use JW.org a lot!

Hello Sun66Shine! Welcome! If you would like, please feel free to friend me, also on Fitbit (my Fitbit ID is on my Spark page). This is the most active of the 2 groups I know of, since we're all busy working and out in ministry. I think you'll really enjoy this group. Have a great week!

Hello! I've been on spark looking and looking for other witnesses but it never occurred to me to look under JW. Should have known. LOL I happened to come across someones sparkpage and checked out the teams they had and there ya'll were. How wonderful!!

Today was our CO's last day of his visit. It was his first with our congregation, but as is usual, he and his wife endeared themselves to us. We always hate to see such spiritually minded leaders leave. But there are others who need their training and instructions.

Looking forward to "fitting in". This site has so many wonderful people and sites, but it's nothing like the fellowship with true spiritual friends who fight valiantly to serve Jehovah, and his son Jesus in this dried up, wicked system.

How wonderful you are here!!!!!

Agape.

Our daughters are both top notch, well trained massage therapists. When DH was having back issues (before the sciatica stuff) I got him to go for massage several times and it DID help immensely. Of course, he has chosen to be stubborn right now and won't go. Eldest daughter is about to launch her own massage therapy business. She worked in a salon for her first 2 yrs. Was voted Favorite massage therapist (at 18 months of working!) in an annual area Best Choice competition. She was nominated and to our delight..and her astonishment...she won.

Other daughter moved to Colorado a year ago. She and her family are thriving out there..and love the area. She has a number of different kinds of therapies she offers along with or instead of massage. She also has her own business, but works out of her home.

Do I sound much like a proud Mama??? emoticon

Flawsome..I am with you on liking the print version of things. I read a lot and printed page is more comfortable. Guess we have to keep up with the times though. An old guy (who talks constantly) in the Dr. office asked me if I was a teacher? Asked him why he asked and he said because I am always reading. Noone reads anymore was his observation. emoticon

Sciatic nerve: I was having this problem pretty bad for awhile and someone suggested to me to go see a Massage Therapist. I inquired around and found one who was medically trained and didn't do anything weird. It took some time, but it did help, and it felt really good to have tension relief.

Magazines: I do appreciate the electronic provisions, however, I find myself getting lost in that once I'm done reading something, I rarely go back to it. I get more out of something when I have it in my hand, albeit a magazine and most especially the Bible. But I can't carry those with me all the time, and I'd much rather have it with me electronically and be able to read them in my spare moments than to have to try to catch up later. But to me, I love having the printed publications in my hands.

In situations like that, I always hope that their conscience sears them later. In that way, it would show Jehovah that they have room in their heart that is open for His Holy Spirit. You did the right thing, your response was appropriate and warranted.

Very scary indeed. I am so glad you sisters got out safely. I have not encountered any irate person in the ministry yet. Hopefully I will be able to handle it as well as you did.

Yow. That IS scary stuff. My husband had a similar experience in that he encountered an irate man in the ministry...not locked in with him though. But DH let the guy rant at him and just stood there. Finally he wound down and said that DH was the first person who had let HIM say his piece...and then he was ready to listen..at least somewhat. Celeste', I am so glad you were not alone.

In St. Croix (it never happened to me, but I heeded the warning) there were some folks who would close their driveway gates to prevent your car from leaving their property. To what end, I don't know. I was very cautious about driving into such properties.

Had a scary experience in the ministry. My sister and I were working in the small holding area and its all gated properties. We buzzed a box, got let in and discovered a very very aggressive man who argued vehemently against our beliefs. We tried to excuse ourselves, but he refused to open the gate to let us out, till we listened to what he had to say. he was getting so heated and kept looming over us. In the end, we had to tell him that we WILL call the police if he didnt open the gate immediately....he did so with these parting words "run away like the cowards you really are!" Shoo.....he really acted demonized.

I will NOT run emotionally from compliments and hide in fat layers for protection.

12,000 steps is awesome Asta. I have always been curious how many steps I have when I go for my walk. One of these days I will have to spring for a Fitbit.

Have a great day everyone!

The sciatic nerve issues are an up/down thing for DH. Some days feeling pretty good, others def. hurting. On top of that, he wants to be doing things..some of which he is not careful enough about..like how much wood he loads in the wheelbarrow to bring to the house. I hope this will eventually get resolved.

Grey skies today..temp has gone up 2 degrees and is right at freezing now. It FEELS cold today. I got out early and started my 12000 steps...am up over 7000 now. Making soup for our main meal..got it started and then decided to look for recipe...never knew there could be so many versions of broccoli cheese soup! Oh well, everything going in is good stuff, so hopefully it will TASTE good, too.

Have been going through some magazines that have been sitting here too long..mainly because there was something in each one that I wanted to save, remember, pass on...etc. Only now I can't remember what! Was about to dump the April 2015 Good Housekeeping but just ran across the A to Z Happiness Boosters to try today...so think I will be sharing some of those before the mag. is passed on.

Hope everyone is making good choices today...having a good day...and is reaching out to someone else to be of encouragement today. emoticon

I never did get my nap. I was up for 20 hours, I finally crashed at 10:30. Hope that doesn't happen any time soon or ever for that matter...lol.

Take care everyone!

COLD wind here, today, otherwise beautiful. Dh is still struggling with his sciatic nerve, not sleeping well and while not sick, not feeling well. Ugh. He needs a dose of warm beach in the tropics.

Greetings to everyone. I hope we are all making good choices today. I am about to head out to walk some more. Can't do it all in one stretch when it is windy/cold. emoticon

It is a beautiful sunny day today, but bitter cold. Service was cancelled due to the frigid temperatures! Have a family gathering today, but I have been up since 2 am so I don't know if I will be able to make it. A nap is in my future once Wyatte is picked up.

You all have a great weekend!

Winter is not over yet, Ginna. You may still get more snow. We are supposed to get two days of rain, ice, snow mix early next week. We also will be getting what for us is deep cold. Very glad I got my walking done outside today. emoticon

The winter storm missed us. It was about 10 miles north and 20 miles south. They all got 14 inches. I was bummed, my husband was happy though.

I love the snow, but not the ice we often get with it. Here, snow lasts a day or two and is gone, unlike where I grew up in New England...by the time the snow was gone, we were so tired of it. I don't mind cold really either (though I confess, I would love to be a snow bird and live in the Virgin Islands for the winter months!), but lately, we seem to get wind with the cold...and the wind makes it so bitter and uncomfortable. So, Ginna, enjoy your cold and snow while you have it. I will take your Stay warm, stay safe wishes and wrap myself in them. Spring is coming. I can hardly wait till we have FLOWERS again.

We have had such a mild winter this year, but that is suppose to change. The forecast is calling for 6-12 inches of snow and very cold temperatures. I love winter so I can't wait. I hope we get lots of snow.

If some of you are getting snow and cold and don't enjoy it, stay safe and warm. Remember it is one day closer to spring!

The new songs are beautiful! I wonder how many more we will get! Some get stuck in my mind and I can't wait to use them at the hall.

Be careful on the ice everyone!

Thanks for your nice comment, Asta!

We've had a few new-to-us members join the team. Got a notice about
DAPRDON16 this morning. Carmen4580 and Gettingslim69 have recently joined us also. I have tried to visit the Sparkpages of each new one, but some are not yet set up and the others are set to private. It didn't occur to me to say something here...but we do want to WELCOME you to our team and hope you will introduce yourself and let us get acquainted with you. We also have some members who are back with us...not posting but who ARE taking advantage of SP. Welcome back to you folks too. SO glad to see you and wishing you success.

In case you didn't know...the newest songs are UP on JW.ORG. go to main page, look for "what's new" on the righthand side of the main page, click that and you have all the info right there. I printed all five for myself, husband and two other sisters (neither have printers). While they were printed, I listened to the song's music and followed along with the printed lyrics. They are all beautiful. Remember that 147 and 149 will be used at the Memorial..and according to the part on tv.jw.org, we will be practicing one or the other of those every midweek mtg until the Memorial on March 23rd.

I took two spills on the ice the last weekend in January. The second fall did some wrenching and knocked my one knee pretty hard. It takes time to get over the sore muscles. Hope your almost fall didn't do serious damage. Chiro said I got a few things really out of whack. It is wayyy too easy to get really hurt. Take care, Andee.

February sort snuck up on me too... still trying to catch up to everything.
At least I'm not alone. :)

Currently digging out from Winter Storm Kayla and nursing myself from one of those "almost" falls over icy snow while cleaning off my van of 8-10" just so I can move it out to allow for the plow to clear the parking lot...ugh

Happy this will be a slightly shorter month (even if it is longer than more Februarys) ;-)

Already the 2nd...totally forgot about starting a new thread..and no one else started it either. January flew by and February seems set to do the same! We all stay so busy on so many levels. With Memorial season fast approaching, we will really be busy!

So, as we race through each day this month...do pay attention to your activity levels and dietary choices. We want to be moving towards our goals. Welcome to February!! emoticon
