this is exactly why i have yet to try this. i am afraid of a negative result and feel like ive wasted another week. i will see how this weeks weigh in goes. ugh so frustrating. if only getting skinny could be as easy as getting fat :)

Thank you Amy...Not sure if I should continue the cycling or just go back to the plain program now. Yes, the smaller sizes help, but it would be so nice to see it reflected on the scale too.

Margie congratulations on your 1" loss to your waist. That is great. While it is disappointing not to have shown a loss on the scale you still have evidence that what you are doing is working. Keep it up and the scale will catch up.

No loss, no gain this week...I printed out the quote from The Spark about the scale not being my friend and it is really helping me get through my disappointment.
I know my clothes are getting looser and I lost 1" in my waist...but the scale is not showing it!

Great post! I have been thinking about not using any weekly points, and only using activity points on the day they're earned so I'll be encouraged to exercise more every day. But maybe I'll use my weekly points for 0 point items so I don't go overboard on them. If that doesn't work, I'll try the cycling idea and post my results here.

My advice would be if you are doing the points cycling to focus more on whole foods. Initially I was adding "just anything". I then started focusing on more protein ie cottage cheese, tuna, etc. Too many "empty" carbs just makes me more hungry. I think it is working though. I won't be weighing in till later in the week so I will let you know how I do.

Kristin...I feel for you I really do...Something that helped me just yesterday was reading in The Spark...and let me quote it for you and for me....

"The scale is not your friend...you may be working hard and the numbers don't bulge. Here is where the tipping-point theory comes into play again. Many people are locked in a desperate destructive relationship with their scales; if the numbers don't go down, they throw in the towel. This is in spite of the fact that their clothes are fitting better, they're exercising longer and they feel substantially more fit and alive. They don't realize that despite what the scale shows, there is real magic occurring inside their bodies that simply takes a while to show up in the numbers".

I think I will copy this and post it for the future when I need it! I hope it is some help to you too!

Hang in there! Margie

Margie-

Thanks for the pick me up. i really needed it. i am pretty much soaking in my own sorrows lol. I am so focused on this damn number i think that is what i am so hung up on. I have to start focusing on the changes my body is making and notice how i am toning up. its just so frustrating to see a gain when you tried so hard. I have 55 days until my cruise and i am hoping that if i continue working out 5 days a week i will see a significant change. (otherwise i am gonna jump overboard, lol)

i really want to start this points cycling but i am so nervous to eat so many points. i dont know what to do?! i am afraid that if i see another gain this week trying the cycling im gonna lose motivation. this whole thing is just so frustrating. maybe i will give it another week before i start cycling. ugh, im so confused!!

Kristin...oh no, I feel for you and let me say...I know how you feel. I really do...I found that the more I exercise, the more I don't lose the weight I think I should. I do think the muscles accumulate water to heal from the exertion. There is a good chance you will lose it next week. I know you can get tired of waiting.
I went through a similar experience a few weeks ago and had even cancelled my monthly membership. After going back to my what I thought was my last meeting, I did lose the next 2 weeks.
Seems like your body is just fighting the number on the scale that you set for it. Does it really make that much difference if you arrive at the number you set. You are more than a number on the scale. It really would make your life so much easier and pleasanter than being frustrated and disappointed.
Think about it...just my thoughts. Try and have a good day & let me know how the cycling points goes for you!

This sounds like a great idea and I think I will try it next week after WI. I have been averaging about 1/2 pound a week and need a change.

I have pretty much been following the cycling for a week now and WI tomorrow. I will let you know how it goes for me. I don't usually use my weekly points and withh this plan I have been using at least some of them. I will know soon enough the outcome!

Edited to add...LOST one pound for this week. Think I will stick to the cycling for another week and see how it goes!

When I did the "old" plan I used this and it worked great. Then I got off plan and am now back on the new plan and cyclling again. I took my points x it by 7 and then added in my 49 weekly points. I have 2 low point days, and one really high point day and then medium point days. I count 1 point for anything 0 points because if I don't make myself accountable for them, I'll go overboard thinking they are "free". I'm heavier and my week looks like this. 55, 42, 48, 45, 65, 46, 42. 42 is my alloted points for the day. I weigh in on Monday so I do a lower point day on Saturday and a low point day on Sunday.

I am thinking of trying the points cycling also. I actually used to do something similar with the old program based on my activity. I was allowed 26 points per day. When I worked I would use the 26. On days that I was off I stayed at 22 per day. I did not factor in my exercise, I just used the bonus points if I wanted something extra. My weight seemed to come off easier. It didn't come off in huge amounts but more consistently week by week. I need to try something different I have been stuck here fro weeks.

I did a modified version of it and it worked for me. The way I did it (I did it before PP) - 18, 23, 18, 23 - making sure I had a low point day before my weigh in.

Also watch how many 0 point foods you are eating. I can't allow too many of those a day or it shows, even now.

I haven't tried it personally but have known people who have had success with it when trying to break a plateau. One of my friends took her daily points total and multiplied it by 7 and then added her weekly points to that number. The result was her maximum points for a week. She just subtracted what she ate every day from that number. She did try to have at least one high point day and one low point day. Good luck with it!

Kristin...I am one of the people that replied to you earlier today about your frustration. I had never heard of the Wendie cycling and looked it up. I found a number of web-site and also this...
www.wendie-plan.com
I am having a similar experience to you and have decided to give this a try. It makes sense to me that it would work, although I would also like to hear from others who have actually tried it and found it to work. I will let you know how it works for me.
Best wishes! Margie

I posted earlier how I have been very frustrated with weight watchers and my weight loss. I have been so strict and working out 4-5 days a week for about 25-40 minutes each day and stuck at a plateau of 125lbs. I have 3lbs to go to lifetime goal and 5 to my ideal weight.

Anyway..a couple people suggested the "wendie plan" or calorie cycling. this seems very interesting to me. i weigh in tomorrow (because of Easter, i usually weigh in on sunday) and want to try something new if i don't lose again this week.

So my question is...do any of you do this "Points Cycling"? If so have you had success and how do you divide up the points with the new PointsPlus system? I noticed the Wendie Plan is in the old program.

Thanks in advance..

I dont know what i would do without this site :)
