Hi, I'm trying to eat as clean as possible... this week I was not as good for my preparation - as I take my own lunch to work and it's been grilled turkey with some wild rice medley and salad... which works well. But I didn't get the turkey this weekend so I've been struggling.

I found a can of Wolfgang Puck's chicken and noodle soup so brought that in with a whole wheat bread roll... When I calculated the calories and nutrition (the serving size is 250ml - the can is 398ml - yes, thank you Mr Puck, that's not the most helpful nutritional label!) the sodium is a whopping 1544mg per can!

I couldn't believe it! At least I will have a week before my next weigh in to drop that salt! Man on Man! Organic yes but hold the salt please!

Hi Everyone,
I'm on day 3 of eating clean (not counting breakfast on Tuesday) and right now I feel so good. I keep forgetting how alive good foods feel as opposed to how fake foods make me feel like crud.

Hi
well today I tried the same breakfast that she talks about in her book,
I cooked some quick oats (plane) topped with strawberrys and wheat germ
and one scrambled egg,
I thought this was way too much food but it did fill me out and I was not so hungry by 10 am in the morning which I had my snack which was a protien bar then lunch veggies and chicken and fruit.
I wsh dinner was a little more healthier but I am getting there hubby made meat loaf which I had with two small salt potatos no salt

but I got to tell you I have been eating clean and working it in to have all my meals be really clean I am feeling much better
and have lost 2 lbs which my weight loss has slowed so much down after loosing my first 90

Hi Sarah welcome to the team glad your here
well good news I was so worried about the fact that I was eating more that I was going to gain
well I lost two pounds this week, I have been eating two extra times per day so I start out with morning breakfast then mid morning snack of a yogurt or zone bar then lunch and then I am having that after noon 3:30 Snack , either fuit or almonds or sunflower seeds and then dinner I still am not getting in a snack after that cuz really I am full and I am really not too hungry and I have been going to bed early and not having that night light on in the hall so all these little chages are helping..
and I am really proud..

Thanks, stay positive everyone

New to the team and just wanting to say hi :)

I've been following the Eat-Clean Diet for some time now to maintain my weight, but have managed to have more slip-ups than I would like to over the course of this summer and looking for newfound motivation to get back on track. . emoticon

I HIGHLY recommend the "Tuna Salad Sandwich" out of the Meal Plans of the July Clean Eating Magazine!

I'm not a mayo person, so I always do tuna with mustard.

I was a little sceptical of this idea, but it is really good:

Tuna (I use a 2.6 oz pouch)
Greek yogurt (I use 2 Tbs)
chopped almonds (I use 2 Tbs sliced)
1 Tbs unsweetened coconut

The yogurt and almonds are smaller amounts than they recommend in the recipe (1/2 cup and 1/4 cup).

I've had this on an Ezekial tortilla and on 2 slices of Ezekial bread. YUM! and very filling!!!

Hey team just checking in, I have been following the eat clean diet for two weeks now, I have lost 2 more lbs, because of the small changes I made besides me eating healthy before I started reading the book, I think I have learned alot in the past two weeks what I am doing is now eating more mini meals and I have to admit
I really hope this is going to help me loose more, I dont feel as shakey any more come 5pm and I know that is because my blood sugar is level and I dont tend to over eat at dinner or any meal matter of fact at lunch I could not finish it I stopped andput the salad down and called it quits I never ever done that before
well I am willing to do what ever it takes and I am feeling good

Have a good day all

Anita

Thanks March! Great tips. I'm going to try that with the veggies. My kids LOVE fruit, especially summer fruit, so there isn't really a problem in that department, its more snacks I have a problem with. And it's good to know I'm not alone.

Ava, you sound like a great mother. Sometimes my kids respond when I put the ball in their court, like an adventure we're on together. (What can we make with *carrots tonight, can *carrots go in a dessert, what would make Dad flipout over *carrots, etc).
Can bananas be baked? Do sugar snaps taste better cooked or raw? A no-silverware fingerfest with vegie-rich spagetti sauce over whole wheat noodles. (followed by sprinkler time, of course!).

Hi all, have been eating clean (mostly) for the last year or so. It's been a gradual process, but really feel like I'm in a good place. As for my family (have 2 kids 6 and 8), it's really hard to get them to eat clean. My husband buys them sugary cereals and that's a big battle in my house. I've tried making them cleaner versions of breads and snacks, but they are soooo picky! Any suggestions? My big issue is that I don't want them to feel deprived and that I'm taking something away from them. Just want to steer them in the right direction. Otherwise they are active and healthy kids.

Kathy congrats on a coupe of good days under your belt I really beleve that the more you wrok at this the easier it will get, I for one have been doing my own thing for over a year I have been able to loose over 80lbs, I guess you would say I am eating clean but there are areas that could be tweeked. today was my first full day of really following the plan that is in the book I was really rebelling about eating 6 meals I am a 3 meals with nothing inbtween gal, maybe be a morning snack and that is it. so toda I ate my breakfast, the mid morning snack, lunch and afternoon snack then dinner now they book says to have something in evening I m really having hard time with this one, not sure what to eat and really I dont want too. so I had a glass of skim milk..
we can do this that is for sure stay strong stay positive that is what this is all about

Hi all,

I joined this team some months ago, but have not been active and have not been eating clean either until the last few days. I reread the book and then got the one for family & kids too. Haven't finished that one yet. I am really excited to see what can happen with my weight if I commit 100% to this eating plan. So far, so good.

Last night I barbecued some steak and chicken breasts to have with either lunch or dinner. I always make my lunch the night before because I get lazy in the morning when I'm trying to get out the door. I've been taking a salad most days for a few weeks so the meat is to give me some new protein options to go with it.

I'm basically following cooler 2 since cooler 1 is for the last 10 pounds if I remember correctly.

Hi Cat welcome, I am also kind of new to the team, I just purchased the book last night dove right into it.. I am really going to study this, I have been on a weight loss journey for 2 years, I have lost over 80 lbs, I would like to loose about 50 more and it seems to be going sooooo slooowww.. I too was shocked when I read that eating right is a HUGE factor to a fit body, I thought you really had to be in the gym 4 to 6 hours a day, which I have not time, eating clean I know I can do.. I am so ready..

Have a great day everyone..
stay strong

Anita

Saying Hello!! I just joined this team after Sparking off and on for a few years. I have done some internet reading and talking with friends about clean eating, and am working towards more and more clean eating in my diet/lifestyle. I love to try new recipes and find new ways to use common ingredients. I am all about farmer's markets and locally grown/prepared produce and love most veggies and every fruit I can think of. My challenges are prep time (during the school year---I am a teacher) and preparing meals that my hubby and DD (age 7) will enjoy.
Looking forward to 'staying clean' with everyone here!!

For a quick lunch, I have salmon cakes. I make them ahead of time and freeze them. I can pop on out and microwave it, or take one out of the frig. early morning if I know I'm going to be busy, or take it frozen in the car and it will thaw out quickly in the summer.
See my recipe in my blog.

Salmon is very good for helping you loose weight too!

Raw vegies with ranch. Usually I'm so hungry at lunchtime, I'll eat anything. So it's a great time to get my raw vegies in. Quick to pack, too! Throw in a soy milk to keep the tummy happy longer.

Oh, wow, I keep reading the posts and they all say how great everyone's been doing! For me, worrying about caffeine or gum or oatmeal is a place I look forward to reach. Right now I have to focus on not eating Lay's or Doritos ever again, or cut down on the date cookies I drink my coffee with!
Bottom line is, I think you guys are doing really really good which is inspiring for me.

Anyone here eat overnight oats? If so, what kind of oats do you use and how long can they sit in the fridge? Mine turned out horribly mushy and I am looking for ideas - also let me know you add-ins if they are good too! ;)

Day 2- no sugar:

Plain yogurt tastes NASTY!!! I added some frozen rasberries thinking that would help. Nope!

Also, the brown rice I steamed last night was not cooked. Doh! I made it a couple of weeks ago and put too much water in the steamer but it still tasted good. This time I think I put too little water and it was undercooked. *sigh*

I CAN do this!

General question. Does it bother you when you see someone else select a less healthy plate of food?

I had to stop myself saying something yesterday. Our hostess had set out a wonderful arrangement of fresh foods. There were also some white bread and processed products as she was covering all tastes and ages. The lady ahead of me loaded her plate with all the things that were processed and I just looked at the colour contrast between mine with veggies and salad and her plate, which looked beige and white and totally unappealing to me.

You can't exactly nudge a stranger and say, 'Hey, you might want to try some green on that plate.' There could have been many reasons why she was eating why she was.

However, that's when it hit me how much I'm truly enjoying my food these days!

I am excited! I found clean and no added sugar yogurt yesterday at Henry's. Woo hoo. I start my self inflicted no sugar x2 weeks on Monday. I am looking forward to that. I have been able to find lots of food options.

I begin eating clean on the first of the month. Although with the no sugar challenge most of what I will be eating will be clean already.

Have a great weekend!

I am a recovering Diet Coke addict. I have "mostly" replaced that addiction w/an assortment of white, oolong and herbal teas. I still have periodic relapses, but for an extra incentive, I have discovered DC increases my cravings for junk food. Nothing goes better w/a high fat, high carb, high sodium meal than a sweet, fizzy can of chemicals. YUM!

I do feel better when I am off the soda. Drinking dilute tea all day keeps me much better hydrated. I also sleep better at night.

Hi everyone, I am new to this forum and have been trying to clean up mine and my husband's diet. I don't eat a lot of processed food, or fast food. But we enjoy going out to a restaurant about once a week. I am trying to quit sugar. I have been using stevia in tea and cereal, is that OK to use? If not, which sugar substitute is alright to use?

Hi All! I am new to this clean eating thing but the concept is amazing and it already feels like such a relief to think of this as a lifestyle, not a diet. I am one of those people that binges when they are on a diet and I just want to feel healthier and stick to something better for my body than the ups and downs of dieting.

My question is - have any of you been able to quit soda? I am a diet pepsi lover and am toying with the idea of trying to switch to green tea, but it will be super hard I think and I just want to see if anyone here has done the switch off the diet crap and how they feel??? Any advice would be appreciated and I hope to post here more often so hello! :)

I almost picked up Ezekiel bread last week! Good to hear it was pretty good. I have a dry slice of 100% whole grain bread maybe twice a week, so something that I have to take out of the freezer to toast is fine.

Here's a sweet, nutritious treat - toasted garbanzo beans (chickpeas, but "garbanzo" is so Muppet :) I spritz them with a teeny amount of PAM and then lightly toss in Truvia and toast at 400 degrees for about 10 mins. Watch them carefully so they don't burn! Chickpeas are very nutritious but they do add up quickly. The toasted, sweet snack can be stored in an air-tight container for up to a week. Grab a 1/4 c. to munch slowly or sprinkle over salads!

Tried Ezekiel bread today for the first time. I have been trying to pay attention to important nutritional facts as I learn about them so when I realized how much more calories and sodium was in even the best wheat bread I sought out Ezekiel. It was not that bad. I was pleasantly surprised.
Between this team and my trainer I am learning the right way to eat tio be healthy.

Been working on eating clean but ran a report on this weeks nutrition and had an eye opener on how much sodium I am eating!
Now, even though I was eating sorta clean I have trying to figure out how to lower my sodium intake!

General question...what is guar gum? I've been trying to stay away from packaged foods, but I just don't have time to make my own bread...curious what a couple of ingredients on the label are, since the bread is supposed to be healthier. Also, what is soy lecithin and what does it do? Thanks!

Love clean eating. Helped me cross over that line to really feeling good, both physically and mentally. I haven't given up caffeine. I like my coffee and I am Ok with this. I still have sweet cravings and do indulge in some sesame candies (those small rectangle ones) a few times a week. Had some dark chocolate last week, but, didn't really care for it. That's a first, not loving chocolate. The point is, we have to live life. Sometimes that means having something sweet or something that may not be the best choice. As long as the majority of our choices are clean we are headed in the right direction.

Hi! I'm new to this team, hoping that this will help me break through my plateau. I eat fairly well, but need caffeine once in a while...I have a cup of coffee, no sodas or anything like that. Any tips? Sometimes I get cravings for sweet stuff that oranges can't simple cover.

It revolutionised my life. I used to catch 4 - 6 colds, coughs a year each making me feel bad for 3 weeks That's about 18 weeks feeling bad a year at least. Since I started to each clean (and that means no processed foods and certainly not sugar substitutes, aspartame, stevia or anything fake like that) I have felt so much better. The only food I am intolerant of is yeast so that rules out alcohol and bread.

Now I want to lose a few more pounds before we go to the Caribbean in July.

Hi Team,
I'm new to the team...it's a struggle to eat clean but I know it's one step at a time. The weekend is here, can anyone provide a few tips to keep me eating clean this weekend?

Love eating clean. Have been doing it for about 3 months. Never felt better and it is NOT about weight loss. Funny, a few weeks ago, on vacation, I HAD to have a hot dog. After just a few bits, I felt sick! My body did not want it. Goes to show, if we listen to our bodies, it will have us make the right decision. I totally crave mangos now.

Can you use Truvia? I have baked with that, I am new to clean eating and not sure if that one is allowed. It gets recommended a lot.

I'm wondering if anyone has baked with Stevia. I did so in my muffins, and it was GREAT, but I want to try it in cakes and granola. We grind our wheat and grains so I'd be using whole grains with the stevia. The muffins I made were WONDERFUL! Here is the link:
