Maybe this would help...

1 oz = 7g of protein

The leaner the source, the few calories and lower the fat grams
The higher the fat content, the higher the calories and fat grams.

The spark people nutrition tracker will show you the protein, carb, fat content of pretty much anything. If you can't find it there, calorieking.com is a good source.

(It's ok... we've all had a blonde moment, right?) Or at least I have! LOL

Ok, ok...I get it now.
Where do you find information on converting size portion to it's nutritional benefits?
Probably the USDA.
I've been giving my kids 1/4 tests all week, (homeschoolers) and I must just be fried. LOL!
I'm really not this blankminded---although being blonde and Polish doesn't help emoticon

I had 4.06 oz chicken breast with my lunch today - that equates to 27g of protein. Chicken breast is not 100% protein. I think this is where the hang up is.

If you were having 4 oz of chicken breast 5x each day, you'd consume only 135g of protein.

540g of chicken breast but only 135g of protein.

Right?
1 Ounce = 28.3495231 Grams
4 oz = 113.398 grams
16 oz = 453.592 grams
So to stay within the books comment about grams per day, you get about 1/2 a chicken breast and you're done for the day.
So forward thinking means that if I wanted to split said chicken breast into 4-5 meals, it's practically a 1 inch square per meal.

3 ounces = 85 grams.
454 grams = 1 pound. So, that sounds about right...

What I'm doing now is eating 3-4 oz. portions (of protein) 5 times a day. I do a pretty good job of tracking if you want to see...(except weekends).
But if calculations are correct.... 4x5=20 oz. per day converted into grams=566.990 grams per day!!!!!HUH?
That's just crazy.

Yes. So, I would think that you would want to eat 3-5 ounces of protein (lean meat, fish or poultry) FIVE times a day... GENERALLY speaking.
There are other sources of protein also... protein powders, beans, tofu, quinoa...

3.57 ounces of protein is slightly less than the size of an average chicken breast (4 - 6 oz)

So basically, if I wanted to stick to around 100 grams, than I could only allow myself 3.527 ounces of protein a day.
How does that fit into the Cooler 1 meal plan? Are those servings about a tablespoon in size?
I'm missing something.

I try to eat at leat 100 gram per day. Oxygen mag and Muscle & Fitness Hers says you should eat 1 gram of protein per pound of LEAN muscle muscle that you have. I have approximately 112 pounds of lean muscle that I want to retain. Therefore my GOAL is to eat 112 grams of protein. MORE if I want to GAIN muscle.
I only eat 25 grams of protein at one sitting, though...

If it helps, there are 28.35 grams in every ounce.

56 will be easy to achieve. It would be very hard for me to stay that low as I usually eat 100-125g per day. Is that what you are worried about?

Well your shake has 6 grams not ounces. I know the conversion can be tricky and I don't pretend to have it figured out. I would operate in either grams or ounces. How I do it is use my measuring tools and enter it into spark and it converts. I also for meat and stuff that I can weigh, I weigh using my scale. It will switch between ounces and grams.

I use the nutritional tracker by entering all of my food into it and it tells me the ranges. Have you tried putting in your food and see what you get?

Ok, I'm must be a complete moron.
I'm literally looking at Tosca's book, page 161.
I'm trying to tell sparkpages how many grams of protein I need to follow everyday.
According to the book, in the green box, I should be taking in about 56, as I already have huge muscles, I just want to lean-out.
Using a conversion calculator online, I'm finding that 56 grams equals 2.11 ounces per day.
Are you kidding me? I couldn't even begin the day in that range. My protein shake has at least 6, and that doesn't include the soymilk.
Help...am I missing something???
I'm honestly looking for advice on grams/ounces for carbs and fats too, so that I can better utilize SP nutritional tracker.
Thanks in advance to anyone out there that can help.
I workout everyday to P90MS.
Anne
