MARIENOW : I have been there hun!!! I just got divorced, but I was separated a year and a half before it was final. I had MONTHS where I didn't function normally. It will all come back to you. Don't worry. It is normal to mourn, and the fact is....you have to go through it and not get around it, or it will just keep haunting you. So stick it out. You'll be ok. I didn't think I would be, but I am. It took therapy for a year and a half too.

Laurance - I like to get out to do my walking but at the moment I am back to using my Leslie Sansome walk away the pounds video's. She is very low impact and can still work up quite a sweat. I did the easy 1 mile this morning and as soon as I got home I did the strengthening 1 mile. So I got my 2 in today. Will do the strength mile in the morning and then try to do the 2 mile higher intensity when I get home. I am hoping it will help me sleep to. As I am having trouble with that again, seems I can't sleep without a pill these days, but hopefully more exercise will help that. I hope I hope.

Am still eating my celery sticks for lunch, but I have added 1 to 2 TBLSP of peanut butter in case the celery is bitter or strong, but try to eat most of it without the pb. today I kinda blew it by having a hamburger and small handful of French fries for dinner. But will be back at it tomorrow as I have laid out my chicken breast, and a pack of fish. herbs and spices really help for the flavoring, and will have some steamed broccoli or maybe just a salad, which I have also given up my ranch and now use cider vinegar and some flaxseed oil.

I think instead of having 2 cups of coffee for breakfast am going to try to have a fat flush smoothie instead and big glass of hot water with lemon. I know I will feel better if I eat right and exercise it is just so darn hard most of the time.

Other then this.. not much is going on with me.. I hope everyone is hanging in there and doing the best they can. I think of my spark friends often and you all are always in my prayer.

Baby Steps everyone.

Good on you, Same, for getting out there and getting your distance in. I had to get up really early and go and get ol' Sweetie who had a sleep study done. It was still dark out, and there were joggers out there even though it's COLD and dark. They had their reflective vests on and headlamps. I don't know if I will be that determined. I do walk, but I chicken out when it's too cold.

I'm laughing about your comment about eating beans if we could fart $100 bills. Thanks for starting my day with a laugh.

Good morning room. I have already logged 1 mile so far this morning and it is only 6 a.m. Have been trying real hard to stay up and moving. some days are easier then others. I did not get my walk in yesterday but did do lots of squats and side bends... I am actually carving out a waist again. Am finally in 2 pair of my jeans again. 1 pair is baggy and one pair fits nice. Am now trying to get into 2 others that are a size smaller. Wish me luck. Am trying to get ready for our vacation that is coming up at the end of December. Am very nervous about it.

We finally got our driveway taken care of and I am so happy. After a year am so glad that it is finally off my list. Now unfortunately my compressor on the heating unit is acting up. I am hoping if it is going to break that it does it before we go on vacation. I would be heart broke if it does it while we are gone. Always something to worry bout.

Boy got his drivers license and is harping that he wants a car. I tell ya if only we could fart hundred dollar bills..... I would be eating more beans... lol.

Anyway am off here to check my mail and maybe play a game of solitaire.

Hope everyone has a great day will check back in after work and hope I have another mile to log.

Hello, Dolly...I'm taking care of my Sweetie. Luckily he's not mean mouthed to me. In fact he's sweeter and more affectionate than he was when he was younger. If he were mean to me it would be unbearable and I'd have to get him out of the house if I didn't want to just curl up and die from depression and stress.

Although he is the most loving man, he's also stupidly inconsiderate. He means no harm, he just isn't housebroken. He has a childish streak, and while it makes him sweet, it also makes him, well, like an inconsiderate child who doesn't understand how to behave like an adult.

I'm so tired and burned out. I take him to the doctor doctor doctor, day after day, we live at the doctor's office. My days are all chopped up with taking him to the doctor. I feel as if my life isn't really my own.

Today I was particularly depressed. I hope tomorrow is better.

BLT-52 and Dementeddragon1, I understand well about finances. Things were supper tight when I couldn't work anymore and my husband wasn't working. Takes a long time to fight for disability income too. Even now with getting disability income, things are tight. We can each only do what we can and find ways to get by more cost effectively. Good luck and hope all works out.

You can do all things you set your mind to. You can do all things through Christ that strengthens all. Challenge to remind myself of this daily. sparkpeople.com

Hi BLT-52,
I understand where you are at. It's hard to work on health when finances are bad. I need to quit my job, but can't. It's discouraging.
Good luck to you, I hope it works out.

Hi everyone -- I'm starting over again. Well, not 100% over since I have still lost 11 pounds. But I gained 9 or so. Anyway, I'm in a funk big time. Just stayed in bed all day today. Worried about my lack of employment mainly but also the end of a relationship.

So I'm in one of those "hide from the world" phases. It's very depressing. I'm going to TRY to bring myself out of it by eating right. I know it will give me a boost if I can at least lose weight during this downtime in my life.

Good luck to us all :)

I have never been on pinterest.. I guess I will have to look at it.

I to am having the worst neck and back pain. my neck feels like bone on bone, and suffering terrible headaches. So I guess it is time to go to the chiropractor in the morning. It takes me about 40 minutes to get there and is all on back roads that are twisty windy, and I guess I can't put it off anymore.

Am having a busy weekend, as BF and his kids are here this weekend. Not really wanting a lot of company but I guess it is happening whether I want it to or not. Seems like when he is home his kids are here.. and would just like it to be us sometime. But I guess this is part of being in a relationship. I hope I can handle it.

M.I.L. is finally home from the hospital and now I get to spend a lot more time down there with her... and lucky me the ex is back to calling all the time. And have had to deal with him twice now on the phone.. and already had enough of that.. same old same old, death threats, how much he hates me and the boys, how he is going to burn the house down and hopefully I am in it when it does, how I need to get out of " his " house and move into a cardboard box under a bridge, and then the biggy.... How much he l oves me.. and how he misses me.. Did I mention how much I just love to be down there these days.

Oh now for some good news... I finally got my driveway worked on and got gravel. Well waiting on another load but then it will finally be done.. well til spring anyway, and just to keep up on it am going to get more gravel.. the more the better. and then if I have to wait like I did this year, maybe it won't be so bad. And will still have some money left in the bank...

Anyway, the boys are getting rowdy and maybe just a little upset that I am sitting here on this thing.. So I hope everybody has a good evening. and I really hope I do to. I will try to check in here tomorrow..

I just got back from a very strenuous hike. Hiking does help with the depression. For a while, that is. Doesn't cure things. But I do get a good evening, a good rest of the day after strong exercise.

CHELE- Yes Pinterest is addicting! I am in recovery, and watching my Pin time, and am doing a lot better. I was really proud of myself the other day for not overdoing it now, and then I crossed 20,000 pins and thought well, I might be still doing a bit much.

I can't be on too long folks, my back and neck are really bad, and I have been resting all day. I was really bummed to be laid out again, and this time not have fallen, but I finally figured out today, that it's probably due to going from my 4x4 truck to my old Jetta at ground level. I was pretty sore after the work on the lake house last week, then the truck died, and then a week of getting in and out of the little car, different seat, etc. So, still sore, but feel better for having an idea of what is going on.

I had to laugh at the ole bad karma today. So, I am laying down all day, staying away from the Jetta, when my glasses come apart. The guys were all out, and so I had to call my wife to come help me get them fixed. She did, and guess what she drives- a Mini-Cooper, so off I go in a Mini-cooper to get my glasses fixed- hah! Off to ice, have a good evening!

take care, bob

So Im planning a trip south to see my daughter who moved down in september. She is my youngest, and I am going to surprise her. So yesterday while driving to pick my grandbaby up from school my shock in my car blew. So now I have to worry about getting it fixed before I go. But at least it went while I was in town, and not on the Eway. Its got to get better.

Help! I'm having one of those days when something happens and you can do nothing about it and it worms its way inside you and makes you feel like everything you know is going to come crashing down around you so much so that you can hardly breathe or move and just want to cry. I'm away from home and have no way to contact them. And I have to pull myself together as I have job to do here. Just need help through the next few days.

Good Afternoon, Everyone!

I have suffered from depression for several years now. I really think it has to do with pre-menapause. I am on meds of the depression and they seem to be working well but I still get into depressive funks sometimes. I think that is why I have weight issues as well. I tend to be an emotional eater.

All I can do is take 1 day at a time and try to lose some weight. I think it's worse if I don't even try!

Everyday is a New Day!

Welcome to the group! I like your positive spin on the end of your post--things will get better. Its tough to feel optimistic when things in our lives are out of control. You've shared a few challenges that I'm sure can seem daunting. On the positive side, you're taking an excellent step by sharing with others, as well as, continuing to persevere. There are lots of people here who care and want to see others find balance in their lives. Hope your day gets better :)

Hello everyone, I'm new to this group but this topic fits so well. I'm Bi-Polar, pre-diabetic with osteoarthritis at least in my knees. Boss has me stuck in the basement. It hurts to get down the stairs and he is so very unpleasant. I'm working on a degree to get out of here but so tired. I need to quit, but hubby doesn't work due to his own medical problems and lack of training. Can't get Social Security while I work. Stuck. I know things will get better, eventually, I hope

Hello room, sounds like everybody has been busy. Or trying to be. That is always a good thing.

I have been going crazy at work as my lady is getting worse or at least having more bad days and more accidents.. Needless to say I have at least been staying busy.

Got boys progress report from school.. and he is doing great.. if he would bring his lab grade up a little bit he would be on A B honor roll.. I wish he would try just a little bit harder. This would be the 2nd time he was on honor roll. and the last time made him real proud. as it shoulda ..

M.i.l. had another spell.. and is in the hospital again. Now they are saying that maybe she has encipilitis.. they did a spinal tap on her.. but have not heard what the results was... b.i.l. thought she was having a stroke but the hospital says she is not having strokes,, they think it is seizures.. idk.. all I know is b.i.l. is mad that I have not gone to see her yet.. she is over an hour away and there is no way I am taking my jeep that far. I can't afford to fix it if it breaks. anyway I am sure I will have more then enough time to spend with her when she gets home.. and then some. trying not to let him guilt me into things.

Got a lot of stuff done today, and feel better about that... I worked inside and outside. and have almost a whole sheet of things I have accomplished today.

Anyway am going to sit here and talk to bf before my phone dies... and then talk to boy about his day with granny.. I guess he got to drive home... so glad they made it alive.. lol.. just kidding.

Needs and Bob.. thanks for not being TO upset that I write novels.. lol... I to feel like I connect when in here... even though I have never met any of you guys, I still feel like I know you. it is great.

Have had another long week, and have not been in here to much. So am going to read some of the posts and try to catch up with everyone.. then will probably come right back.

M.I.L. had another spell... and is in the hospital.. and b.i.l. is mad that I have not gone to see her yet. She is almost 90 miles away, and there is no way that I am willing to risk my vehicle all that way. And I have no idea where the hospital is. And when you work all day that last thing I want to do is drive for over an hour somewhere I have no idea where Im going.

Anyway I think I am off here to read some of the post and talk to my bf.. who is on the phone with me now... so check back in a minute.

O.K. ... in my TOTAL ignorance, what is this "Pinterest" that I hear/see so much about ????

Bob, sounds like you had a right COW of a day :-(

I well remember what it was like when the truck belonging to the Concrete Products firm my husband used to work for, (managing a branch) was having big issues or had died. They had to be capable of going in some weird and wonderful, and some less than wonderful places, and be capable of lifting large concrete water tanks. THEN try and tell customers who deemed their job so urgent that it needed to be done yesterday :-(( Sometimes it was a case of hiring in another firm to transport them, but that was very dependent on their time-table too.

Hope everyone is doing o.k. and those who may not be, know that you are thought about!

Kris xx

NEEDTOBESLIM3- so glad to hear you are building some bridges with your mother. I hope you two continue on a positive path. Glad you like the long posts, weíll keep racing together with the other humans.

MPN5621- Glad keeping busy is working well for you! I agree itís better than the alternative, and has worked for me too, most of the time, unless I listen to the voice that says rest and donít get going and then I canít keep it all at bay.

Oy, what a week! I finally got started on a stressful job, and was quite anxious about it, but was more worried the client would kill me if I didnít get going. Everything went well, and I was just about to relax, when only one of two trucks showed up and was told, there is a problem. The other truck had overheated and was stuck on the Interstate, with the police stopping since it was smoking.

I kept my cool, though we had no cell connection at the Lake House and I couldnít find out what was up. I wasnít excited about a repair bill, but was glad the employee had it towed to the right place. Well, when I got there the mechanic told me the truck was dead. The engine was burned up, and it would cost too much to repair. So, the truck that was working great was dead- the third one this year that died!

So, money problems, logistics problems, schedule problems, dealing with used car salesmen, bummed over yet another set-back. So I did the best I could do, but it wasnít a fun week. I now am trying to push myself into invoicing again, so I can get enough money in to buy another truck once I have time to find one. Not the end of the world by any means, but to do that I donít like doing. No, rest for the wicked.

I have had to really watch my snacking, eating since I found out I had lost 15 lbs. My self-destructiveness really kicked in once I found out, and I have been craving snacks, which I hadn't been for weeks. I haven't fallen too far off course, just more energy bars, diet coke, and cravings so far.

Doing ok today, tried on some new cloths that fit well, did some good work on Pinterest, and hey posting here again. take care, bob

O.K. everybody ..... this is my 19,000th post :-)

ANYway, the Aussie Termite Eradicator guy came in this a.m. It will probably be the last time I see him because he is declaring our sections termite free after today's inspection. The NZ Ministry in charge of it will be monitoring for (probably) the next 5 years, but not so often. I don't know if we will be able to take anything wooden off our sections yet, and hopefully they will still pay for us getting rid of our gardening waste, like tree pruning etc.

Well! I didn't know Kiwi shoe polish was from Australia! It's always been a common household product, and I never thought to see where it came from!

Kiwi Shoe Polish is the only shoe polish I remember as a child over 50 yrs ago. Strange as it may seem, it was actually an AUSTRALIAN product, BUT called this because the developer's wife was a Kiwi, and it was to honor her roots.

There's been hotter weather in many parts of this country, too. I'm waiting to see what sort of winter we will have. We used to have snow by this time, and plenty of it for me to shovel. But the past couple of years, well, little or no shoveling.

I was aware that "Kiwi" is a name for people in New Zealand, but I didn't know if it was complimentary or insulting, or a bit of both.

"Yankee" is either, depending on who is calling me a Yankee. If I were a baseball player, well, the New York Yankees are a baseball team, and the name is not insulting. When people in the northeast US use the term to refer to themselves, it's usually positive, such as "Yankee ingenuity".

But when I went down South, well, uh, I'm a Yankee by virtue of being in Pennsylvania (which is the southernmost of the Northern states - our south border is the Mason-Dixon Line with Maryland and West Virginia as the most northern of the Southern states), and sometimes "Yankee" is not a complimentary term.

And there are many parts of the world where people are angry at the US, and "Yankee" is a thoroughly negative term.

What about "Canuk" for Canadian people? Do Canadian people use that term?

I do know that Kiwis are those funny flightless birds you have there. There's a kind of shoe polish we have, Kiwi Shoe Polish, that has the little bird on it. But it was only since I got on Spark People that I heard the term applied to New Zealand people.

I have to say that the internet has put me in direct contact with so many people around the world, people I would have never met in the days of Snail Mail.

Last summer our area had 3 major fires that took a week or more to put out. Altho' a couple other parts of the country have this sort of thing happen, it is the very first time I EVER recall it in my area. It wouldn't be so bad but the one closest to my place (about 3 miles in a straight line) included a bit of a large commercial pine forest.

New Zealand is getting hotter, and in my area often very high humidity in the summer. My area (north of Auckland) also has tropical torrential down-pours, but also has some very long dry spells - not like from what I remember as a child.

The odd fireworks have been popping off tonight, but only intermittent, and not enough to alarm the dogs around.

I had thought that I might try to get an extra lie-in in the morning (not that I work so I don't have to get up other than Scruffy needs to be fed and go out for her morning 'pee-pee') but the Termite Exterminator guy is coming in tomorrow to check the house. He said it would probably be about 0900 - 0930hrs :-(

Nite,
Kris xx

Well, I'm sorry to hear that Guy Fawkes Night isn't quite what it used to be. I have to say that Halloween isn't quite like it was when I was a kid.

I was in a Halloween costume store and even though this is the US, I did see a Guy Fawkes mask.

Has New Zealand become dryer in the past few years, less rain, more danger of fires?

When I was young fireworks were illegal here in our part of Pennsylvania. When I was a young adult they legalized fireworks for trained people to set off at properly authorized celebrations. And now they're available to anyone. At the end of June they start selling them in anticipation of the Fourth of July. I can count on the neighbors down the street to set some off.

Yep I'm am a New Zealander :-) When I joined SP I DID go under another name but hubby wasn't impressed because it was my real name, so I changed it after I had lost a few kg - hence the 'slimmer' part and 'kiwi' is a term applied to New Zealanders (after our native flightless bird :-)

Unfortunately for us, Guy Fawkes night is on the wane - a large part of it is because it is becoming increasingly more dangerous - not so much with the fireworks getting bigger, but rather that we are more prone to fires than we were a few years ago, and also because there seems to be more complacency over fireworks safety which results in some pretty nasty burns. We can only buy them in the 5 days prior to and including the 5th November - after that the shops have to remove them from their shelves and can be fined if they sell them after that.

My mind isn't so much of a fog today.

Was having lots of bad days for a while, but am now trying to stay busy to keep the sad thoughts, feelings, and even despair at bay. It's working pretty well so far - at least it's better than the alternative.

Hellos to everyone and hugs to all who need them!

Guy Fawkes! Guy Fawkes! Never mind that I'm an American, I love the idea of Guy Fawkes Day. A penny for the Guy, a penny for the Guy! Yes, I noticed that yesterday was Guy Fawkes Day (and that I got 100,000 Spark Points on Guy Fawkes Day), but I didn't have any real way of celebrating.

I get that there's some connection between English Guy Fawkes Day and American Halloween, with kids going from door to door.

Quite some years ago when I was living in NY State my best friend's cousin came over from England. My friend's father was an American soldier, and her mother is Irish and was in England back during World War II. Anyway we had Guy Fawkes Day with a small bonfire. We didn't have a Guy, but we did gather around the bonfire.

If you're a Slimmer Kiwi, does this mean you live in New Zealand? You should be coming out of winter now, enjoying spring. Here in the northern latitude winter is coming on. You get fireworks on Guy Fawkes Day. We get fireworks on July 4th. High summer for us then, and deep winter for you.

Hi all - I've read the posts, but can't really take them all in at the moment. It is really early (for me) still, but will very soon be heading off to bed to listen to the rain on the roof, and the occasional fireworks. It was Guy Fawkes last night but it got rained out, so I guess there will be little bits of banging and flashing between the bursts of rain.

Nite all,
Kris

Hello all, been fairly busy over these last few weeks. I've been over to England to see my mum. It was so lovely to have her being nice to me. She is getting very frail and I'm not sure how often I will see her again. We had a chance to chat and to build some bridges and I'm so happy about that. I have been ringing her regularly since I got back and she has been fine with me most of the time.

Same and Bob, I love to read long posts. Its great to connect when one spends a lot of time alone. A wee insight into other lives makes me feel part of the human race!! XX

Sending you all hugs and blessings, take care of yourselves. Dee. XX

SAME- Donít get me started on people who are gone for a while and come back and write a long post! I am stunned at how long it is, stunned I say! What were you thinkingÖ..you are me or something- hah! I always feel like I belong, when I see such a long post. Sounds like you need a new cleaning challenge, since your house is doneÖ.my door is always open for you! Boy you will need the internet to de-stress with a teen age boy driver. Hope they get you hooked up! Glad you at least found someone to look at the drive, now if you can get someone quicker- Angieís List?

LAURANCE- Sounds like you are doing some care giving for yourself now by asking for help. I hope you have success with the Office of Aging. Keep at it; even if they are slow, they are for there for you, keep telling them what you need until you get it.

KRIS- good lesson for all of us to take steps to get the obstructions out of our way, or automatically above us in your case. I know I tend to not deal with things like this, and not have the pleasure you have coming home. Iím sure itís brightens your whole evening to come in, in a positive way.

ANGELBELIEVER- Super smart to be seeing about your foot. Your balance has so much to do with your pain throughout your body. I have four bad areas of deteriorating discs in my back, and I know my foot and knee problems, getting my alignment off have made everything worse. I really hope you get your feet / shoes worked out well and it brings you relief not only there, but throughout your body.

WOWEETO- So glad to see you here! Thanks for all your support and good wishes throughout the year, they are much appreciated! Congrats again for hitting the 200,000 mark!!! What an accomplishment and an inspiration.

Today has not been too bad, with the anxiety being mild. We have a big job, out of town starting tomorrow, for my biggest client, and I will be edgy until itís done. I am still having some stressful personnel situations, but am doing as good as I can, and time is helping some.

I had an encouraging sleep doctor visit, the end of last week. Itís pretty much the first one I have in 12 years, since most of the doctors; donít have a clue about the subject. This doctor really knows his stuff, and had a number of pro-active, and some alternative ideas to work on my still being tired after all these years on Cpapís, Bi-Paps. He spent a lot of time on the medications I take, and how they and their interactions affect sleep. Of course the ones for pain, depression, and anxiety are the worse for sleep, so ??? He did give me some resources to study up on this, and at least Iíll know more about whatís going on

The best part about seeing the doctor was finding out I had lost 15 lbs. since I had last weighed. I guess it was about 2 months ago, probably at my last doctorís appointment. I normally am not a weigher, and I guess lately, I just havenít wanted in bad news, even though I knew the ole pants were getting loose.

The main things that have helped the last couple of months are a lot less diet coke, since I have been eating breakfast in, which has cut a lot of calories out. This is mostly due to being bummed out about having to move into a new office and personnel problems, and I think because I have been sleeping a little longer due to the sleep machine being better adjusted. So, I have to watch the isolating and not going out, but at least this is one timed being bummed out, has helped me lose weight. I also have cut way back on eating bread.

This Saturday we even went fall fashion shopping Ďtil I dropped! Hello, luvvved itÖ.ok hated it, but glad to have a few things that arenít in tatters. First shopping in 20 years, where I got a smaller size. Itís been a pretty straight line progression up the xl, xx, xxx, 4xÖ..ladder. Been getting 5 or 6x the last year, got all 4ís. Yea girlfriends dropped a size!

take care, bob ps. SAME feel better, about how long yours was?

what I thought was a quick note looks very much like a novel to me. I guess if I came in here more often I would not write novels. One of the things I am going to have to work on.

Hello room, so glad some of you had good weekends. Is good to hear good news to. I also feel for the ones who are having pain, whether it is from ole uncle Arthur, or other very painful ailments. I will send out prayers and of course a hug. As always everyone is in my thoughts and prayers.

Slimmer - auto garage doors are a blessing that is for sure. My m.i.l. has them in her garage and they are a great help. As I have no door on what I call my garage I don't have to worry bout it. Just have to worry bout people getting in .. Not a good thing.

I have had a fairly productive weekend. I managed to get my whole house clean, with the exception of running the vacuum, which I can always do in the morning. Also got most of the laundry done. Not the whites as water is just not quite clear yet.
I was out working in the yard some to. Picking up fallen branches and did a little raking of leaves to. I put them in black lawn and leaf bags then just let them sit all winter and add them to my flower beds in the spring. A little extra fertilizer I guess.
Played with my dog some to.. she of course loved that. And I did to. I also hung a load of laundry on the line, and I loved that. Didn't quite get dry but at least didn't have to run the dryer for to long.

Have been having trouble with our internet blocking us from getting online, and have been on the phone with phone company 3 times this week, I guess they are sending us a new modem as they said they have not seen this problem before. I sure hope it helps. I get very frustrated when I can't get online. Playing games and window shopping and other such stuff is the way I de stress.

My boy got his driver license yesterday and he is so happy. But now I guess I will have to work on getting more insurance for my car to have him on it to. I know I can't afford to do this right now but I kinda have to if he is going to be driving. Finally got one thing off my list of things to do. Now to bad the driveway is still on it. I did have a guy come today and look at it. But the best he could offer me was to have it done by the end of the year. Not happy bout it but is better then nothing I guess. But am really pushing my luck if I think we are not going to get any snow between now and the end of the year.

Anyway before this turns into a novel I better get off here. And find something else to get into. or just sit and watch some tv. CSI Miami is on right now. Patiently waiting for 9:00 for the walking dead to come on. Watched some of True Blood season 5 this weekend between cleaning and playing outside. It is getting pretty good.

I hope everybody has a good rest of their weekend.
