Amanda - On my work days (as I work nights) I hit the treadmill or my private road. On nonwork days and weather permitting I am outside somewhere. I try to make sure I always have walking items packed with me (a water bottle, gloves, Ipod, headphones, energy packet in case it is a couple hour walk and Garmin forerunner (mileage/pacing watch) so whenever the opportunity presents itself I have no reason to NOT get the miles in. I personally am a HUGE fan of John "The Penguin" Bingham and his slow running/walking philosphy. I know that I will not be a front runner in the races but I dont care - this is about me. I work M-F so on the weekends if you want a walking buddy who walks faster than a stroll give me a holler. If I dont have a race going on already I will try to be there =)

Amanda, I'm not sure how others are training I started walking on the treadmill even though I had the treadmill at an incline of 10 so hopefully that will get me prepared for Bloomsday! When the weather is nice I hike to get the outdoor ups and downs.

You are welcome. We got our filter when our dear daughter kept getting sick and we finally put enough pieces together to figure out it was the water making her sick every 3 to 6 weeks. She takes a filter where ever she goes or buys bottled water.

I have been able to walk at least 2-3 miles a day but Bloomsday is what 7miles right. I would love to meet up with any of you at Bloomsday. Any tips on training would be awsome.

I would love to know about the filter. I changed to bottle water as for right now until I save enough money to get a water dispenser like from Culligan.

I'm determined to do Bloomsday this year even if it is only walking! I've joined a 6 week challenge thru my Hubby's work with one of his coworkers. Looking forward to seeing how that will keep me motivated!!

Hope you have a water filter now that filters out Giardia. If you don't I let you know of a good, economical one. WooHoo for you both! Going to be cheering for you.

AMC - glad to hear you are feeling better! I am doing Bloomsday this year inbetween my half marathons and I too am a walker. I have already told the family that it is on my agenda this year and have been booking half marathons around the Bloomsday date ---- Maybe we can meet up even just to say hi at Bloomsday =)

I think the key for me is just to continue to do SOMETHING. Like in January, my boyfriend and I are giving up soda, fancy coffees, and energy drinks. Also pies, cakes, etc.

Fancy coffees and sodas are a weakness of mine, so I am hoping that this will help. If I can go the full month without, it'll be awesome to see what happens.

I am still going to have regular brewed coffee--but I am NOT to add sugar. My karate school is helping me monitor this and so is my friend/coworker.

I am continuing to work on my goals. I have set reminders on my calendar to remind me that I am just as important as all the other things I do. I make fitness dates with others so that I have to be accountable by keeping up my fitness. I am continuing to sign up for half marathons so that I am always moving forward if for nothing else so I can complete the half marathons in the time allotments per race.
