yeast breads are good exercise to make by hand. Check the King Arthur Flour website. Great blogs with directions and nutrition info. I love the Whole wheat loaf. My knife slides over so portion control is tricky.

I am a avid baker...made some low cal and healthy chocolate and chocolate chip muffins today! 104 cal per muffin! :)

As for bread, I would not know of any that are low cal, but King Arthur has a recipie on the back of their whole wheat flour. Their recipe never fail me, but I do not know the calorie per slice.

I can do pumpkin bread easy but all else don't work for me. But i can make just about any cake in a try or two.

Let me know what you find I'd love to try making another bread.

Although I am a baker, I've never baked bread. I stick to cupcakes, cookies, all the stuff that's bad for you! But, I recently got a bread machine that I'm very excited to try!

A lil more than 100 cals but I'm hoping it will taste great.

I love to bake and am trying to adapt recipes to make them more healthy. But I have never really tried making bread - like the kind for sandwiches. Just banana, zucchini, etc. Right now I am on a healthy muffin quest. But if you find a good recipe, please share!

I don't have a recipe that specific, but what I do have is a recipe book recommendation:

Local Breads by Daniel Leader.

The recipes all seem to be easy and rustic and all come with multiple ways of measuring (by weight or cups). My stepson likes sandwiches on focaccia and I found a great recipe in this book that I've now altered to have more whole wheat in it.

Now, if I could just get my wheat sandwich bread recipe to stop sinking in the middle!

Are any of my Done Girls bakers? I have given up entirely on the idea of store bought bread now that fall has rolled around and I haven't ever found a bread that my hubby and I can agree on. So, I am on the hunt for the ultimate healthy bread recipe. I am looking for something dark and relatively dense, but still not oppressively high calorie wise. I'd love something under 100 cals a slice. Oh, won't go stale overnight. If y'all can point me in a good direction, I'd be thrilled!

Imperfection is important. If we were all perfect, then there would be no such thing as growth, and everyone would be extremely boring, which is, paradoxically, not that perfect.-- Dr. Matt
