My 6 year old step daughter has been helping me in the kitchen since she was 3. She knows more at 6 about cooking than I did at 25! And she just graduated to using my professional quality chef's knife (supervised of course) this weekend!

I'm right there with ya girl! I love cooking and baking. I love getting my kids involved with it too. But with anything creative my mind starts heading in so many directions of what I can do, who I can give it to, how it might benefit me to do it again, and so on and so forth. But I love it cause it makes me want to get up and do something instead of sitting on my butt all day. I say RUN WITH IT BABY! It beats the alternative!

I use the recipe from the Ball Blue book and cheat (the #10 can of unsweetened apple sauce from costco will make a double batch of the blue book recipe). The results seem more consistent with the oven for me; just stir to the center from the edges @ 30 minutes and total time 2 hrs or so. It's doneness is done by personal preference, it's done when it's the way you like it. the processing time is listed in the recipe. I'm sure it's available online.

I love cooking, 90% of the time. I don't like it when no one helps in anyway... if my hubby will set the table or do the dishes, or my son wants to help, then I'm great. But, every once in a while, I want someone else to be willing to say, "hey, I'll take over from here. Have a break." But, I love to be in control of my food and have fun doing so, MOST of the time!!

Imperfection is important. If we were all perfect, then there would be no such thing as growth, and everyone would be extremely boring, which is, paradoxically, not that perfect.-- Dr. Matt

Really in the oven you say??? The recepie I found was pretty much put it together in your crock pot before bed, set to low, sleep, wake up stir- if needed add more apple sauce for larger batch, stir, walk away, come back after lunch and can.

I'm really surprised that I'm enjoying cooking so much. I'm far from cooking a HUGE holiday meal, but maybe next year.

did you know that apple butter can be made in the oven using a roasting pan? works like a charm; 325 degrees, follow recipe for sugar and spices. bake uncovered and stir @ 30 minutes. takes about 2 hours and is ready to be canned. makes the house smell lovely!

I like cooking and baking. Although I only bake on special occasions or Christmas because my husband has a very big sweet tooth! emoticon

I love cooking too! Trying out new recipes is something I love! First, I got into baking, and that turned into a love for cooking in general. I think it's amazing how you can turn just a few simple ingredients into a wonderful meal!

I'll leave all my fellow foodies with this great quote:

i like cooking but sometimes it can be a chore when there are days when you just dont feel like doing anything but must still cook.my son has alot of allergies and as such i must cook everything from scratch and i mean everything down to bread, pasta, juices etc.my husband also will onmly eat fresh foods ,i.e it cant be frozen or even from the day before and much as i do love it(i used to cook in a 5 star hotel and also used to have my own catering firm at one point along with being a partner in a wholefood resturant/cafe.there are times when i want a break.they are very few and far between about 3 times a year but they are there.

Cooking is my zen thing....I'm not so good at baking, though I do make bread every other week for my step-son's lunch.

I love that anything is possible when you cook. Any combination of flavors. And experimentation is like adventure!

Cooking?

I'm currently making apple sauce from the apples that we picked this weekend and I'm thinking "I could make cakes, and apple butter doesn't look too hard, OO I can put the apple butter and Sauce in cans and give it to friends" and my train of thought keeps going. Its amazing!

I don't know what is going on with me but I'm enjoying that I enjoy cooking. I've always loved baking, but I enjoyed making a stir fry the other night (Although I don't know how to make that for 2 people), and Talapia before that. Insane and amazing!
