Good morning ladies. Today was the day that I decided to start weighing in again. Last time I weighed in was about a month ago, so I felt it was past time. During that month, I lost 4 pounds. I'm very excited because that is about a pound a month and I just got back into exercising this week, so it can only get better! I'm leaving for vacation in 4 weeks. I was originally hoping to get into onederland by vacation, but that's out of reach (that would be about a pound a day!) I've decided that if I can get under 220, I'll be very proud of myself. That comes out to about 2 pounds a week. It's possible, but honestly, I'm happy that I was able to get myself out of the 230s! **Done girl dance**

Hi girls :)

Well, I think I've finally discovered the root of my extremely slow, difficult weight loss. My doctor said that my thyroid is a bit underactive, so he did a blood test this afternoon and I go see him in two weeks to see how it looks and to discuss medication. Hopefully the pounds can start peeling off after that :D

I haven't been to the gym to st in years. I know I've gotta get back.

But when I went regularly, I did powersets, cardio warm up. And sometimes a longer cardio workout after.

It generally took me at least an hour at the gym - longer if I added longer cardio after.

Controlled lifting. Slower movements. Controlled release. I took my time with each lift. Good form. Long slow lifting. Focusing on full range of motion to work on long lean muscles. But instead of lifting one machine 12-18 times and resting before I would repeat, I would go to another machine. Work another muscle group. Back and upper body one day. Abs and lower body another day. Mind you, I was going 5days a week then. do one set on one machine, switch to another machine for the next set. Back to the first.... Until I got in all 3 reps of all. It kept my hr up the entire time, and got me out of the gym faster. I'm not much of a social butterfly when it comes to working out.

hello ladies. I glad to hear that you are doing well. I'm working hard today, but not accomplishing as well as I know that I can. My main conflict is eating. I haven't gotten dinner yet, but sparkpeople wants me to run my report because I've gone over their calorie and fat suggestions already. That's my main problem. I eat way too much food. I'm fighting myself between if I should change my daily goals to be a little easier for me to stay in or if I should just keep working hard and eventually I will find what I need to do. I'm also wondering about strength training. Today was strength training day for me. I worked on it for a half an hour and was only a third of the way through the list sparkpeople gave me. I went in to change the setting because I feel like an hour and a half of strength training seems like a lot. I had already had it set for 15 min! I could do the exercises a little faster, but it says to hold most of them for 2 second and then control it back to the beginning. If I go faster, I won't be doing either of those things. I also don't think I would get all of it done in 15 minutes with rushing them. What do you gals think I should do?

how's everyone doing,for myself am better,my knee don't hurt like it use to.the popping have slowed down some.and am working out more.the doctor said i need to get off more weight.because it some of the problem with my knees,the right one is worse than my lefted one.but since i have started walkind more.it start to feel better that along with eating 5 fruits and vegetables a day .which was something i hated.in the two weeks i have lost inches because my clothes is a little lose than what they were.

One month ago I couldn't climb a flight of stairs without getting out of breath and my feet were swollen and sore at the end of the day. Despite that I made a commitment to move more & started with a slow walk for a short distance that left me so tired it took hours to recover. I recovered and continued with slow walking 5 times a week. I kept it up for the entire month of July. I logged a total of 811 minutes of fitness. I still not fast but I am moving and my feet don't hurt and the stairs are easier. Even when you think you can't, it's amazing what you can do.
Wonder what August will do!

Hi girls emoticon I hope you're all doing well and aren't getting discouraged!

I just began my second week of the 30 Day Slimdown. Before I did my workout, my husband was cleaning out litterboxes and I was getting the brand-new 40-pound bag of litter out of our granny cart. I lifted it right out with very little effort.

Before last week, I could barely even budge that bag, and even if I did, it was a great effort and someone else had to hold the granny cart for me.

After I had used my trusty old scoop to put some fresh litter into the boxes, I hoisted the bag up onto my hip and poured litter straight into another box.

Before last week, that would have been impossible.

Then, with the bag still up in my hands, I easily carried it to the broom closet and stuck it in there.

Before last week, I had to scoot it along the floor to do that.

I think I'm in love with Jillian. emoticon

Upped my workouts and bought a DVD to shred in 30days. Going to give it all I have! Hopping to break my 189lbs pleateau. Not so worried about what I weigh any more.. just going to try and feel good about my hard work!

Good morning everyone! I haven't been around too much. My grandma is in the hospital, so my family has been just driving to and from the hospital all weekend. Food hasn't been too good during that since it was pick up this pick at that. I had a lot of fried chicken and lunch meat. I feel so much better today since I had just a bowl of cereal and we're taking the day at home since Vincent (my 3 year old) isn't allowed at the hospital yet. I did gain a new motivation for losing weight. My mom said that she wants me to get rid of all of my clothes that are now too small for me. I said I need them when I get that small again. She replied that she would buy me a new wardrobe if I lost the weight. Now I have the motivation of all new clothes AND the motivation to show my mom that it is when I lose weight not if! I just love to show people that they underestimate me. I hope you all are doing well. GET OUT THERE AND EXERCISE!

Hi Done Girls!

I am not a big poster on the forums; but I am here and read a lot of others thoughts. I did have to share that I am FINALLY losing weight after about 3 years of trying different things. I have not stuck to anything (even have joined sparkpeople a couple of times!). But, this time is different. . . my husband and I have become more active and in just over 4 weeks, I have lost 14 LBS. We are being so good together, and we still have our weaknesses. But, all in all, I am soooo proud of both of us!

Anyways, I love to read the stories and even the struggles on sparkpeople, as it helps me in this journey to a sexier me!

Today is a fresh new day. We went walking this morning at 2 different parks. Slow but steady exercise. I've been consistent with my exercise for 1 month and I do feel more fit.

Just came in from a walk with my two pooches and did some hamstring excercises... apparently they are weaker than my quads so my knee is clicking...so the doctor says.
Beautiful sunny day today and I dont have to work! Yay! Planning on getting an Iphone... they seem to be a huge craze... heh heh. Well my bf just made a tastey looking breakfast so i best go show some appreciation and eat it! Have a great day everyone!! I hope you are all doing fabulous!!! Keep up the good work!! Saw that salad you all were talking about! looks yummy! i have been making one for myself with just 3 ingredients

can of artichoke hearts (in water)
can of chick peas (drained)
spoonful of crumbled feta

drizzle with your fave fat free dressing---i eat this at least twice week for lunch---makes 2 lunches for me.

i am sure gonna try Mary's too!

starting a new life today. Well, going to try. Finally moved out on my abusive room mate. Got my own place. Last night was my first night alone there. Only problem is I haven't slept in a week now. Just fast naps - maybe 3hours/night. Not even a solid 3hours. That's collective.

Anyhow, I know my body. I'll sleep when I'm ready. In the meantime, I'm going to focus on moving forward. On to a new life!

Arrived at the gym ten minutes late today. (Not because I slept in late, but woke up in such a good mood, so spent a little time playing on the floor with our little puppy, Tater Tot.) I went to get on my favorite equipment, the elliptical, but all four were taken! One, a man, is a gentleman that I see every morning at the gym. He's like me...nice, but not a big talker. The other three- well, I've NEVER seen them there in the almost three weeks I've been going at 6:30 AM, every day. To make it worse, they were all about as round as one of my hips....when you put ALL THREE of them together. O.k. so that is probably a little bit of an exaggeration. Anyhow, I took it in stride (good thing I woke up in a good mood) and jumped on a bike for 10 min. When an elliptical was freed up, I took it, and STILL put in my 30 min. AND added an extra 5! I was a little late for work, but I feel good :)

I received the pic on my profile from a powwow photographer. He said he was glad to see me fancy shawl dancing again after so many years of Southern Buckskin Traditional dancing. The truth was I couldn't fancy shawl anymore. Just like I couldn't jingle dance any longer. My weight kept me from being able to do either.

My boyfriend is a dancer too and the pic on my profile was my first powwow back as a fancy dancer. I am so glad I am DONE being the fat girl who can't dance

last months i had some good moments,was'nt doing good and had some health issues.but today have being a good day and am hopeing the rest of the week and for that matter the rest of the month.
