I had been beating myself up about the 30 pound regain that i have had. Just last night I said "you know what? you have to get back reading on spark and participating." Boy am i glad I did. SO glad to know I am not alone, even though I knew it is is grand to see again.

My gym was closed last week and this week for their yearly close, which stinks because I am so ready to recommit. So what I am doing is this week track all my food and get my water in so that I am a little bit more used to that next week when I can get back to exercising. I have also started meditating for 10 minutes on my lunch break.

Feel free to add me and we can ride this wave together.

Light and love - Ingrid

Your tracker says you are 283#, so I was wondering if you have thought about gastric bypass surgery? I follow several people who have had it and they have done well, especially one woman who had the "sleeve" procedure, as she just couldn't keep the weight off. (Now, she admits she ate way to much pizza and drank way to many beers out with her friends each week-end.
Just start fresh.

I'm a recently returning Sparker and I've gained back 30 lbs, so know that you're definitely not alone! We're all imperfect human beings, and we are going to stumble. It cen be depressing, but the beauty is that we haven't given up on ourselves or our goals. We don't want to go back to where we started, and like someone else pointed out, you're still closer to your goal than you were before! That's something that I have to keep in mind as well. It's always easier to focus on the negative aspects, when we should all be celebrating our victories - even the little ones! Knowing that we're working on reaching our goals and that we're still ahead of the game, should help to keep us moving in the right direction! Feel free to add me as a Spark friend if you want some more accountability and encouragement! We can never have too many friends on this journey! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I lost 60 pounds in four months using this sight years ago. I have gained all of it back, PLUS an extra fifty pounds. It's horribly embarrassing, And I am very disappointed in myself, but coming back is the first step. I am being much more "loose" this time and not obsessing about doing everything perfectly, because I want to maintain.

Wow....I was sitting here dwelling on this very problem. Over the last 2 years I gained back around 50 of 80 lbs I had lost. Its nice to know I'm not alone in this problem. If theres anything I took from what others have commented, its that being back is victory one. We lost them once we can do it again, now with the knowledge that this is where we need to be to get er done. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Basically, (and I know this will sound harsh) but get over it, and get over yourself. Things happen, we don't always make the best choices, and it feels like failure. I hate that word though. Failure. The wonderful thing about SparkPeople is so many members use the term "weight loss journey". Journey. There's a great word. Change the word "failure' to "set-back". If you're back on here, ready to try again, you haven't failed.

When you get a flat tire on a road trip, do you give up, calling the journey a failure? Or do you understand these things happen, change the tire yourself, and continue on? And what happens when you can't change the tire? You call AAA, and they help you. SparkPeople is the AAA of the weight loss journey. Another great thing about the word journey is it implies it takes time.

You know what you did/didn't do to loose the weight to begin with, and you know what you did/didn't do to gain half of it back. You just need to be back on the Spark horse.

It might feel like you're starting all over, but you're not. You're 50lbs closer to your goal than you were. And because you're back on SparkPeople, you're one step closer. Posting for support on the Done Girls' team, another step. Just keep those little steps up, and that 45lbs will be gone, and so will any extra that's still around.

Please know I say this out of love and experience. I've been there, so many times. After the birth of my daughter, I lost about 45 pounds, moved, stopped Sparking, let my highly stressful life get in the way, and 2 years ended up weighing the same I did 9 months pregnant! Last summer, I "got serious" again, had more stress and another move and am now 10lbs lighter than I was 9 months pregnant, and my baby will be 4 next month!!

Something has to click in our heads to make this a PERMANENT lifestyle change. I hope getting back on Spark helps you find your AHA movement.

I'm right there with you! It's a terrible feeling. Just know that you are now doing something really great for yourself and that is the first step!

I lost a lot of weight (around 40lbs) very quickly after an emotional break-up (stress/not eating) and felt amazing. It slowly came back on and I started losing again just to feel better about myself. I lost about 10lbs when I went through another break-up (these two are like five years apart) and had the opposite problem, sat on my couch and ate crap food for a couple months before I pulled myself out of it. So I gained 20lbs from that and feel horrible about myself. I am at my heaviest and can't believe I've let it get so out of hand. I am working super hard to get it off and the weight isn't going anywhere! (posted about it in the inspiration section)

It is so very discouraging, but just trying to stick with it because I know I deserve better than this. So just know that you are not alone! So many people fall back into bad habits. The important part is picking yourself back up again. :)

Despite stress and depression I am fighting I am very disappointed and unhappy with myself for gaining back 60 lbs I worked so hard to lose now I am up there at the top again and somehow I have lost the belief in myself even though I am acting as if and making attempts but my heart is not in it. Can hardly walk, breathe or sleep right how do I get back to having faith in myself again since I don't even accept my own excuses to myself that circumstances in my life are bad...even though they are.

When do we reach a place where whoever and whatever happens in our life does not send us to food? Thank you for listening...I know I must not give up and those podcasts are wonderful your speaking about wish there were more hours in the day to work on ourselves and the head trips we play on ourselves.....

My plan: Track my food. Drink my water. Extra movement/fitness. Repeat. Everyday.

Ignore the scale. You probably ignored while you were NOT tracking, drinking and moving....try it for a while.

Plan to take at least 2 years to lose what you gained. Don't have unrealistic expectations.

Also, listen to IOWL podcasts to figure out how to get your internal issues figured out so that you don't start off like a rocket only dive head first into the nearest pizza when something goes amiss. There is a Team with free podcast links. We are a quiet team, there to support and be supported when needed - so no pressure, no challenges etc. You can just lurk or join as you feel the urge.

Welcome Back Done Girl!

I too gained 11lbs after losing a hundred pounds, you're not alone. Just start over, track everything and get that body moving.

YOU CAN DO THIS.

Welcome back! I am so proud of you for recognizing where you were heading and that you didn't like it. It's nowhere near too late, and you have the tools to do it. You did it once, you can do it again! You may have to do something different this time as far as keeping yourself motivated (at least that's the way it's been for me) but you absolutely can do it.

Look forward, set a time goal for yourself. And you won't have to lose all those 45 pounds again before you will start feeling good about yourself! This time next week, tracking and working out and doing what you need to do, and you'll feel like a completely different woman!

Yes, welcome back! I so understand how you feel. I lost about 40 pounds, then gained it all back. However, I made a pledge to myself that this is more than about losing weight. It is about being healthy. So, this time around, make a pledge to yourself. Don't be too down on yourself. You did it before and you can do it again!

I understand how you feel. I gained back 40-45 in about a year after losing 90. It sucks big time and I have struggled so much over the last couple of months of getting back into the groove of things. Welcome back though and we both can get back there!!

I gained back 24 after losing a hundred pounds. The point is, you are back! I realized I need this support and need it when I'm doing well too. I think when I was doing so well, I kind of got lazy about checking in, tracking anything, exercising.

I started a weight loss journal with a pic of my heaviest weight. Damn. I still look better than I did. Let's just start over. Don't beat yourself up.

I haven't logged on here in 2 years. I tried weight watchers and a few other things, but nothing has worked. I am not sure why I ever stopped logging into Spark People. After losing just over 100 pounds the weight has slowly crept back on. Since my log in 2 years ago I have gained 45 pounds back. I am beside myself right now. Has anyone been here before? How do I move on without beating myself up and dwelling on my failures? I still have kept off 50 pounds, but if I'm not careful I am going to be right back where I started. I am once again miserable in my own skin. It is so easy to put the weight on and so hard to take it off. It is a constant battle every single day. I appreciate any advice anyone has or any been there stories.

It comes down to a simple question: what do you want out of life, and what are you willing to do to get it?
