My weight fluctuates within 2-3# almost every day. Depending on what I eat or drink - how much fluid, how much salt, the bulk of the food and how much is still in your system, etc. I think most everyone does that. So, rather than check it every day, I try and look for a trend... (which right now is a maintaining trend - not on purpose).

I got a good walk this morning before the temperature got too warm for me. As I've gotten older, I don't do so well walking when it gets too warm out. Old age I guess... And I've eaten pretty well today also. I did have a fresh from the farm ear of corn with my main meal tho, it was delicious.. It was a smaller one. I had bought two of them, I put one in the freezer for another day.

Yesterday culminated in what I'd been preparing for all week -- feasting with DD at an all-you-an-eat brunch at a fancy restaurant. I'd like to point out that this WAS a deliberate choice, and I DID prepare all week by being extra-strict with my diet. Good, good, and good!

And I did wake up to a 1.4 lb overnight gain, but for the week, only a 0.8 lb gain. And we know some of that (maybe even most of that!) is just water. I plan this week to be extra-strict with myself to continue to counter the effects of my choice to go off my diet for that one meal.

Isn't that the way of it? For the ONE meal, I am "paying" two weeks of effort!

I spent a fun day with DD at the farmer's market and ate lunch out at a nice restaurant.... all I had was a salad!

Today again I did the bike thing. Gym 6.30 miles, treadmill 45 minutes at 2.6 mph, bike home again 6.30 miles.

DH decided to add to my stress. So... yesterday, all I have to report is that I managed to stay on my diet and not emotionally eat. I went outside and sat in the sunshine in order to calm down.

And doesn't it feel good to accomplish things and take care of yourself and occasionally treat yourself (well)? We sometimes have to remind ourselves that we are WORTH it, that we DESERVE it! Even the pleasure!

Rode my bike into town to the gym 6.3 miles. Walked on the treadmill for 45 minutes at 2.4 mph. Rode bike back home total of 13 miles on bike 1.5 miles on the tread!!

I went back to the doctor and got another course of cipro for 10 days for the 2 infections I have, kidney and ear, ugh, well at least I got it done

Just for today ..... it really is one day at a time

some girls do mani/pedis... I don't have fingernails strong enough to grow long enough to bother with.... I indulged myself yesterday with a medical/cosmetic procedure to tighten the skin on my tummy.
Turns out it was a PAINFUL procedure, and takes 3-5 days to fully heal! i am going to look on the bright side and tell myself to remember this pain and let it inform me regularly not to regain any of my lost weight!

I tried to fat-fast yesterday, I did well until dinnertime, when I felt the need to eat some of the strictly vegetarian food I had prepared for my guest, as a courtesy. DH sat down to dinner and refused to even taste it, DD was gone to work, and it was simply too awkward to have all that food made for ONE guest. I didn't want her to feel embarrassed that I had gone to the extra trouble... so I ate also. The thing was, the eggplant turned out the best I had ever made!

Anyway, what was really good for me was to let go of the stress for awhile and get out of the house and go to the lake and just sit and sun myself.

My cycling IS working well for me! Even on my Low Calorie Days, I don't feel hunger. I DO get the urge to eat! However, the discipline has revealed to me that a my snacking is mostly emotionally-motivated. More so than I thought. Knowledge is power; and I am already stifling those snacking urges and simply going outside to sit in the sun for a few minutes to sooth myself.
On my High Calorie Days, I've learned to adjust my ratios of fat/protein/carb to stimulate my hunger just slightly so that I don't feel so full that I can't eat! Essentially, my fat percentage is a little bit lower and my carb percentage is a little bit higher.
I think this is a more accurate answer to your question than simply saying "yes, I eat more carbs AND I eat more low-carb stuff." I mean, I have to! I easily eat 2-3 times the number of calories on a HighCal day than I do on a LowCal Day. I've pointed out in previous posts and blogs my reasons for my percentages. My fat percentage is in the neighborhood of 70-80%, and my carb percentage -- well, I strive for 0-10% -- but fiber makes it a more variable number! I believe it is much more important health-wise for me to eat more protein than carbs, so I'm always looking for ways to eat more protein, less carb, and keep my fat within 2 points of 75%.

Ultimately, when your ratios are fairly constant, as mine are, you're able to eat twice the carbs when you are eating twice the calories!

Lest I mislead you, I want to say that I set the bar high for myself. 75% fat is a LOT of fat! Cycling is very new to me and I couldn't find the info I wanted about combining cycling with low-carb, specifically within the Atkins Diet. I figured that if I ate at Induction level of carbs, then I was stabilizing a factor and it would be a KNOWN factor in a lot of unknowns! And that would help enable me to figure out how the other (unknown) factors were working.

Yes, it is working! IT'S WORKING! I've learned a lot about my body, which info I can use anytime, any diet. I'm learning self-discipline when it comes to food, another useful skill. Cycling has given me a large measure of confidence to be able to think that I know what I am doing, I know how my body will respond. I don't feel so helpless! And I am losing weight, slowly (about 2 lb/week) and consistently.

My next step is OWL, wherein I explore how many carbs I can eat and still lose weight at this comfortable rate.

I got a good 3 miles walking this morning - it was actually cool (middle 60's) outside, felt soooo good! I love walking when it's cool. One more cool day and then we're supposed to start heating up again, so I'll go out in the morning too.

Koshie, Sounds like your cycling is working well for you? Do you eat more carbs on your high calorie days or just more low carb stuff??

Yesterday, I lost 2 whole pounds! I'm dealing with some issues and it has seriously walloped me and I'm depressed and barely eating; so the weight loss is not unexpected. I expect it is water, but yeah, ANY loss (other than a body part!) is welcome! I concentrated on eating and drinking enough -- making it an HCal Day on my cycle. Which means, I ate 6 times the amount I ate the day before! I fell a bit short -- I simply couldn't finish dinner!

Eating alright.. Had to do some extra foodie stuff today, just hope I can stay out of it. Got family coming down tomorrow.

Got my kitchen floor mopped and some other "domestic chores" done. Didn't go out to walk because it's 88 degrees outside!! I can't do that anymore, although there was a time when it wouldn't have bothered me much....

Yesterday, I got to work outside and finish up. emoticon
I lost a half pound, even after a High Calorie Day in my Cycle! emoticon
And I finished my packing list for camping, and I got rid of some out-grown clothes! emoticon

Some how, there are days that you can be working hard ALL day and nothing seems to get done, but then all of a sudden, everything gets done all at once on a different day. It's like your work finally catches up to you and gives you the results you've been working for!

-Yesterday was Sunday and again I went to Mass, then worked outside, making the patio and walkway look nice -- we are having a visitor soon. I am pleased with my progress!
-I re-lost 2 pounds emoticon

I worked outside in the sunshine and made the patio look nice again. Satisfaction for a job well-done!

I stayed very close to my Very Low Cal (cycle) Diet Day. It normally takes 3 days of hard effort to lose the results of one meal's indulgence... and it has been only 2 days, so I am working hard.

And I did my PT exercises!

Yesterday, I lost 1.4 pounds! I was down to my lowest weight in 4 years! I celebrated with a friend last night with an evening at the museum. I ate WAY too much, even though I made good choices. You CAN eat too much even on Atkins! Those carbs might be few in LC foods, but the numbers add up! In my case, I WAY over-indulged! This morning, I was up 2.6 pounds. Sigh emoticon emoticon
So I guess ANOTHER good thing I did yesterday was learn my lesson!

went shopping and bought myself a few clothes -- IN A SMALLER SIZE!

ANOTHER day of staying on target with my diet and hitting all my goals! I am starting to feel in control! And I lost ANOTHER pound! Woo Hoo!

Also, I re-started PT with a new therapist -- who listened carefully to my goals. She gave me entirely new exercises to do, and I am sore after the first day! ...never been so pleased to be sore!

Yup, its the rainy season here too. Every day it clouds up very darkly and then I watch the clouds pass over and rain somewhere else.... We need the rain HERE!

Yesterday, I did extremely well at staying on my diet. I hit ALL my targets for the day! And I did my at-home exercises. And I lost 1/2 a pound.

It IS a bit of a drag to return from vacation. I'm glad you are focusing on the positive, WHITNEY! We here on this thread have all found that it makes a difference in our lives. Of course, it takes practice... so most of us post something DAILY that helps us reflect upon how we are acting to take control of our lives and DO something good for ourselves. (although this season, postings are reduced for some reason....) I'm glad you are here, and I hope you'll post daily. I tend to post about what I did "yesterday" because I am generally able to get on the computer only in the mornings.

I wrote a positive blog. I just got back from a 3 week vacation and am having a really hard time getting back into the swing of things. My blog yesterday kind of showed that, I was feeling restless and a little depressed, one of my Spark Friends said she thought it was "vacation lag" and I think probably she's right. I'm doing better today. Maybe things will get back to normal soon, I hope so.

The usual on Sunday... went to Mass... but it was Father's Day, so I cooked 2 nice dinners for DH and kids --which I didn't get to eat! It was a LC day, and DH hadn't fully told me of his day's plans, so my eating and their eating was just "off" all day. My choices kept me very full -- so full for the first time EVERRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrr I didn't finish dessert!

I exercised and wore myself out! Don't be impressed -- my endurance is practically nothing!
