I take the stairs too! I just started the "Spring into Shape" Team here on Spark and the daily videos are 10 minutes everyday and really quite doable! Try it you will like it! If you can complete the 4 weeks you get a Spark Trophy! LOL! But I am finding that I usually can do 10 minutes a day! If I can't then I double up the next day. emoticon

I am working part time and in an EP Lab so most days I get up and exercise before work 0545 to 0600 quick shower and off to work. If I wait until after work I often just don't go! The other trick that worked for a friend of mine she brings here workout bag into work with her and does not go home until she has worked out, the hungrier she is the faster she gets to the gym! LOL!
In this job I do not work weekends so I am making a point to go Sat and Sundays to our local YMCA, classes on Saturday are fun and I like the people there, on Sundays its treadmill and pool. Make it work! Right? We need to be an example to our patients about prioritizing fitness emoticon

I am having a hard time finding the time and motivation to exercise. Last pay period I worked 128 hours. The ER is always short and I need the money. I have no kids and I have been trying to be pay back my student loans. On my days off, I sleep till noon and have no motivation or desire to exercise.

I work 3-12hr nights in a row, with a four hr shift once a week but during the day. My body does not know when it is suppose to sleep or eat. lol But I have the time at work to get on a treadmill for 5-10 minutes workouts. Thank goodness. So, I do. But, I have a problem getting motivated on my days off.

I am feeling so disorganized. I've been filling in on night shift for the past week or so. I have only gotten out to run once. I hope to get out and run some time this morning.
I'll be glad to get back on a regular schedule again!

Maybe I'm a light-weight, but a good part of the reason I left the hospital and went to the clinic was so I could have a life. And it's STILL hard to fit it all in. I have 2 hours free each day on my 8 hr/day schedule, and I have to fit housework, eat a meal, do whatever, and go to bed at 2100. I've decided to stop reading the newspaper so I can get in a walk.

I guess we've all been there.
Before I got into nursing, I ran almost every morning. Then there was nursing school and night shift and, well you all know how it goes.
Like most of you, I just got to the point where I just had to do something.
I started taking the dog for longer walks until he started to refuse. Then I was able to start running again.
It is tough trying to fit exercise into an ever-changing schedule. It takes planning!

walkinggrandma---I almost died laughing at the thought of "lunch" emoticon I honestly dont get a 30 min lunch..I have started to "run" down the hall tho...esp if we are slow or if I have patients on both sides of of our unit...I wish I had a treadmill then I could run when I got home..at least for 30 min...hoping longer days makes this a bit easier for me soon....

SHUT UP, GET OVER IT, AND JUST DO IT!

I do know people who work out after work, and some do during lunch, but lunch has never been a possibility for me. I work on my days off and that gives me at least 3 days a week. The eight hour days can easily lend themselves to a work out.

Start with what you think you can reasonably do. You can then change and adjust your fitness goals so you an fit in a small workout on your work days and a longer workout on the other days.
