Last time I shopped I stocked up on lentils. Sometimes the small bags of dried lentils seem priced too high, but this time the price was a tad better.

I have to stock up on some things in case we get snowed in. It can get very icy here.

It's a good idea to stock up, Pam. We have awful weather sometimes, too, very deep snow and ice, that prevents us from going out. Every month I buy gallon jugs of water to store, juices, and powdered milk.

Be hopeful. Feel optimistic about succeeding.

I have been doing some earthquake preparedness. I bought water, cereal, powdered milk, granola bars, trail mix, soup, shelf stable Indian food, juice boxes, individual containers of apple sauce, all sorts of canned beans, crackers, peanut butter, jelly. I froze some bread and tortillas which will hopefully last a week after they are defrosted.

The almond butter and cashew butter have become essentials on my shopping lists. During the Autumn I buy apple cider and pop corn.

Yes, we are robbed at the grocery store when we buy bar soaps, too. Does the cost of living increase encourage prices to go up?

I got my shopping for the week done. Our country grows so many apples that I feel robbed paying 50 cents for one. emoticon

I budget food for the month and boil it down to food for each week's shopping. My soap, gas, cat food & litter, each have their own budgeted amount.

Be hopeful. Feel optimistic about succeeding.

I take a list and keep track of the cost of each thing so I know it fits into my tight budget. I put a few supplements on my food budget.

Got my shopping done. The jars of fruit, instead of cans, are a bit expensive but I got a few in case of snow storms keeping Mr. Santa and I in.

Be hopeful. Feel optimistic about succeeding.

I need to learn to buy in smaller quantities, both so I know what I have, and so things don't get stale/rancid. I always have beans and grains around, because they're the foundation of my diet (McDougall Program) and if I don't have cooked starches around, I make bad food choices.

SInce I started on the McDougall Maximum Weight Loss program (MWL), my food budget has gone down by about half. MWL is mostly unprocessed starches (potatoes, sweet potatoes, brown rice, beans, etc.) and that stuff is comparatively dirt-cheap.

DH (Daryl) and I have a tight budget. Healthy shopping is important because, otherwise, money is spent on medicines.

We have been buying whole grains...whole wheat, fine flour, cornmeal; need to re-stock on tree nuts and seeds.

Be hopeful. Feel optimistic about succeeding.
