I have the cookbook "The Joy of Vegan Baking" where this recipe comes from. I've tried many of the recipes and have never found one I didn't like including the blueberry muffins. These really do look lovely.

I took a giant step closer to vegan. I made blueberry muffins ... without an egg. This was my first attempt at baking without an egg. The muffins are lovely!

Hello! Yes, I am doing well despite the fact I was diagnosed with cervical cancer recently. My appetite is not as good and I so what I have been eating has been foods that will build me up...lots of good organic fruits, vegetables, grains and nuts. In the mornings I have more energy so I do most of my food prep then (and housework and errands). In the evenings I am tired and rarely eat...maybe fresh juice. I have lost nearly 11 pounds since Thanksgiving. I will be starting chemo and radiation treatments soon. I have good support and my trust is in God to see me through each step of the way. Wishing everyone success in reaching their healthy goals.

Hello gang! I hope everyone had a nice Christmas. My holiday was decent. I even tried a new recipe ~~ roasted broccoli and chickpeas with mixed greens. It was decent, but I think it would have tasted better if it had been warm. By the time we ate, it was cold.

Hi all,

The update to Dr. Greger’s Daily Dozen application for Android became available today. The google play store says the application was updated on Dec. 9, the day before his book became available. I have been checking for it every day and it became available today. I am not sure if it is up on Apples App Store for iphones yet or not.

The application has a new weight loss mode and has a list of 37 checkboxes for all of his 21 tweaks. For instance, preloading your meals with water or negative calorie foods. And getting your daily dose of black cumin, garlic powder, ginger, nutritional yeast, cumin, green tea. When you click on the icon next to the description of the tweak, a screen comes up with more information describing the tweak.

I checked of 23 out of 37 tweaks today. Dr. Greger reccomends exercising before breakfast after fasting at least 6 hours. I have never done this and want to try it. Also, I eat my meals too quickly. Dr. Greger reccommends taking at least 20 minutes to finish each meal.

I love Dr. Greger. I do have his How Not to Die Book and am going to borrow that one from the library when I can.+ oh btw there is a long line ahead as it has about 19 holds on it at library. I got the cookbook out a couple of times too-pretty good.

Hi all!

Have you heard about Dr. Greger’s new book, How Not to Diet? Dr. Greger did youtube video about highlights from his book. It is: youtu.be/EpRrD58Ah3Q It is fascinating! I am near my goal weight and don’t want to lose more than 5 pounds, but my mom has health problems and wants to lose about 10 pounds. So I am dieting with her. Plus I am the cook.

Dr Greger has diet tweaks that I have never heard of before. He recommends “preloading” your meals with soup or salad or veggies that are lower than 100 calories per cup. He has also researched spices that help burn fat. He recommends before each meal:
2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar
Black cumin ¼ tsp
Garlic powder ¼ tsp
He also recommends daily
Ground ginger 1 tsp or cayenne pepper ½ tsp
Nutritional yeast 2 tsps.
Cumin ½ tsp
Green tea 3 cups

Black cumin is different from common cumin. I ordered some from amazon and it arrives in a few days. I am preloading with 1 cup Garden Patch tomato/vegetable juice from Trader Joes with the apple cider and the garlic powder.

He also talks about the Keto diet. People on this diet burn less fat and more protein, that is lean body mass. Also overall mortality is increased.

I highly recommend viewing his video.

its so easy to fall off track but every single time i get back on i always wonder...why in the world i am even tempted because the whole foods are just so much tastier and make me feel so much happier and healthier. it must be a habit due to years of eating the sad diet right? one of these days i will keep on track and stay there lol

I'm being haunted by Halloween candy. They are not my favorites but I'm eating them. After dinner. I can walk by those little guys all day long and ignore them. I can even arrange them so they look pretty on the tray on the counter, and not be tempted. But after dinner, it's another story and my resistance is shattered. Night time horrors! For me, it's about "a routine". After breaking from a good routine even for a short amount of time, it's hard to get back into the good routine but easy to fall back into bad habits.

I just enjoyed a nice 4-day-weekend. I really enjoyed the time off. I was able to spend an afternoon with my boyfriend ~~ a nice day of hiking and time in the pool. I also got to have some extra family time, which I always love! Lastly, I was very productive ~~ get plenty of housework done along with a few other things.

I have to say I am so excited! I found vegan marshmallows and graham crackers. The other night was date night. My boyfriend and I made Smores. They were so yummy! I used a vegan peanut butter cup for the chocolate. It was like heaven in my mouth. emoticon

Hey everyone, I'm back! I was supposed to be gone until the 29th on maternity leave but my work sent me an email telling me my leave was miscalculated and I needed to return today instead. I am sad - it was really hard leaving baby at the daycare this morning. I have absolutely loved staying home with him and if it were possible I'd want to do it full-time, but it will probably be good for me to get talking with adults again, lol.

And not to mention exercising again. It's been so HOT that I haven't taken him out in the stroller so I gained 69lbs during my pregnancy, then another 9lbs after. I started slow in the gym this morning with the recumbent bike and my legs ached and I was dripping sweat, but I felt so good after. I hadn't even realized how much I missed working out. I am going to keep it slow this week, with machines and short miles, but I am going to try to up it a bit next week. I'm also going to sub for an injured coworker in yoga. Gotta get rid of this baby weight! Hopefully it comes off quickly. I am sure it's stuck on mostly due to my being so sedentary with baby and kitty snuggles the last 8 weeks.

My school leave ends on August 5th and I start my comprehensive exams. From what I've read it's 8 weeks to write 4 12-page papers on currently unknown subjects. It's going to be hard, but if I pass then I am in the dissertation phase - so close to being done with school! Then I'll be Doctor GoodFeline!

August 4th is our anniversary, or what I consider our true anniversary - it's when my husband and I began dating, and our original wedding date (before I moved it to be sooner because of MIL). We'll have been together 17 years this year. We can't really afford to do anything special, but maybe I can convince my hubby to grab a $5 Hot n Ready pizza from Little Caesar's and pull up a movie on Netflix.

I love camping but I've been doing it since I was a child. I do use an air mattress. While I use a tent, I cannot sleep on the ground. Too hard! Hoping to go for a couple days this coming week.

well! I completely looked over the toddler part!
btw- so glad I am not a grandma yet- might happen..might not- I do have 4 kids ages 27-22-but when and if good reason to be strong too-to keep up with grandkids!

I have a 3 person dome tent-not a special easy to put up one -they do sell those not sure what the difference is but I have no problem at all. Easy peasy. And you could be right - just like having life be simple- wake-eat breakfast- hike-if hike to lake -swim-hike lunch-NAP(which I never do at home)wake-hike-supper-read-sleep-repeat.

I could see living my life this way

This site does have a coin operated shower.

Anywyay- I want to look into backpack camping which I guess is a whole other thing. Hike or maybe bike.

Off to a party today- made a beet and white bean dip.
