The thing I've discovered works: Logging all my food. Most days I graze until dinner (to keep the blood sugar happy instead of having larger meals), and if I don't log it I forget what I've had! Some days I write it in my Filofax but have better results when I use Spark's log.

And measuring rocks! Some weeks I lose inches rather than pounds.

Glad about the career sorry about having to share him with the the military. My brother is in the Navy and he got back from 6 months at sea the Wedneday before Christmas. It's a real lifestyle change. Think of it as focus/regroup time for you. I love your Drew pics. I am a big fan of hers. Good luck with the New Year. I think everyone is ready to get started.

Hey thanks for the compleiment!!!!!!

(Sorry it has taken so long to respond I was AWOL for holiday)

I am stuck now at 220 to 215 but then agian I really havent been excercising or logging my food so I am sure when i start that I will begin to lose agian!

I have just been under a lot o stress due to Thomas being out of work and then finding work but the work he found is devestating to me (he joined the Army) so he is leaving me for 21 weeks and 3 days January 16th! Kind of depressing but I am so excited about being out of the mundane pay check to pay check life!!!!!!! At least this is a step into a GREAT career. Any way I am back for a while to get my eating BACK under control so I hope to hear some wild X-mas stories and some kick a$$ sucess stories!

So a few more words I'M BACK!!!!!!!! LOL

I was getting pretty frustrated at being at 210 to 205 for months but I went down a dress size in November so I must be losing inches and not weight. Does anyone else measure?

You guys need to go check out the new pic I added. I was digging through my SKINNY clothes to see what fit and found an outfit I wore for a pic that was teaken in 2005 I photoshopped that pic with a pic of me in the same outfit yesterday. I remeber the outfit being SO uncomfortable in the picture and I could not even button the shirt over my ta-ta's now it just HANGS there LOL!

shelly that is so great! You just gave me some ambition to jump on the elliptical and get it done today. I've been dragging tired the last few days but that's because of the schedule change. I'll be sure to read your other post for the details....yes, don't give up, never get tired of hearing that.

I'm moving about finely.
Keeping very active running and bicycling. I've been consistent on my strength training and adopted a more serious stretching routine cause my legs were starting to bug me.

My best piece of advice, DON'T GIVE UP!!!

Gammy, I just saw your tattoo, that is a kick ass tattoo!!!!!! You deserve it! Now I want my tattoo that I've been meaning to get for 3 years...

I am getting a tattoo of Dimebag Darrell when i hit the 200 lbs mark!

I love Metallica as well but there is something about the way dime thrashed that guitar that kept me coming back to Pantera for more to bad I never got a chance to see him play it!

Okay. I passed the week mark and nada, didn't move a bit. It's getting easier to keep up with my numbers thanks to the 5 veg/fruits a day. My sugar intake is lower than it was, sweets are my downfall. Lately I've been cutting up an apple into pieces, adding dried cranberry, walnuts and about a teaspoon of cream cheese, mixing well and sweet tooth is gone. How is everyone doing?

argh! I looked at the scale. Dopey. So here I am doing research on BMR and trying to calculate what I'm supposed to be eating and what I burn and blah! I really think I'm undereating here...does anyone have a helpful site where you can see the details? May be have one of those built in calculators where you just fill in the blanks? If I haven't been losing because I'm not eating enough food....I've got a feeling....

Babel, way to go with your plans for a new day! Good luck with the weather!

Recently, I took a good hard look at my whole diet plan to figure out the stickiness I seem to be suffering and decided I really need to concentrate on not going over on my max calories. I already do pretty good with my workouts so staying under the max is the one thing I feel I can start with working on to get unstuck. I will keep you all posted as to how that is working!

(giving yourself 2 weeks is a good idea)

Yesterday, bad day for me. No exercise and went over on calories. New day today. Eating right and getting some strength training in. Maybe a bike ride if the rain lets us.

I can't believe how well its going. Last night slacked a bit but still I'm on a record compared to what I was doing. I'm keeping up with the water and the exercise but I'm terrified to go near the scale. I figure I'll give myself 2 weeks of the 1500 and then take a look....I wonder if I should get a new scale....if this doesn't work I need to see if I should go up or down in calories. How's the recording going Erinstar?

I've been in my calorie range all weekend.
I've done cardio for the last two weeks and just missed 4 days, plus strength training and I only lost a pound. If this keeps going on till next week I think I might hit a plateau soon.

Okay Babel I took your advice about the honest part and well well. The last couple of days have been a real eye opener. I'm eating over what I'm supposed to be doing. I tend to pick, not all bad food but it was adding up. Argh! I've got to get into the habit of recording everything! I've been feeling a little run down like Gammy did so I researched what foods are good for the brain and what foods give you the vitamins you need for the day, gee there was the 5 fruits/veggies a day so I'm going to add this to my list. Here's the article if you want to look but it's probably info you already knew....I always did tend to miss the obvious.

Well, I have gone back to the beginning so to speak. I am just concentrating on what I am eating for now. I will add more exercise back in later on. I think I was so busy and stressed trying to get so many projects done and eat right and exercise and life in general that I was eating under and then eating way over because I would miss a snack or lunch (or just have it late) and be so hungry from the high activity level that I would eat too much or the wrong thing or what ever.
Any......... way............... I have been within my range for the last three days. First goal is calorie range until 9-4. Then on to a new goal.

Gammy, emoticon emoticon on breaking your plateau! How strange though, it seems working that hard you would've been melting.

Erinstar, good luck on the tracking and remember be truthful!

Well let's see:

Yesterday I ate 1,208 calories.
It was suppose to be up to 1,400 calories but I forgot my late snack!

And I burned 510 calories (on my run with my heart rate monitor). And about 50-60 more on a walk.

(I've only done cardio 3 times this week)

I also have been eating 5 servings of fruits and vegetables for the past 4 days because of a challenge.

I really don't limit my carbs or anything like that, I just eat mostly non-processed food. Oh and I only eat fish once in a while. And I love cheese so my calcium intake is pretty high.

Today I have logged in 714 calories until lunch time and plan to do some strength training and be around 1350 calories. (mid range)

I weigh in on Tuesday so I'll let you know how I did.

Honestly, if I want to lose something I have to do major cardio today and tomorrow to reach my calorie burnt goal.

I really don't know where I'm going with this. I just have to find a way to post my progress and such more tidy.

Thank you Babel, there is one less excuse..hahah. I don't run. I tried but may be you're right, may be besides tae bo I can do a walk/run kind of thing. I have to watch it though because I get drained.

Jeeze Teesgammy when you get started you get started. I'm truly glad for you. You know I have to say I don't keep a close eye the things you mentioned...may be this has been getting in my way? How many calories are you burning a day now? See this is what I need! Keep me posted and I'll do the same.

Oh and so far so good on the tracking. Hot damn!

Okay fellow Rockers! I have had a bit of a break through!

I did a lot of thinking and thinking and thinking....you get the point. For the last couple of months (or more) I have been pushing myself. I have been totally obsessed with exercise. Some days I would be getting in 2+ hours of cardio. I was eating on the high side of my calories because I knew that my body needed them because of my obsessive exercise routines.

Well, I just stayed the same as far as weight is concerned. I kept thinking that I just needed to try harder, work harder etc. I was so hungry and tired all of the time. It has been so frustrating!

I went back to square one. I have cut back on the exercise and I am eating in the middle range of my calories (making sure that my carbs, protein, fat and fiber levels are also in the middle range), and low and behold-I lost 2 lbs. last week!

hmmm...the recommendations that Spark makes really do work! I have been here for almost 10 months and I have lost 80 lbs.-Why am I just re-figuring this out?

With all of that said, ON WITH THE JOURNEY!

NEXT...

Hugs,
Gammy

Erinstar, to answer your recipe question:
you go to sparkrecipes.com
if you are already logged on in here, you don’t need to over there.
You’ll see some tabs, click the one that says “my Recipe Box”.
There, you can store all your recipes and share them with everyone else.

To log in all the ingredients so you can calculate the calories, there will be a link there that says “click here to use the Recipe Calculator”. just click and the rest is self explanatory.

I think you’d solve your dilemma if you started tracking those calories. Granted, you don’t have to track calories forever. Just long enough that in the future you can perfectly eyeball the correct amount of food to eat. And don’t be too weary of a specific range of calories, you have to find the range that best fits you. I was eating too little at first. After that, I increased how much I worked out. When I went to another site to punch in the numbers, I got a range of 1600-1900 calories! Well I went for it and gained. In many months I found my perfect range to be 1300-1400 with an occasional splurge of 100-200 extra calories. I know that’s just too much numbers and tracking and stuff but I think it can really get you going again. Just until like I said, you learn to eye-ball it.

As for the running, are you on a running program? Running can be very enjoyable but most people push themselves to early and too hard. I started with a combination of running and walking.

Good luck on the taebo (did I spell that right).

And I can track what I did right and wrong during the day, that’d be cool.

It's never too little but I tend to make things or just blow off recording what I'm eating. According to Spark I'm supposed to eat 1200-1550. I went to some other sites and did all the Math on some or punched in the necessary numbers and it looks to be about 1500-1700. I hate having to put in every single calorie but in order to find the right number that makes me start to shed? All I know is I've been at this number for...a year? I'm trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong. I'm hoping this Taebo will help because I really feel it afterwards. Just don't like the running. I wish I liked the running. It seems to be making a difference. I'm going to have to pick one thing I Know I'm not doing well with (tracking)and see if I can earn a point everyday. If I'm lucky I'll pull a seven when it's done. If anyone wants to do that or just post their progress on improvement or problems during the week...this would be good. Start when you would like. I've already screwed up today because I went out to eat and have no way to record what was on my plate. Tomorrow morning I go....

Ahh... The old closet ploy, I do enjoy a good closet ploy .

Erinstar, when you mean calories do you mean you eat fewer than what you're suppose to or do you pass the limit.

(oh I'm game for the challenge)

What's worked for me: losing the focus on losing weight and set a bigger goal..running. I wasn't losing any weight and once I started concentrating on my running...lo and behold I'm 20 pounds lighter.

Also, mixing up the calories I take in. I don't stick around the high end-or the low end. I mix it up. Some days (when I burn lots of calories) I eat on the low end, others when I get lazy legs and don't do jack squat I eat on the low and others right on the middle.

Oh, and calcium, fiber and protein I track those like crazy.

I was hoping you'd come around Shelly and congrats. I hope it rubs off..(comes off falls off shoots off and disappears ) Only where do I do this? On the recipe thing? You would think that as long as I've been here I would know this by now?

Boobalee I can handle the swimming. In fact, I see a difference tone wise, just a little bit oh man but the running. Don't like the running. (Unless something is chasing) I'm now motivated to get to my Taebo. So far, it's kicking my ass. This is a good thing. As for calories...I wonder, does it really have to be that perfect? For me it seems to matter. Here's to 1aughing more with less to jiggle! Thanks everyone for showing up...its so very much appreciated!

I was stuck for months and mean MONTHS. I was running Every bloody day and getting on the scales and NOTHING very frustrating. So stopped running and started swimming, 2 weeks later the scale moves just a little and it stayed that way for another month so I went back to running and straight away lost a large amount. So what I'm doing now is everytime I lose a bit of weight I change my cardio routine from running to swimming.

If you are preparing your own recipe and want to know the nutritional value, you can enter the recipe ingredients as if you are going to submit it-and it will tell you.

hahaha only! Sounds like you don't need to go look to exercise, you're already doing it! Isn't that funny? I figure when we finally get down to the dream of living on the farm I'm going to be at the end of the day going..."Oh I'm too tired to do that exercise tape...Doh! hahaha

I'm so glad to see you and Gammy, thanks for showing up. Gammy I love that picture you have on there, good vibes. It will be nice getting to know you. Okay so what did you do to get through the plateaus before? What screws me up the most is making something on my own and having no idea how to count it and just saying screw it, I'll count tomorrow.

Ahh... The old closet ploy, I do enjoy a good closet ploy .

my LIFE in general is getting in my way. Seems the last 6 months have been overwhelmingly busy and stressful. Try as I might, I've just not been able to get back in the swing of things and having trouble finding time to shop and cook properly let alone time to do "official" exercise. I am having trouble forcing myself to interrupt big projects such as painting the inside the house, painting the exterior of the house, major yard work, helping my son move (which involved carrying stuff up or down three flights of stairs) in order to go walk or go to Curves. Things have just started to settle down some. Projects are almost completed (at least what I can do this summer), so it is time to make myself the next project!

I'm with ya! All along my journey I have been pretty satisfied with my results. NOW all of the sudden I am so-o-o stuck on this plateau.

I have helped others through their plateaus and I have made it through a couple of my own. This time is different. It's pretty damn frustrating! The only thing that I can think of is maybe I'm not actually counting all of my calories correctly.

All I know is that I AM NOT GIVING UP!

Hugs,
Gammy

I've been stuck here at this weight for too long so its time to do something. Anyone who would like to post on what is working, what isn't working, what worked once or what never works or what worked for your sister's friend's brother. Just slap in a reply;)

I'm going to start with what is getting in my way the most and that is my calorie count. So I'll check in here a couple times a week to bore you with details of how its going. Anyone who wants to join me is realllllly welcome? Don't make me do this alone!!!!
