Hi Linda - Thank you for writing with your questions. No I have not had c. diff - but was hospitalized with MRSA sepsis. I had mega doses of many antibiotics until they found the right one. It's awful and scary. My body hasn't been the same since. I'm using hospital strength antiseptic wash to cleanse my whole body hoping an infection won't recur.

I looked up c. diff and found this article from the Mayo Clinic: www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-
conditions
/c-difficile/symptoms-causes
/syc-2
0351691

It's a lot of information, but I hope you find something that helps you.

I am very thankful that they found what would help you before. Believe me, I know you don't want to do that again.

emoticon Blessings.

Hi team I am feeling tried today I think yesterday I did too much.
CJ you are right about C Diff how do you know that? all I know is it gives me the most dreadful smelling diarrhoeal and the worst thing I have no control of, it has put me in hospital unconscious on life support ,once, and I hope never again. I hope, and apparently I am a carrier, that is all I know, do you know what causes it? And is it the same symptoms for everyone? Sorry about all the questions but I cannot find out any thing about it
I hope you all had a great day

Hello CC's - Our temperatures are back down into the 80's which feel more like summer to me.
I chair danced this morning to Glenn Miller's Band! What fun to start the day with "In the Mood".

I did a lot of driving on the freeway today. That can be a problem for me when the sun is bright. At freeway speed there is a flicker - which can set off a migraine for me. So I spent the afternoon resting and it went away. My funny cure is: ice pack on my neck and heat on my feet. I usually go to sleep which helps a lot, too.

Linda - I am so sorry you are struggling with C diff. That is so debilitating. I hope you continue to feel better. Wow - I bet your hair is gorgeous. What a feel-good thing to do for yourself.

Hope - Glad you were able to see Lion King. It is just opening here. Thanks for the recommendation.

Char - I imagine you are feeling relieved now that the meds are calming down your poison ivy. And you are getting your new goats. I want to hear more about them - I've always thought they were cute. We have a local group that will rent out their full size goats to help people clear their fields. Seems like a win-win for everyone.

Hello Conscious Connoisseurs! I had a quiet day today. This morning I ran some errands, and later my mother and I worked on a jigsaw puzzle. Other than that, I just did stuff around the house. I havent exercised yet, but I plan to in a few minutes.

Char Im glad your poison ivy is better. Wow, 15 days with no food or water is a long time. Bless you for taking care of her. Im glad you worked it out to get your goats. Youll have to show us pictures of them when you get them.

Linda I hope you enjoy your new hair color and your fun new shoes!

CJ The art class sounds fun. Thats nice that your library offers that. Im glad youre feeling better, and that Stephanies PT is helping.

Linda my goodness we sound like soul sister bright red hair pink fun shoes! A girl after my own heart. The only thing you need is a pet unicorn and you’re set! Lol! Love it! Glad you had a good day

CJ wow! I can’t even draw a stick person! Beautiful. I love butterflies. I like to believe they’re visitors from heaven. Glad Stephanie’s therapy is helping

Hope choir practice cracking the whip again huh? My poison ivy is much better. 4th day of prednisone. Just a scratch or itch here and there. Everything is started to dry up. Yay!

Well our hospice resident has lasted 15 days no food or water. Vital signs stable and now has not voided since Saturday. I have no clue what’s keeping her alive. Her sister and nephew both died on the same day last week. Her husbands bday came and went. We’re all scratching our heads. We’ll continue to love her till her time comes it’s just so amazing.

Well I made the deal last night and should be picking up my new family members Sunday or Monday night. 2 four month old female Nigerian Pygmy goats :) oooh I’m so excited!

Hello Friends - Stephanie and I had fun at a free art class at our library. We learned how to draw butterflies and all sorts of colored pencil techniques to color them. It was great to learn from an experienced artist. I did a Japanese Peacock Swallowtail. I couldn't get my scanner to copy the one I drew so here is the picture I worked from:

My GERD symptoms are almost gone. Yay! I'm doing well with eating slower.
Monday is PT for Stephanie. It seems to be helping her.

Hello Conscious Connoisseurs! This morning my choir sang at three church services (we usually only sing at one). It made for a long morning. For my exercise today I did a Walk Away the Pounds video. I hope all of you had a good Sunday!

Hello Conscious Connoisseurs! Today we went to see the new Lion King movie. It was very enjoyable. The audience even clapped when it was over. The computer animation (if thats the right term for it) was amazing. This morning I got up early and went for a walk. Heres something pretty I saw while I was walking:

Char How is your poison ivy doing? I hope its better.

Linda My goodness, Im sorry you were so sick. Take care of yourself.

CJ I hope you had a good day.

Hello Conscious Connoisseurs! My excitement today was buying a new laptop! My old one had lots of problems, including being very slow and also freezing up fairly often. I was able to find a laptop that was on sale, plus I got it tax-free, so I saved some money. Every year Alabama has a tax-free weekend in the summer for school supplies, and computers are included, so I waited until this weekend to buy it. I spent a while this afternoon setting it up.

Char Im sorry your poison ivy is so bad. I hope the prednisone helps. Our choirs next concert will be for Christmas.

CJ No, were not doing handbells during the summer. We will start back up in August or September. Sorry Stephanies interview didnt go as planned. Did she think the conference call went well?

Linda I hope you are doing well.

Hi Conscious Connoisseurs,

I'm sorry to do this, but I'm not able to participate as much as I'd like this go-round. I'm withdrawing from the challenge, but hope to see you when you post blogs, etc. Best of luck!

CJ I’ve had a Skype interview once. It was weird. Yeah it’s funny how it ended up. It’s been humid. Today is less so I even turned off the AC. But I have a bit of the chills.

Hope it’s good that you got a bit of a break from rehearsals . When’s your next big concert?

Linda hope all is well

Yes hospice resident still hanging on. Mostly sleeping peacefully. I am miserable with the poison ivy. It’s spreading. My inner thigh is swollen and blistered. My abdomen itchy. I have to wear a dress. Been doing witch hazel to dry it, hydrocortisone for itching, Motrin and ice for swelling and discomfort. My provider ordered prednisone today. Ughhh hopefully better tomorrow

Hello Friends - We are having high humidity and stuffy air. I start sweating the minute I step outside. I'm exercising indoors these days - mostly chair yoga and lots of stretches.

Stephanie's interview was hilarious. First, she got everything set-up and ready and tested the picture on Skype so it would show her nifty science coffee mug and her special "interview" sweater. Then, when the time came, the Skype wouldn't work. She didn't have a phone number for them so she had to wait until they called. They tried to fix the Skype and nothing worked so they ended up having the interview by conference call. AND the irony is that this is Virtual Academy - you know, the one which is based on technology. LOL

I ate two meals with conscious awareness and slow chewing. Then I sort of forgot all about it.

Char - oh my, poison ivy. How you must be itching to scratch (ooooh - sorry about the pun).
I'm praying for your hospice patient to be able to pass gently. I'm remembering my mom -- I couldn't believe how she clung to life in her last weeks. I was very thankful she could be at home with a hospice nurse. You are an amazing lady.

Hope - Sounds like it is nice to have a bit of a break from lengthy choir rehearsals. Are you also doing bells during the summer? Glad you were able to follow along with the bridge group. I've always learned a lot by watching what others do.

Linda - thinking of you. Blessings

Hello Conscious Connoisseurs! Tonight I went to choir practice. We had a big Fourth of July concert (which involved lots of extra rehearsals), so our director is only making us practice once this month. It has been nice to have a break from practicing, Our rehearsal tonight was only an hour, too, and we usually practice longer than that.

Char Im so sorry you have poison ivy! I hope the itching isnt too bad.

CJ Thats great that youre feeling so much better. I hope Stephanies Skype interview went well. Im sorry they are not going to fill that other job.

Linda I hope you had a good day.

CJ that’s sad they aren’t going to fill the teaching position so that means the kids just go without learning? Even a little points is better than none . I am glad you are feeling better.

Hope yeah just 5 . It is nice . I really have gotten attached. I don’t know how a person wouldn’t though. Our hospice resident is going on day 12 with no food or liquids. It’s really quite amazing. She still opens her eyes and tracks when you talk to her.

Linda good job on the points! I’m going to have to look up Stag. Even my husband doesn’t know what it is. Now that I’ll have to write down LOL

Have a good night all!
I’m trying to keep from itching I have poison ivy from face to inner thigh (have no idea how this happened) but here I am yay!

Hello Friends - I feel so much better. I slept a lot today - trying to catch up, I guess. We are trying to get used to having all of the house clean at the same time!! The kitchen looked so pristine - it was like in those picture perfect magazine ads. Then we started cooking - so now it looks lived in again. LOL

Stephanie has a Skype interview tomorrow morning. She found out that the last job she interviewed for (the one that is just down the road from us) isn't going to be filled. That's the second school district that has done that. Money is tight for everyone - they are looking for places to cut costs and having specialty teachers is one way they do it. sigh

I looked at my points and realized I don't have enough points to report for this last week. I'm off to a better start now so Week 3 should be better. I'm doing well with eating slowly. Yay!

Hello Conscious Connoisseurs! This afternoon my moms bridge group played bridge here at our house, so I watched them play. Other than that, I just had a quiet day here at home. Today I walked a little for my exercise.

Linda Im sure youll enjoy your Stag when you get it.

Char I didnt know that the home where you work only has 5 residents. That must be nice for you since you can spend more time with each individual.

CJ Im glad your pain has lessened, but Im sorry your stomach started reacting to the pain meds. I hope you were feeling better today.

CJ glad to hear you are feeling better. I have GERD I’m on Nexium for that but it doesn’t always help if I eat to much Spicy or acidic food. Also my IBS has been especially annoying as of late. I truly believe the change in barometric atmosphere has significant control over our bodies. It’s starting to rain again here.
I don’t know how much Stephanie would like on line teaching if she’s a face to face person. I hope she doesn’t settle. If she loves teaching no matter what then you learn to live with in the means of the pay. I took a pay cut with no benefits and I’m at work I think more than home but I love those people they’re like family so I make sure they’re taken care of and like any family you get some breaks from them. It’s like I have 2 homes. I’m not sure about the whole future of the job since it’s privately owned and only a 5 person home and the house needs a lot of upgrades/ repairs. But you can’t worry about what ifs. I left a job of 20 years with no certainty in life and got this. I believe everything works out the way it’s supposed to and I trust in God (sometimes it’s hard not to freak out though done that plenty of times) that almost never helped

Well I don’t work till 3pm so I have the morning to my self. Hello laundry, dishes, bathrooms and floors! Yup I’m an exciting girl!

Dear Friends -

Today was better. I'm not in so much pain which is a wondrous relief. Now my stomach is reacting to all the pain meds now. I woke up with GERD so I moved to the recliner so I could elevate my upper body. When acid splashes upward I get a sore throat and it's hard to swallow.
Being vertical helps a lot and I found the medication to help it calm down. Now it's just a dull ache and will probably be better tomorrow.

The lady came to do the floors and they look beautiful. She scrubbed the bathroom, too. My efforts have been minimal lately so it's great to have them thoroughly clean. What a blessing.

Char - Wow - you are really getting lots of storms. I hate it when the power goes out. I'm glad yours is back on. I hope things calm down and no one gets hurt. Stephanie appreciates your encouragement for her job search. She got another interview call today from an online school. It sounds very interesting -- but the pay scale sucks.
Sounds like the work you do is especially important. To be able to come along side people when they are so sick is a gift of love and kindness. It takes courage. I'm happy you can be there for your patients.

Linda - You are going through so much loss in these last years - and now more transitions! I'm glad to know that you will be okay financially with Steve working less. I'm sure you are looking forward to having more time together. I think I missed hearing about the Stag. What is yours like?

Hope - I'm glad you and your mom had a walking adventure at the mall. And you did ST too.
Good for you.

Yesterday we had another storm. I got home from work around 4pm. Let the dogs out. Wind started to pick up and knocked over the garbage can. I went to end of driveway got it and then it really kicked in started sprinkling by the time I let the dogs in it started coming down good and then in sheets and then it was like a monsoon! My grill flipped over flew across the deck took out my patio furniture. The neighbor across the street lost a tree. Work next door has branches and twigs everywhere. We lost power from 4pm till 10pm. Scott went and got our generator from storage after 3 hours as we lost power once before for 3 days and lost everything in our freezer. I was bored (which hardly ever happens) I went to bed by 8:30. We are supposed to get rain again tomorrow. Oh boy. We needed rain but for goodness sake already.

Hope I’m not sure I can wait an hour if I’m hungry unless it was Red Lobster. Nope never had a goat before. I’m excited. It was nice you got a walk in with your mom.

Linda it’s good that you can rent out your parents bungalow and they had a nest egg that you are able to invest. We just have 1 hospice resident. She was doing good, fell sprained her ankles, then had a couple strokes She’s been bedridden since Jan. Now her kidneys are shutting down. Believe me I’m definitely emotional. I sit in the room alone with her try and stay upbeat but the last 2 months she stopped speaking and it looks like she wants to talk some times and it makes me sad and I cry. She’s one of those people that has been a good person her whole life. It’s hard. We don’t usually have hospice it just turned out that way. It’s actually elderly assisted home specializing in dementia and Alzheimer’s.

CJ I’m sorry your dealing with a lot of pain and no sleep. Not a good combination. It’s awesome that Stephanie got someone to do your floors. It sucks she didn’t get the job. It’s good she still has the one to fall back on. The one she’s meant to have is out there. Tell her to have faith.

Have a good night all!

Hello Friends - Sorry I've been MIA - I've been in a lot of pain and unable to sleep. I'm exhausted but starting to feel better. I actually slept for 4 hours this afternoon! Yay! Stephanie has arranged for a lady to come do all our floors and scrub up the kitchen. That will be a real boon.
I"ll try to get caught up tomorrow.

On the job front: She found out she did not get the job she interviewed for. Every day we are thankful that she does have an interim job at the Justice Center until something else comes along.

Hello team! Today my mother and I went to the mall to walk. We walked for about half an hour. I also did some strength training today. The rest of the day I just did stuff around the house.

Linda - I’m glad that you and Steve are going to be okay with his job situation.

Hi,everyone thank you for your concern about Steve`s job we are going to rent my parents bungalow out so we will have a income from that, and Steve will have some part time work at the shop when it gets busy but he can say yes or no, The man who works with him is taking it over he is young with a young family he just cannot afford to pay Steve a full wage so we will have some money coming in also my parents were savers all their lives so we have their "nest egg" we will invest that so we have no finance worries we are lucky
@ Hope some meals out a worth waiting for
@ Char I can imagine how rewarding your work at the hospice can be but I could not do it I am to emotional

Hello Conscious Connoisseurs! Today I went out to lunch with my parents, my aunt, my sister, and my nephew. The first restaurant we went to said the wait would be ab hour and fifteen minutes, so we went somewhere else. We didnt have to wait long at all there, and we had a good meal.

Char That was sweet of you to spend so much time with the hospice resident today. I hope your electricity doesnt go out. Youre getting a pygmy goat? Wow, have you ever had a goat before?

Linda Im sorry you had such a hard day. Thats nice that your friends helped you. Im sorry about Steves job, too. Is he going to retire, or is he going to look for a new job?

CJ I hope you had a good day!

Hope- oh I love book sales. I could stay in a book store (in the used book section ) all day I swear. What a great bargain!

Linda I’m so sorry you had such heartache. It was so hard losing my Dad I can’t even bare the one thought of losing my mom. Hugs to you. I’m sorry Steve is losing his job. Hopefully it’s not a financial burden for you. I’m glad he’ll be able to spend more time with you. Everything happens for a reason we just don’t always know what that reason is but I hope that this turn of events is a very positive one for you.

Well it really started thundering and pouring outside about 15 minutes ago and the lights are flickering. I don’t know what’s up with our electric company but any time we get close to a bad thunder storm we lose power down our road. The wind was blowing like crazy 5 minutes ago by the time I thought I should tape this it quit. It took out the dish of coarse there’s a program I want to watch at 7pm so it has a half hour to get it together. Lol.
Well I went over to work to check on hospice resident with the intention of spending 15 minutes there. Well I woke her up because I could see her mouth was dry and she needed it swabbed. And then she stayed awake so I felt guilty leaving so I talked to her a bit. At 1st she looked pissed and after a while I just held her hand and let her music play and she relaxed. I keep telling her I’m the annoying neighbor. So I called the owner to see if she was going to visit after spending 2 hours there she said yes so I didn’t feel as guilty leaving. Oh well.
Well have a good night.
Oh I got the go ahead to go Pygmy goat. shopping! Yay!!!

Hello friends today finished on mixed emotions we finally emptied my parents bungalow with help from our friends and their trailer I do not know where we would be without their help, I feel blessed to have them as such good friends, we did it all in one trip this time ,We dropped the stuff at home , we all went for a meal. at a great pub we know when we got home I put my tv on, , Frank made me a coffee and I sat there sobbing for ages I suppose it is coming to the end of an era.
Also I have some more news I would like to share, Steve is finishing work at the start of next month his boss has money problems, . in some ways it is good news we can spend more time together, especially now as I am getting worse and we will be able to go out in the Stag to weekend meets and just enjoy life more, these past couple of years I have had enough heart ache to last a life time
@ Hope it is great to get a bargain right?
@ Char you must be dedicated to your job to go to work on your day off that is something I used to do

Hello Conscious Connoisseurs! The highlight of my day today was going to the bookstore. They were having a sale where you could get one book for a penny a page. So I got a 530-page book for $5.30! Thats really a bargain. Today for my exercise I did yoga and strength training.

Char You are really dedicated to your job to go in and work on your weekend off! Sorry your technology wasnt cooperating with downloading pictures of your dogs.

Linda Im sorry youve had a tiring week. I hope you are able to rest up this weekend.

CJ Im glad Stephanies interview went well. It sounds like she presented a good lesson.

Linda some times the weeks fly by. Usually it’s my time off that flies by. I hope your pain gets better. I know the extreme weather changes has been bad for my headaches which I have to stay on top of or they turn into really bad migraines.
Well it’s my weekend off and I already went to work on my own free will to put up an extra umbrella for shade for the ladies and clean out the little cottage next to the house. We’re planning a picnic and I cleaned it out and set up tables just in case the weather is bad then we can have it inside. It’s to hot to do much outside can’t sit around all day. Tomorrow will go to my cleaning job that takes 3 hours.
Well everyone have a good weekend!

Well I hope I got the link right for my blog. However now my kindle won’t let me download pics of my dogs. Grrr. My phone doesn’t even give me the option to download pics to my posts. But pics of my puppies are in my gallery. I swear it’s always something. And I don’t have any pics downloaded on my laptop and it’s to much of a pain to transfer with everything I need to do this weekend so there you are emoticon

Way to go mindful eaters!! Whoop! Whoop!

CJ I hope Stephanie gets the job. 15 minute commute would be awesome! I have to say when I’m really hungry I don’t have think about eating slow. It’s really something I have to work on.

Well I went out this morning and pulled weeds in my flower gardens, around the camper, propane tank, house, and some trees. Did some hoeing. After 2 hours sweat was just dripping. Was time to go in shower, finish laundry, do dishes and relax a bit before work tonight. Been awake since 5am so I’m a bit tired. Oh well I can sleep in tomorrow.
Well hope everyone has a good eve. Going to be a scorcher of a week. 90’s and high humidity

Hello Friends - the interview went well for Stephanie. She met with the principal and two associate principals and they did the strawberry DNA lesson. Stephanie said they seemed to have fun being able to do it "hands-on" and said encouraging things about her teaching. It will probably be at least Tuesday before she hears back from them. One of the good things about this middle school is that it is only about 15 minutes away. Sure beats and hour or more of a commute.

I'm back to more fibro pain. The weather jumped up to high heat and HIGH humidity. ugh.

I forgot to eat mindfully slow for most of my food today. But thinking back I realize now that I still ate slower. I think this is an important habit for me to practice so I will continue with it for my goal.
