My son got up this morning and did all of his chores without being told or asked to

"Man,I regret that workout!" said no one ever

Since my daughter started taking medication (she's now on 20 mg of Ritalin LA), we started getting positive feedback from her teacher. I got a note home where her grade in writing is going to improve from a C- to a B+ this last trimester, and during the second trimester, she went from an unsatisfactory in the behavior department to an excellent.

I know it's not just the meds, her therapist is great and we are learning, hour by hour to be more patient.

Today the girl needed a vaccine and she handled it like a CHAMP! Usually she turns ninja - screams, hits, kicks - scares everyone in the office and nearly made the doctor stick herself once. Today, none of that. She took it in stride knowing a dinner at her favorite restaurant was the reward for doing it right. I was sooooooooooo proud!!

My daughter is happily practicing the piano during today's snow day. No hassles, no arguments. :) She's also really embraced horse back riding lessons which is nice for her but also nice for me because the threat of no lesson the following week keeps her behavior right in line. :D

Christina slept in her own bed and snuggled her sister who was having a bad dream (I have to sleep on my own because of knee pain and even hubby is on the couch). This is a new record for us by the way, 3 nights in her own bed.

Nice, Teeny. Isn't it awesome when they learn more and help ease the load?

My 11 yo learned to cook oatmeal this morning. She has learned how to wash dishes, which is a great help. She is now interested in learning to sew.

My sweet daughter has been helping me stay off my feet after I injured myself last week. I got back on the healthy lifestyle wagon and overdid the exercise. Bummer too because I lost 5 lbs in the first week. But yeah, my daughter has helped pick up some of my load so I can take it easy.

I love this thread! So often, we tend to post problems, looking for help/sympathy, but here we can brag!

My grandson got out of the hospital, as I may have mentioned, after 5 weeks in the Behavioral Unit--rages were getting out of control--and he's back to his normal, fun self. Of course, it probably helps that his mother has done another detox and is doing pretty well with her bipolar/PTSD/alcohol issues. He's nice to his sister again--even helping her play basketball on the Wii last night before bed.

She is!! I can't help but smile. I adopted her when she was 2. She had ADHD and wasn't like my friends children, who would sit quietly by their feet playing while we talked. She was running all over the house. I was sure I had no clue about being a mother and I didn't. Then, when my son was born with Down Syndrome and a host of medical issues (he has had 14 surgeries, many hospitalizations and I even almost lost him after his 2nd open heart surgery at 7 mos), Jilli's behavior fell completely apart. I'm talking melt-down tantrums times 20. Turned out that she had Reactive Attachment Disorder. So, for a while, it was daily doctor appts for my son with specialists and therapy appts (PT, OT, ST) and counseling for my daughter. The only thing that held me together was God. Oh my goodness. I was stretched waaaaaaay beyond anything I ever thought I could do. But when you're a mom, you've got to be there for those precious babies.

Today, you would never know she ever had a trace of RAD. Her counselor said that at age 10 or 11, there could be regression. She is 10 now, so I am on the lookout for anything, but for the most part, she is very sweet. She is great with children. She has had to be with the younger brother she has. She does act impulsively without asking, but that could be the ADHD.

Thank you for the kind remarks and the encouragement. emoticon

I think I just figured out that this is where you track this challenge.

Since I'm behind, I'll post all the things my daughter did last week. She was so sweet to me and cooked me breakfast 3 times last week. Two of them were breakfast in bed, no less! It was really cold after being under my ceiling fan, lol, but she was so sweet!

Then, several days last week, she had really awesome initiative!! She got up and did her household chores and started working on her school work right away. I was so proud of her.

My 15 yr old is doing great! She started track practice this week. She is a freshman, and this year has brought a lot of changes. in addition to starting high school, she went from a special day school (she had bipolar and adhd) to a regular campus. She doesn't so well with change, so the fact that she is not having any issues with the change in her schedule and the fact that she is now having homework due to the fact of losing her study hall period for track is GREAT!!!

My daughter is doing well with controlling her emotions, and apologizing when she blows up. Empathy comes with age (she's 14)

Had Follow up ADHD appointment with Pediatrician this afternoon. His weight and height are following the desired curve. She is very pleased with how he is doing on the Vyvanse. I checked his grades via Parent Portal and less than one week shy of the 9 weeks ending he has 2 A's and 4 B's - all honors classes. He has an amazing attitude towards school I am so proud of him. Back to the Pediatrician in 4 months.

Good to hear that things are working out. Look into cooperative educational experiences you can do with the public school. Also, check into homeschooling groups to work with.

Checking back in to say that our virtual charter schooling is going well, now that we've figured most of the glitches out and gotten our hard copy materials boxes. emoticon

Both of my ADHD grandchildren are getting the hang of sitting down to virtual lessons, and going back and forth to texts, quite well, and I'm proud of their transition. I've only been homeschooling since last April (2 months of last year) so this is new for them. My grandson in particular misses his friends and recess, but he's adjusting, and we're making sure he gets a lot of "friend" time when the other kids get out of school and on the weekends.

So, yes, they're doing well today!

My son has Freshman Orientation today. He got up after the first wake up call, showered which is routine, but he also ate breakfast, brushed his teeth and fed our pets before he left without being told. Amazing since its the first day since vacation!

My goals show that i'd like to go from 148 to 118, while 118 is completely unrealistic and unnecessary, i'd LOVE to get there and indulge on some fatty foods occassionally :)

My granddaughter came home from a school supplies shopping trip and sat down, at 9 pm, to totally organize her desk, etc., for the start of their virtual charter school on Monday.

Her brother, who's 10, got his stuff all out of the packages and in his desk area.

Hurry for both!

Post here one positive thing your child is doing well.

My son is getting ready to head off to college and I have seen such a grown up man. Yesterday, I would have gladly bought his books for him, but he said no, he will do it with his money.
