Hi there, those phone calls, Luckily I have an option on my phone so I can add calls to a reject list which then automatically ignores any numbers which have been added. I also check out any numbers I don't know by searching the number on the Internet. As for calls on my Landline at home, I've registered on the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) which although doesn't stop unwanted calls completely, does reduce then significantly.

But yes I agree they do bug me a lot.

Calls to my mobile from unknown numbers, or from numbers I don't recognise.

Since the beginning of last week I've been receiving calls (2 or 3 times a day!) from the same Manchester number, and I know it's one of these companies trying to get you to claim for being mis-sold PPI. I have never had a loan in my life (except my mortgage, which is now cleared anyway), so it REALLY annoys me that these companies simply won't give up.

I never answer a call from a number I don't recognise - if it's anyone legitimate, then they can simply leave a message on my voicemail.

Hi, he came back 4 weeks ago because he'd piled on the weight at my parents and wasn't getting exercise there. She wanted him to stay there to "keep an eye on him" but he's asked us to lie if she asks and say mum kicked him out. The only other option he has is to find his own place with her because mum won't have him back, she's glad he came home. Good news is he's had Corey for the last 3 weekends so have had lots of smiles and cuddles with him.
I try not to let them put me down and when my mood is high I'm pretty tough but when my mood is low I believe the crap they say.
Anyway he seems pretty chilled this evening probably cos he's not feeling well and he's still going for the baby tomorrow so for this weekend all is ok :-)

Thanks Jude x

Anita, don't put yourself down, you are a brilliant Mum & have brought your 3 children up by yourself & are now looking to get a further education for yourself. YOU have done all this, against odds that most of us would give up if faced with. You & no-one else so be proud of what you have & will achieve. This young girl hasn't got a clue how a good family works & you mustn't let the two of them walk over you. You deserve better than that. When did your son move back & why did he come back & what are his options if he hadn't got you? Stick to your guns & now you make the rules that they should stick to whilst they are under your roof.
Good luck my friend, I'll be thinking of you.

Today my adult (only in the age sense) son is bugging me.
My son has asked for his girlfriend to stay tonight while she is here I am now allowed contact with my Grandson. I'm finding this very disrespectful but my son can't see a problem and insists it isn't much to ask. He says she doesn't want me to hold him at all because when I ask to hold him everyday I'm controlling?!?!? I don't know what kind of idea of family she has but it seems a bit twisted. This coupled with the fact my son has done barely anything in the house since moving back home even though that was a condition. I've had to fight to get him to wash up the odd time. He has sat with the other two while I've been out walking or at class but they would be fine on their own. So.. I've said no and probably just screwed everything up and doubt we'll see the baby again. I've been made out to be the bad guy again and I'm starting to believe it. This has sent me right down again. I can't seem to do anything right by anyone.

I agree with you Brandi. I used to smoke 30 or so a day. I started at 17 because I was madly in love with a boy who smoked and I didn't want him to think I was a baby! I still know him and berate him soundly. It is hard to stop and impossible unless you yourself really want to and I tried everything; hypnotism, acupuncture, Alan Carr etc etc. . On my 50th birthday I suddenly decided I was damned if I was going to go on scrimping to give so much to the taxman, I had a horrid cold and that was it. My SO says I was a lunatic for a fortnight - took to bicycling around Shepherd's Bush in London at 2.00 am and other mad things - but 15 years on I am still clear. I do know there is no point going on at smokers as most of those over 25 would really like to give up. Now I hate the smell but not the smokers. And they DO contribute a lot to the revenue.

Thinking that I could implement one of sparkpeoples own recommendations only to find that it can't be done!

The Nutrition Tracker 'Additional' gives you all the recommended vits etc needed for your daily health. But it can't be done within the ranges. I challenge you to do just one days menu matching up all the daily recommendations.

It actually restricts my veg and fruit intake and thats not right! If you do try it, watch out for the potassium levels! lol

btw - I'm not worrying about this at all - just curious if it can be done.

I'm no longer trying to do it!

No quitting, No Excuses.

What I can't understand is that a smoker wouldn't stand over a pile of dry grass and leaves burning and inhale that and say it was good for them, so that's why I can't get my head around the habit.
I would think that everyone who tries for the first time will cough and choke, so what would make anyone want to do it again? It's beyond me!

Being a very heavy (in more ways than one) smoker until just quitting 3 1/2 years ago I can see both sides. It used to annoy me when people went on & on at me to give up. I came up with all the old lines 'you could get run over by a bus tomorrow' or 'It's the tax on my smoking that pays for the hospitals'. Now I find myself 'going on' at people I work with who smoke, especially my Team Manager as her mother is dying of cancer. Trouble is, you just have to want to give up, same with the change of lifestyle, if your hearts not in it, you wont last long before you go back to your old ways.

Yes, smoking is another of my bugbears. I'm glad people can't smoke in public places, but now we have to run the gauntlet of smokers outside pubs, restaurants, shopping centres etc. Eugh!

I'm with Lynette and Pip. "Thank you"'s cost nothing and make people feel better. I'm ashamed at how many people of my age and older (grey-haired old ladies/men) just assume it's their right and don't say thank you. They'd soon moan if it was a young person behaving as they do.

Inconsiderate, lazy, too fast driving reps in usually German cars (BMW etc.)

I am SO with you on that one! I hate it most when I hold the door for the older generation who would be the first to remark if I didn't show manners and THEY are rude! emoticon

I'd like to take a pill that made me six stone. Then I could eat my way back up to ten. What a great weekend that would be. Jo Brand.

Why do people with small trolleys, when shopping, queue at the 'Hand Baskets Only'checkouts??
It took me 5 minutes longer to pay for my stuff than it did going round the supermarket. I can understand them using these checkouts if they've only got a couple of things but these people had a trolley full!
