This is a small one (for most) people but I have a hard time losing and keeping it off: 10 lbs. need to be lost.

I think I've found my replacement for Curves. After much deliberating, I decided to join the YMCA last week. They just opened recently; in fact, they are the reason (competition) that Curves closed.
I was reluctant to join because I even had trouble making myself walk across the street to go to Curves, so conveniently located. I didn't expect that I'd be willing to get in my car and drive to the Y.
But, so far, I've gone three times. Twice to their Silver Sneakers class, and, once, I just walked around the track because I was mixed up about class schedule.
I've also begun wearing my pedometer again and trying to walk 3000+ steps 4 times per week. And, using WiiFit in my basement occasionally.

Hopefully, the combination of these exercise strategies will keep me "moving". I might make additional posts in the Exercise forum and Weight forum later this week.

In 2017 I really need to get back on track with a lot of things. I need to eat healthier, less processed food and more home cooked meals. Get more exercise. Find a way to get better sleep. Get back to seeing my neurologist, whom I have not seen since about the time that I stopped using Copaxone just about 2 years ago. That one is the most important since I've recently started having problems with one of my hands. It's very weak and painful, and it's obviously not going to get better until I have someone who knows more about MS than I do check it out for me. I don't make New Year's resolutions because I don't like setting myself up to fail, but it really is time for me to at least start seeing my neurologist regularly again.

There was much rejoicing!

Ez- I am excited for you to have energy! Those seem like realistic goals to achieve.

My goals are to keep away from "hot"foods and just try and do more things around the house. I got some energy back so I want to use it and I stopped using sleeping pills and I think I'm doing well with that.
I went to a seminar last month and if I've got energy tonight I will tell you what I found out... stay tuned

I started cooking more since July. For the past 5-6 ears,we are most of our meals out. Then I discovered Schwan's. They have so many foods that are pretty convenient. I really don't have the energy to cook meals all the way from scratch very often. But we were spending so much money eating out.

Curves closed! Oh no! That is such a place safe for MS'ers to exercise.

I had to think about my goals too. I looked at my goals for 2016 and realized that I reached my goal by doing simple changes. I tried to cook as much as possible instead of ordering out. Eating at restaurants seems to be the worse for me. 2015 was a difficult year for me as I was still recovering from my huge relapse. I never fully recovered from it. It was a huge achievement for me to able to cook 2-4 nights a week.

I'll have to think about this. Thanks for beginning this thread, Barrister. I made it a Stickies.

1. This year, I want to continue working on my 2016 goal of losing 15 pounds. I'd like to get down to 122 lbs.
2. Find a replacement for Curves. Curves closed on December 23. I usually went once or twice per week, which was not enough. But I'd like to substitute something and probably increase.
3. Try to make healthy food choices. I ate way too many cookies over the holidays.

This might be a work in progress. I might alter my goals as the year progresses.

Let's set some healthy goals for 2017!!

My goals are to continue focusing on making my body stronger. My plan to achieve this goal is to:

1. Go to MS Aquatics a minimum of 1x a week. I am going to shoot for 2x a week but it is a 25 min drive for me and some days I can't make the drive.

2. Ride my bike 1x a week.

3. Cook dinner at home 5x a week.

My weaknesses is sometimes when I come home from aquatics class or the gym I am too fatigued to cook dinner. Then I order take out which is usually way more calories than any meal I cook at home. To overcome this I am going to do big pot cooking to freeze meals. This way on high fatigue days I can pull dinner at of the freezer.

If I stick to my plan of action like I did in 2016, I should be able to lose another 20-25 lbs. I did this same plan in 2016 and lost 25 lbs. If I do this again in 2017 my body should be healthier and stronger!
