I started last week also. I will buckle down from now on, we are going to San Francisco for our 33 anniversary on April 9-12. That gives me 4 weeks, I hope to get at least 15 off by then.

Great job Sylvia, don't know why the tracker isn't reading right. When I started again this year I didn't put in the .6 so I have really lost .6 more than my tracker shows. Oh well live and learn.

What the heck is wrong with my tracker??? I have lost 4.2 pounds on my scale at home - however the tracker does not show the .2 so it should read 4 pounds - but it only shows 3 has that ever happened to anyone?

Be happy today and don't worry about tomorrow!

Hello Ladies,

Warning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There is fat in the air!!!!!
Do not feel the need to pick them up or take them in. The object is to send them to someone else..... lol

Now lets see what everyone has done.

emoticon emoticon emoticon
Jabess: 1 pound lost in the air. 19 more to go. emoticon

Busymom206: 2 pounds lost in the air.... 18 more to go emoticon

Momfan: 2.2 pounds lost in the air..... 18 more to go emoticon

Goal Worthy: How is it going? Have you weighed yet?

Turman1897: That air does every time. lol Up 2 pounds I gained more than you (4 pounds). You might want to look at your salt intake. Try to stay on track one day at a time.

Iminit2winit: Have you weighed yet? Just checking in with everyone.

Clewis0607: I hope thing are going good. Stay on track.

FrankieFrog: I hope you are staying on track. Take it one day at a time.

Sylheston: I hope the scale is kind to you on Sunday. Let us know.

We have 53 more days. Burn that fat!!!!!!!!!!!!
Keep on track...... emoticon

At least we are all on track - somedays are better then others' I just take one day at a time. A friend of mine does the Jenny Craig and eats all of their foods. I would be afraid to do that one because after you loose the weight you have to eat regular food again! I rather do it the Spark Way and learn to eat the right way and the healthier way. I am turning green from all the vegies that I have been eating! Hope you all have a great day!

Today is going to be tough for exercise, I'm on phones for the afternoon at my day job because someone else is taking 1/2 day vacation. I'll have to be creative & exercise during my lunch break (along with eating lunch, doing dishes & vacuuming...).

Hmmm, not sure how I'm going to fit everything in. Luckily, I've got homemade Beef Barley soup in the fridge that I can just heat up, maybe pair it with a yogurt. I'll dance while I vacuum - there's my exercise!

My weigh-in's are on Weds.

I have to say that I am feeling pretty darn good. Not sure if it is the exercising or the eating better. Maybe a combination of both! My weigh in is on Sunday so I will post it then. Hope you guys are all doing good! Being on this challenge is sure helping me not eat what I want to eat! :-) Thank you!

4 lbs - hopefully most of that is retaining water because of sodium, TOSTARZ! If so, it should be gone by next weigh in for sure. I haven't been getting in enough exercise this week, and today won't be any better because of the double shift thing. I will get in 30 minutes during my breaks at work.

Today I am determined that I WILL NOT put my hand into the giant bag of M&M's that BF keeps on the end-table!! I also will not eat any salty snacks, as I have had way too much sodium in the past 2 days!

Hi ladies,
How is everyone doing? I am finding it hard to stay in my limits on eating. I have had a stressful week. I have stayed in the limits but barely. I hope all of you are doing better than me. Keep up the good work.

I'm up 1.2 pounds - not having a good week! But I will do better, I have revamped my program and rededicated myself to becoming healthier. I'm now working on a weekly menu, so that I don't get so out of control with my eating. I set my spark stage back to stage 2, from stage 4. Hopefully it will help!

OK, I am in. Sorry I was MIA for a couple weeks (out of town followed by a horrible sinus infection). I need this now more than ever! 20 may be a bit much for me, so I am shooting for 10 lbs. I will be starting the challenge tomorrow when I am weighed in at Curves as I am starting up there tomorrow as well. Hopefully I haven't gained too much in the last two weeks :/

Just checking in. :)
I hope everyone had a great weekend!!
Oh-- my weigh-in days are Fridays.
I pretty musch weigh myself every day. It "helps" keeps me in check of what I ate the day before and how it affects the scale.
I am reading a book right now called The Carbohydrate Addict's Healthy Heart Program. (Break your carbo-insulin connection to heart diseease) Written by Dr. Richard F. Heller, Dr. Rachael F. Heller, and Dr. Frederic J. Vagnini.

I HIGHLY recommend everyone read it. It's not a book talking about giving up carbs.
Even if you don't feel you are a carb addict, or diabetic, (I myself am both) it explains how your insulin levels affect your heart health, high blood pressure, and blood fats, cholesterol, etc.
I am not even halfway through the book and I am really excited about how this could change my life.
Maybe it could be something for you too. ;)
Have a great day everyone!

I may give this a shot, knowing that more than a pound a week is about what I consider realistic. I am not aiming for 2.5 per week, nor am I saying it is good or bad. I only know for me...I can't do that much in a week. My body goes slower and I am fine with that.

Don't worry. This is a great thread. I commend you for getting it out there! Here's to getting 20 lbs off!!!
I'm definitely up for this!
The in-laws, (2 of them) and the 3 in my family just started a challenge this morning as well. So this will really help keep me accountable.
We are each putting in $10.00. Who ever loses 20 lbs 1st wins the pot. So $50.00. Nice!
I will post my weekly weigh ins here.

GOOD LUCK everyone!!!

Well I didn't mean to cause problems. I don't think 2.5 pounds a week is to much to trim down. I also am not going to hold you to the twenty pounds. Isn't that what a challenge is to see if you can do it. If you don't make it but lost some isn't that the point? I also saw this challenge on another team's board. I am not sure I can do it but I am going to give it a try. I might be getting smaller by inches not pounds. I will not know that until I try. If you all don't want to do it then don't. I really didn't mean to cause problems

All problems become smaller if you don't dodge them, but confront them. Touch a thistle timidly, and it pricks you; grasp it boldly and its spines crumble.

I would re-phrase the goal to see who can lose the most by that time.

If we start the challenge today, with a goal of 20 pounds lost by April 30th, that means we have 63 days. It comes out to 2.22 lbs a week, which is not unhealthy (per Spark, up to 2.5 lbs a week is safe, and that is an average, some weeks are less & some are more), but like you said it can be unrealistic at times.

However, since this is a challenge goal, I personally consider it as just a motivational tool. I don't have to actually hit 20 lbs, I just have to give it my all and do all the things I know I should be doing. I hope that is how others view it as well!

10 pounds a month is unrealistic for most people and not a safe rate for a healthy weight loss. I speak from over 15 years in the weight loss industry and through university studies of nutrition and work/life balance. However, you are correct if you believe that this team needs challenges. I believe it is more realistic to ask people to incorporate more physical activity in your day as Frankie has recommended. Then suggest another challenge in a few weeks when this extra activity becomes habit.

I'm in! I also registered for the national Pound for Pound challenge, which occurs during this same time frame, so maybe this challenge will help me stay on track!

Here's a daily challenge for everyone: get an additional 15 minutes of activity today, over and above what you already have planned.

I can see that this group needs to have some challenges. Here is mine:

I challenge you all in the group to become 20 pounds lighter by April 30, 2009. That is 10 pounds a month. I am sure if you put your mind to it you can do it. I am going to give it my whole hearted try. Please post and let all in the challenge how you are doing. Let see how many can do it. See you 20 pounds lighter on April 30, 2009 emoticon
