Happy Thanksgiving.

emoticon emoticon

Day 18: Stop wasting food and don't let you be the one who is the trash can for leftover food.

Today is Thanksgiving and we are going out to eat. That should make it easy to not overeat or to have any food leftover today.

Hope you all have a great Thanksgiving in the US and have a great day over seas.

Day 17 "Don't waste food.

If you eat out, you don't have a problem leaving food on your plate, that someone else
will throw away.

If something is bad, you don't have a problem throwing it away.

When I went to WW, our leader encouraged us to throw it away when we were finished eating.

Left-overs don't taste as good as they did when you first ate them.

There is something empowering when you throw food away.

The solution is really to only make what you will eat at that meal.

Day 16: Nurturing Power of Food.

I love how some foods make me feel hungry for the foods inseason. Some foods make me think of my childhood
and some foods make me crave certain things.

Snacks and dessert are some of the hardest cravings.

Sugar and Salt is what comes to mind. It seems sugary things are something I have to keep
away from or I will keep eating them until they are no more.

I would love to bake more, but then I think to myself, "if I make it, I will eat it

When I shop and see potato chips, pretzels, or popcorn, I think to myself, "if I buy it, I will eat it.

I could eat a lot of sugary and salty things. But then I would start gaining those lbs. again.

I begin to remember that commercial for "Lay's Potato Chips" where the person
offering someone one, and he says to the person he is offering the chip to, "I bet you can't eat one". How true that commercial is in real life.

It is definitely hard to eat just one. This is certainly true when it comes to sugary and salty things for me.

Eating certain foods, if they are good, just keeps you eating.

I remember a former person I worked with, telling me, "my husband thinks because it is good,
he should just keep eating it."

She was a terrific cooks and she was talking about things she made.

I can relate to overeating when something taste good.

I now try to watch my portions of everything I eat. It isn't easy.

Old habits are hard to break. emoticon emoticon

The point of the 'two bites' experiment is to experience how we get most of the taste pleasure from the first two bites of any food we eat.

Do you have the 100 Days of Weight Loss book?

Here's the link to Linda's blog which explains it a bit better. Hope this helps

Day 15: First two bites.

It sounds interesting. Does this mean you have to eat less or more.

If you only take two bites of everything, it means you ate less calories and then can move
on to something else.

Or does it mean you can only eat two bites of everything you normally eat for breakfast,
lunch and dinner.
That would mean you didn't eat enough calories. Then you will get more hungry.

Which ever it is, I am afraid I will not be able to only eat two bites of something.

I keep my calories at between 1200 and 1600 a day. It works for me and I steadily have lost
24 lbs so far.

I think I will stay with those numbers for today. emoticon

Day 14: Morning affects Evenings.

I guess eating a breakfast helps control how much we eat at dinner.

Breakfast: Oatmeal and applesauce.

Lunch: Pastrami sandwich w/mustard and a pickle. Iced tea.

Dinner: Homemade Chicken Soup and a Cherry tomato salad w/v&o dressing.

Day 13: Oops! I forgot to eat.

This sometimes happens to me. I get involved with something and I look at the clock and say
it's lunch time already.

That's when I will eat lunch and then at dinner I will be extra hungry. I guess its the bodies way of saying it needs more calories.

I sometimes forget, because I will drink something like iced-tea and sip on it and forget to eat.

I will try to do better and become more mindful.

Breakfast: Raisin Bran Crunch w/2% cup of milk.

Lunch and Dinner combined cause I ate out with my Red Hat Friends.

I had the salmon, steamed broccoli and sweet potato fries.
Splurged on Desert: Carmel Cake w/1 scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream.
Also Diet Coke w/lemon.

I hope my weight doesn't go up.

Day 12 fuel or filler.

I am still at 222 lbs. I am trying to eat just for fuel today. So far so good.
