I was going to ask if the bootcamp videos are new ones or the same ones I've been doing already. I found the answer right here on this forum. I'm so glad they are new ones because I've been doing the New You bootcamp videos plus the older bootcamp videos. Looking forward to the new bootcamp videos!!!

MCNIC001, Some of the videos, but not all, do have printable instructions that you could print out and take home with you. For videos that don't have written instructions you could watch the videos and write down the exercises yourself to take home with you.

GRFXGIRL, This bootcamp is great for everyone, whether you're just starting out or are almost at your goal. If any of the exercises in the videos are too difficult, Coach Nicole offers tips for modifying them and making them easier.

LADYZIMA, Yes, the cardio can be any activity of your choice.

You can keep track of your exercise by logging it on your fitness page. The videos have a button at the bottom of the page that says "Add to Fitness Tracker". By clicking the button the video is logged for you on your fitness page. You will have to log your cardio also.

Is this challenge/Bootcamp something anyone can do even if they are just beginning an exercise program and have 100+ pounds to lose?
Or should I join a different challenge/bootcamp for the new year?

I just want to clarify.. the 5 days of cardio - that's our choice. Can be walking, dancing, aerobics, etc???

I'm just getting excited about doing this and trying to think of all the different aspects of this and making my goals.

Also, How do we report that we have done the daily work out video and the 5 days of cardio?

There is a button that you can click on at the bottom of the page where you watch the videos that says "Add to Fitness Tracker", that will automatically add the video to your fitness tracker for you.

Quick question on logging exercises: Are the exercises in the boot camp video's already on the exercise menu or do we have to manually type in each strength training move and guess at calories burned?

There are written instructions for some of the videos so you could print them out and definitely take the print outs with you to the gym.

Thanks Sarah. Can I do those 10 minute workouts at the gym? I'm just WAY more likely to get it done if I can do it there.

TONIABLAKE, The videos are in addition to the 30 minutes of cardio required. The videos are only 10 minutes or less in length so it won't be time consuming at all to add them into your routine. It's up to you whether you use the videos, but they are an integral part of the bootcamp.

Question: I never work out at home, but I go to the gym 5x/week. Is the challenge compatible with my existing schedule? For example, can my 30 mins of cardio be my 30 mins on the treadmill or are the videos required?

MSJULIANA, You should be able to find a ball that works for you. I have seen many stability balls that are burst proof and can hold up to 500 pounds.

XAMS503, I would highly recommend purchasing the necessary equipment (dumbbells and a stability ball) since you will get more out of the workouts, but if you choose not to you can use canned food or bottled water, etc. in exercises that call for dumbbells. You could also perform the exercises requiring a stability ball, just without the ball. It won't be as challenging, but you'll still get a workout.

In one of the informational posts on this team forum it mentioned that you could do modified exercises if you did not own the proper equipment (stability ball and dumbells). How will participants know how to modify the exercises? Thanks.

There will be exercise videos to use each day in addition to doing your own cardio.

Here is a link to an overview of the bootcamp. The overview will be more detailed with the names of the videos you will be using once we get closer to the start of bootcamp.

I'm sorry to hear all that! You can stay in the team and do what you can. To be eligible for the prize drawings, you would need to be logging your fitness minutes and then for the final prizes, you would need to meet the requirements as listed in the terms of the bootcamp.

So, if you would like, stay in the team and do the things that you can. Even if you aren't able to do all the workouts, there will be daily challenges and not all of them involve exercise - so you can follow along with those at the very least. Also, you may want to discuss this with your doctor to see what he recommends for exercise for you.

I hope you heal quickly!

I recently joined this team because I needed a workout plan for January before I joined my University's program at the end of January. It turns out, I probably won't be able to do this. I've been having knee troubles all year and due to a recent sprain, strain, tear or whatever, my doc's strongly recommending surgery on New Year's Eve to repair or remove the torn cartilage and scope the other recent injury. If it's just torn cartilage, he said I'll be off the crutches in 2 or 3 days. I'm not sure if I'll be ready for cardio soon enough to start this program. I just don't know of many ways to get cardio with using mainly my upper body. I still am interested in this group, but am I even a candidate now?

Hi - Thanks for setting up this challenge! This will be my first on Spark People and I'm excited to get started!

I do have a question - I am new to using stability balls and I see they come in different sizes. What size do you recommend getting? (I am around 5'2'' if height is a consideration.)

Thanks!

You can start with whatever weight is comfortable to you and work up if necessary. I think 5 pound weights is probably what most people will use.

The videos for this new bootcamp are not up yet. There will be a post and probably an email before the bootcampt starts telling you how to see the new workouts.

You could also substitute workouts from prior bootcamps that were translated into printable format by Coach Nicole. She is unable to do that for all the workouts, but there were a few of them made. Check the Fitness articles under Sparkpeople workouts.

I will be posting them in the Daily Workouts & Challenges forum each day. We will actually be using the same 7 videos each week, so you will know what the videos are after that first week, but the daily challenges will be different.

Hope that helps!

All videos used for the bootcamp are on the site and free, so there is no need to purchase those. emoticon

I do not have any of the work out dvd's from the Sparks website and due to financial problems not sure if I will be able to purchase them. Will I still be able to do the Body Bootcamp?

That will not affect your eligibility for the contest. You can adapt it and make it work for your schedule.

YAY!!! Another challenge!!!

I do have a question, though... I have an unconventional work week, and more times than not, my workout days fall on the weekends! Will this affect my eligibility for anything? I figure 5 days is 5 days, no matter how they fall!

Thanks!

Holly

Please ask your Bootcamp questions here instead of starting a new topic to ask a question.

Thanks!
