I DID IT!!!!!!!!! I made it to Bethlehem emoticon 80.2 miles done :)

We leave for Dallas tomorrow so I will be MIA a bit.

I'm going to have to bow out of this challenge. Sorry guys. I have only done about 15miles so far and so I won't be able to complete the challenge by Christmas - work, study etc (and perhaps a bit of lethargy too!) just crept up on me. I guess I have to do better with time management! It is such a great idea though - and keep on going guys, you're doing great!

What a terrifically fantastic challenge. I was sitting here reading it and my 9 year old son said "WHAT are you reading?" because my smile was so big. I'm so in. This will help me with my 5K training and I love the idea of walking to Jesus!

December Team Challenge: Bearing Gifts to Bethlehem

Christmas is a special time of year...a time for family, the giving and receiving of gifts, and the celebration of the birth of Jesus.

Because it's a very busy month, the challenges are going to be kept very simple. It will be comprised of two parts. There will be a main month long challenge and mini missions each week along the way.

As a team we are going to celebrate and challenge ourselves in a special way this year. As we all know, the time leading up to the birth of Jesus was spent by Mary and Joseph traveling from Nazareth to Bethlehem. Do you know how far that is? Well, if you take a direct route, that's about 80 miles.

This leads me to the month long challenge...we're going to walk from Nazareth to Bethlehem! This is going to be an ongoing challenge starting Dec. 1st and running through Dec. 25th. Now I use the term "walk" loosley because I want you to cover these miles by any means you want: walk, run, walks with Leslie Sansone,bike, swim, etc. Now I don't want you to think your regular workout has to be traded in for something that must be measured in miles so you also earn "1 mile" for every 15 minutes of other types of exercise such as strength training, aerobics, etc. Please feel free to count miles in quarters....every little bit counts!

If you make the 80 mile journey to Bethlehem by midnight on Christmas Day, you earn a 500 point bonus. Not only that, you also earn a real life prize in the mail! It's not even about who gets there first...I just want all of us to make it there! The overall points leader at the end of the month will also receive a very extra special real life prize in the mail.

The second part of your challenge is going to be a mini mission each week to accompany the month long challenge. This is where the "bearing gifts" portion comes in! Each week we are going to look closely at the gifts we give ourselves.

Look in the team challenge forum for the December week 1 mini mission where you'll also find trackers for the challenge and the very first gift you give yourself.

It's going to be fun so jump in with both feet and get to walking...we have a long journey ahead!
