I like these products when I can find them. They don't seem to have it in our stores consistently. And when they do, they don't stock very many cartons.

I am from BC and just picked some up today at Safeway. The brand I got was Lucerne. They have it in pint and liter sizes.

A couple of other brands to try...Andersons Dairy and DariGold. They may be regional brands, but worth looking for.

Wal Mart carries Great Value Fat Free Half and Half. It is worth trying. We do have a Kroger store not too far from us so will check that out too. Also, noted that Wal Mart also carries Shamrock Farms but did not see the Fat Free Half and Half.

Margie, the thread is referring to Fat Free half and half. I use Shamrock Farms brand which is carried by Trader Joes. Land o Lakes makes one too. I buy the Land o Lakes at Smith's (Kroger is the parent company). I don't know what they have in Iowa...King Soopers, City Market maybe? Good luck finding it...I know you'll love it!

I'm confused, Cindy. Read the posts previous to yours and don't know what product exactly you are looking for. Would love to help out.

Anyone know where to purchase this in Iowa? I live in Altoona but have never been able to find the fat free half and half. I have seen it referenced in a lot of recipes.

I use the Trader Joe's brand all the time, and Land O' Lakes is my other default brand too! I don't know how the fat can be stripped out and I'm not sure what's left after it's gone, but it IS good and works for so much. I used it in garlic mashed potatoes on Saturday night and doubt anyone could tell the difference!

This came up in one of the other threads a few weeks ago. I bought some (the Land of Lakes brand) and found it wonderful in recipes. I used it to make meatballs, also used in a white sauce for pasta.

Thanks for sharing this as I love to make Cream based soups like Mushroom soup but haven't due to the fat content in cream. I will definitely try this.

is my go to staple for making creamy sauces, soups and desserts. It's thicker than Skim milk and tastes better than the fat free evaporated milk I used to use. I use Trader Joe's brand, but Land o Lakes makes a decent flavored one too. Try it and let me know what you think!
