Found some CHOCOLATE Pea Protein in the store room - this should prove interesting... brought it up, not will explore how to "use it up, wear it out, make it do"

Hmmm... Might need to shift this topic to a recipe forum - will keep exploring.

Will be studying Protein powders - what is your favorite kind and brand names? I have used whey based ones but if going dairy free, that eliminates that!!! Going to be doing some reading, tasting and deciding. Do you have a muffin sweet or svory - remember I have to do gluten free for celiac.

Dairy free day 2 - no slip-ups I am aware of - did some label reading while shopping and picked up on container of a soy yogurt - I also have starter for kefir or yogurt that I can use with almond or coconut milk. Missing the freedom of cottage cheese or other cheeses in protein sources - got some Canadian bacon to try. Other ideas???

Personal challenge for the month of April : remove dairy from my diet ...DAY 1=1 error
I am struggling to lose weight and have not been successful - suspecting inflammation with dairy so am going to work hard this month to eliminate it - only one slip up that I am aware of - some milk in chocolate mix I had made up for my home-made moccas [Dark cacao powder, protiend powder, stevia/erythritol sweetener, sea salt, and vanilla when it is mixed with hot water and coffee] - will mix a new batch using veggie protein powder in the next few days - will run few samples through first. I usually only have two or three moccas per week but will increase that during market season nd since I want to build up strength starting this month, may do them more this month too.

Really enjoying riced cauliflower in many different meals and feeling that it is a definite positive in my lifestyle.
Routinely using berries about once a day - adding in occasional apple and citrus
now to get nuts into daily use - have walnuts chopped into apple/oatmeal dish for next two days - added a teaspoon of hemp hearts into each dish also.
Enjoying salmon a little more often but not getting in fish as often as I should do.
Feeling good.

Richard - loving your Santa picture!! HaHaHa Or is he called Father Christmas down under??
Was wondering about glutathione - I keep seeing it pop up - I think It must be time to research it sooon.
Christine, I love your suggestion of using emoticons and you show good leadership skills in organizing a potential there - Will be watching to see if you can refine one for us -

I have just had busy weekend with daughter bringing home her young man to meet the parents - we like him and delight in seeing her joy - praying it will all work out but I didn't do much sparking as a result of the nice dinner, talk time and then hubby and I thinking and talking since they returned to the city and a few long phone calls from her too. Excitement!!!

So for my Saturday Anti-inflammatory foods... Beef roast with ginger and onion and carrot, pineapple, mandarin orange, banana salad and other fresh vegie tray .
Sunday was left overs for lunch and eggs and fruit salad for breakfast - proud of low carb eating that is another part of my eating plan to prevent full blown diabetes and accomplished well on Saturday and not so well Sunday - kept it under feared 100+ but not under goal of 50. Today is new day nd healthy eating back in force.

Oh my goodness, Linda - you have really shown your commitment with all your posts here.

I'm new to actually taking part in the team, and I do have a suggestion here.
It needs some work to refine it and get it workable for the team, but the basics -

Set a number of weeks - 4 or 6 or 8 or whatever.
Set a lifestyle challenge for each week, for the number of weeks involved.

For Example, from a team I was in recently as a team leader -

"Week 1 - Living The Good Life

Let's see how many of us can do this - not just for the first week, but cumulatively right through the Challenge.

emoticon If you fully complete that challenge for that day.
emoticon If you've really tried to cope with that challenge for that day, but not quite succeeded.
emoticon If you weren't able to try or started but didn't get very far!

Week 1 Template

Drink Your Water - 8 or more cups per day
Sa . . . Su . . . M . . . Tu . . . W . . . Th . . . F . . ."

"Living The Good Life

Week 2 Template

Nutrition Tracking - everything you eat and drink each day -

And so on through the 8 weeks of that articular team.

***Anti-inflammatory foods are critical in all my food choices - continuing to review the lists and purposefully eating them as opposed to keeping a list of "foods to avoid".
So I'm going to go back to practice of sharing some of the ANTI-INFLAMMATORY" food I each EACH day and try to get in a new one each week

Thurs: Raspberry tea, Dark Chocolate, boiled egg ...rarely eat JICAMA but got one and included it in morning saute'd veggies in egg scramble.

Personal challenges continue in my life:
Nov 13 --- Mid month Monday evaluation and going to restate goals for November
***Want to see ONEderland by Christmas [lowest has been 204#]. 11/10...208# claimed
***Gluten Free for celiac required and consistent
***In bed 8 hours per night and nap in afternoon if less than that
***Intermittent Fasting 12-14 hrs from dinner to first bite of breakfast. NOT longer than 14 hrs
***LOW CARB goals of 25g M-W-F and 50g S-T-Th-S
***goals of 4000 to 5000 steps and 3 flights of stairs...
***Anti-inflammatory foods are critical in all my food choices - continuing to review the lists and purposefully eating them as opposed to keeping a list of "foods to avoid". Success shown and validated by cardio Dr that commended me for healthy heart after major tests and evaluations 3.5 years after getting two stentsand Dx with leaking valves. Now the stent are clear, functioning well and the valve leakage is "Minimal" heart is heathier than 995 of people my age!!! I am thankful!!!

Another crazy week of appointments and away from home for something every single day - I am totally run down - immune system is weak and I just feel tuckered out - today did NOTHING!!!! Sent Hubby off to his social thing alone and just sat and sipped clear liquids and ate clean proteins - finally beginning to feel like I am starting to detox - another couple of days like this and I will be ready to start a new month and better health.

Challenge ideas???
Being thankful every day of NOVEMBER
Continue to keep plain clear water at the front of my liquids,
continue to cut carbs and appreciate simple clean eating.

Home from Vacation and will be in and out of home the next 10 days but still going to get back to healthy efforts - the trip was wonderful and only added 4 pounds so portion control really helped lots!!! Am feeling tired and sluggish so looking forward to our usual simple eating and lots of liquids to flush out the "not best foods" of the last 20 days.

Started with simple eggs/cabbage/spinach/cheddar omelet and lots of tea for breakfast,
Baked chicken breast and grated carrot salad for lunch
And planning huge green salad for dinner with little bit of beef sniddles and water, water, water....
Nice to be home with no social graces required or expected!! Enjoying our own puppy and the "grand-puppy" of our daughter's as she is out of town working today. Planning a good nap and detox today, Sat. and Sunday before the "rat-race" to Dr appointments starts again on Monday.
Daughter got some MCT oil to experiment with - looking forward to positive results of that.

New foods or refreshed ideas of eating them this week:
..."riced"cauliflower is spoken of often in food groups as low carb - finally trying it
...fresh prunes - is on the low glycemic list - so canned a few pints and have been enjoying them raw - no teeth makes the dried or partially dried ones hard for me to navigate.
...finish up a jar of sunflower butter -will never be a favorite like almond or peanut butter
...enjoy one pound package of ground lamb meat this week - this is an old favorite just don't very often spend that much money on my meat - but choosing carefully how I spent my grocery money I splurged and wil enjoy to the utmost!!
...found new "gluten-free blueberry-fig bars by "Nature's bakery"

...Trying to work in celery each day this week to learn to enjoy it.
...Daughter brought up a jar of collagen - a powder to add to various other tings like coffe, smoothies, soups to improve hair, skin, nails, joints and bones - first try this orning in my eggnog - didn't know it was there!!
...Carrots chopped fine in tiny food processor made excellent lunch salad
...Dark chocolate has been missed so will include a bit more of it in my mocha in the morning - set out the Hershey's 86% bar to use a cube of it.

New foods for me this week:
***Avocado oil mayo - going to try this - is a processed food but mentioned in a few articles to be a better choice that regular and I don't like my home made version.
***Celery - not new to me but have short changed it this summer and just feel hungry for it - going to start with it in my omelet in the morning and try it in several salads through the week - hoping to get in larger servings than usual - with no chewing teeth , it has to be finely chopped for me
***Cooler mornings here as we head into fall and wanting a "hot spot of tea" so bought a new Pkg. of Green Tea - Pomegrante with Raspberry - then when I got it home I re-read the ingredients and see Chamomile in it which I am aniphylatically allergic to!! Hope they will exchange it for another good something.

September ...at least 4 Anti-inflammatory foods per day + one new one per week
9/8 Friday is a "fast down to 500 calories" day for me. Foods: kefir, eggs, berries, cantaloupe.

New food for the week is Okra - I got just a few at Farmer's Market - then got lazy and didn't try anything fancy - just chopped fine and added to omelet/egg scramble. Will look for more and try it again.

September - try this again....at least 4 Anti-inflamatory foods per day + one new one per week
9/6 Radish and put the greens into the omelet too!, Bok Choy, eggs, 5spice, avocado

"5 spice" I make a mix a little different each time -putting it into "Pill daily reminder container" usually a sea salt, turmeric or curry, cinnamon or ginger, Italian seasoning or one of its components, parsley or cilantro, tiny seed -[flax, sesame, chia or celery] - different weekly but same principle of adding spices to my omelets.

Healthy fats/nuts/seeds-
Fish and Sea food-
Whole soy-
Asian Mushrooms-

When I look at it this way... It really stuck out at me that I need more nuts/seeds and less animal meats in my diet! Something to work on! Also learn about mushrooms and sorbet.
5/08/17 Still thinking about this - doesn't seem logical for my three fasting days if I continue the every-other-day-fasting-lifestyle but would be good for my "up days " when I aim at 1200 calories. Hmmmmm

I read what Dr. Weil says about oolong tea. I'm still not sure if it is healthier than green. Perhaps so. The studies he stated used subjects who drank tea vs non-tea. I would have liked to see something that compared the different teas. I just love my green tea with jasmine. Not sure I would be willing to change.

Dr Weil's pyramid is my first GO-TO but am going to explore other authors and articles and will share... started today with being sure I got in some anti-inflammatory foods and noticed that are inflammatory but goal is at least 50% this first week coming up and then gradually eleminate more of the flamers and eat more ANTI-inflamers.

What's everyone's idea of what an anti-inflammatory diet is? When I search the internet there is so much contrary info given. I am just wondering what you all think.

I like the recipe idea, but from what I read about the anti-inflammatory diet... it is highly individual. For example, I can't go sugars, gluten, dairy, and possibly nightshade. It's different for everyone isn't it?

I like the idea listing the anti-inflammatory different foods.

How about people listing their victories. For example... Acne, joint pain etc gone since adhering to it.

There is a team goal of eating 4 anti-inflammatory foods per day and trying one new one per week - I would like a challenge or place to share those four foods and new one daily.

Example:
March 30: strawberries, carrots, salmon, almond butter New to me this week=Oolong tea

What about a challenge somehow for tracking food each week we have to post in daily if we've tracked food for the day.

At the end of the week the person who's been the most consistent in tracking all foods (breakfast, lunch and dinner and snacks if you eat them) every day gets a team goodie?

Would this been any good? Just a suggestion. emoticon

I'm not sure of any challenges geared towards inflammation... I just know there should be more team participation. But I think it's like that in a lot of teams, where people do not post.

I am new to learning about inflammation, so I'm not really sure...

Maybe we can go by a point system... and whoever gets the most points gets the bonus sparkgoodie!

For example: for getting in some exercise 2pts.
for trying a new exercise 4 pts.

For reading about inflammation to self--educate 4 pts.
For encouraging another spark person or commenting on a blog...

etc. emoticon
