I have gotten to a point where Hot Ice is my best friend at night, I'm really hating the stairs in my house as well, especially after lower body work out; but wouldn't trade it for the world.

Just read Redgale's post about seated workouts. Just the inspiration I needed. Thank you team!

Well, here I am in week 3. I've been really going for it - walking 30 minutes a day, sometimes twice a day. However, the aftermath is severe knee pain. Went to the orthopedic doc yesterday and found out I have a meniscus tear. He gave me a cortisone shot.

First, I feel frustrated that I've finally made the commitment to exercise and we actually loving it (except the PAIN). Clearly, this injury is an obstacle though not insurmountable.

Second, surgery is likely. Another obstacle: physically, financially, and with my schedule.

My plan is to try to let this unfold without freaking. See if the shot is beneficial. Keep moving. And reserve judgement until I've let this all sink in. Can't help but feel a twinge of disappointment and anger.

When I'm at school I park far away. It's about a quarter mile uphill walking too school from where I park. And instead of taking the straight walk to each building I will walk the long way around. That way I get to take in the scenery and find new places on campus. Next week I am going to find the track and walk/run that in between my first and second class.

I was out of town on a business trip for Week 3 so I had to mix it up! I took walks to explore my hotel and the area surrounding it and took the stairs instead of the elevator.

Decided to start exercising in the morning so just finished 30 minutes going 16 miles per hour on the bike. Got a good sweat in and will get a power walk in later in the day.

Congrats to those who are doing well and to all others just starting off.

My Week 3 was TOUGH. As the first full week of school I got my butt kicked from meetings, class switches, form collecting, test planning, lesson planning, quiz writing, staff meetings, organization, keeping up between classes and teachers, long days, long rides, student meetings, etc.

This week I found myself dying to relax, shut off, and stay on top of things, I feel like I've become all work and no play - even exercising had become a "must" do instead of a "want to" do.

Nevertheless, I kept up with my 5k training and began leaving the house earlier to catch a faster bus that is also further away. This step had the disadvantage of shortening my wake up so I don't think I'll be able to fit in even 5 minutes before I have to catch my first bus. It does however have the added benefit of giving me a 650m walk to my second bus - WITH A PEDESTRIAN OVERPASS that means every morning I walk 650m PLUS I take about 70 stairs :)

In addition to that spice, I joined the 28 Day Boot Camp challenge to really mix things up and help me to not neglect the rest of my body while I'm training.

I hope this week I can clean up my bike and maybe start riding that some places. I also want before the upcoming holiday (6 days from now) to tackle my menu planning. Last week I thought I was eating nothing but junk this week I did a better job to eat more healthy but STRUGGLED to meet my minimum calorie intake - leaving me to indulge on high calorie stuffs.

Hi Mrz B. I went to the Intermediate level from the Beginner level of my Abdoer today -- and laughed all over! Couldn't do but about a 5th of it. BUT, I did what I could, did what I could of what I couldn't do right, and decided...just another Process!

I've got two neighbors who also want to lose weight, but have no puter, so I've started a Five Pound Streak with them, to get them jump-started & me too, of course.

My personal challenge is that I have the yo-yo battle every time I hit the 9 number on the next ten pounds. All I can do is meet it head on...I succeeded with it 2X and lost 20 pounds...so I know I can do it again....however long it takes.

I love SPARK....they sure do make me feel like they Want me to Succeed, and it Feels Good.

Have a Rainbow Bright Sparkly day. ~ReeGee

So I just finished Week 3 and it was interesting. I definitely met my 10 minute workout goal the whole week, but at the end of the week, it was done in a very non-conventional way. I attended a science fiction convention this weekend (starting on Thursday through yesterday) - this is one of my regular annual vacations. There is a ton of walking and standing in line, so I know that I got my 10 minutes (and then some!) in each day. I weighed myself this morning and I lost 3 pounds this week. Hooray for a good finish to Week 3! emoticon

REEGEE, your message is inspiring to me. You've chosen to be positive and that rubs off easily onto others. I LOVE your idea about the colored paper chain! It's a beautiful way to express your feelings about your weight loss. I'm definitely going to use that project myself. I suffer from low self esteem, and I think the chain would be an opportunity for me to begin feeding positivity back into myself instead of leaching my own energy with negative thoughts. Good luck on your journey and please keep posting messages because you never know how what you feel and think could really help someone else. Thanks!

Starting week 3 now. I have already developed the good habit of power walking on a daily basis.
I do a minimum of 2.5 miles daily but today am going to increase my mileage and incorporate running intermittently. My grandson comes with me and is getting me to run with him.
Hoping to see a continued improvement in my stamina by the end of the week emoticon

You know...I was just reading this and it occurred to me that it just might be time to make Peace with myself. This is me now. This is where I'm at for now. It's about perfecting, not about being perfect & beating myself up until I "get" perfect. I've completed two whole weeks, had some ups & some downs...this is the Experimenting stage as I learn what works from what does not. Also learning more of what triggers binges. So I tossed the whipped cream cheese and whole grain crackers which turned out to have enough sugar to trigger overeating. oops! emoticon Note: somebody said they made a paper-clip chain to track pounds lost...so I bought some colored paper and I'll make circle chains, like I did way back when. Can even write farewell notes to the pounds on the strips. hehe If it isn't fun, I am not doing it, so there! LOLOL Happy Success to us all. ~ReeGee

Okay, I'm hooked. Met one of my goals - I like to exercise. I feel like something is missing if I don't. I just met my goal of 2000 fitness minutes this month! and next month it will be 2500. And it's stuff I like to do - working up a sweat working in the yard, going to the gym and working out, nice long walks with steep hills. I knew my body needed this, but there were so many other sedentary things I wanted to do. Now exercise is at the top of my list!

I am walking daily on the treadmill at least 15 minutes a day and sometimes more outside, too. I am also going to start an upper body tone up routine with Spark Videos. I think I will start small from a sitting position. The other thing I am thinking about is getting a balance ball for the computer station to work on my core. Wish me luck!

I am now doing 30 - 45 min of exercise a day, 30 of cardio. Finding the 10 minutes a day to exercise was not as difficult as I thought it would be and have been able to slowly increase each week. Have been using my gazelle to start but tomorrow I will start using the eliptical. Cant wait til it is cooler outside and I will add walking outside either around the neighborhood or on the beach. I love Coach Nicole's workout videos, especially the shorter 10-15 minute videos that focus on upper body, and the like.

I've had really great times this week intentionally focusing on variety. My variety during Week 3 included: new full body strength training program; tennis; elliptical, treadmill, stationary bike and walking. I think that's a pretty good mix. Definitely keeps me from being bored.

I also choose what I'm going to do based on what I need. For example, on a day I want an intense cardio workout, I'll get on the elliptical. Lighter cardio workouts mean treadmill or walking. Stationary bike can go both ways.

Also, I've got a small group of co-workers that enjoy taking an afternoon fitness break. We'll go downstairs to the onsite gym and do a light 20 minutes on the treadmill. If nothing else, that doubles my 10-Minute Daily Exercise Challenge, even though it's on the light side.

Just found a new level of Sparkness. I just bumped up 70 minutes yesterday (not all at once) and 95 minutes today all at once. Amazing how yesterdays felt so impossible and today I got to a zone where i had to have a logical voice for stopping to get hydrated and leaving enough to be able to go at it again tomorrow. Surprised how 10 on a daily basis was hard, 15 got tiny bit easier....then the leap to 70 and today...where did that come from. I think I need to wrap my head around it being ok if tomorrow is backed down a bit.

Just finished my first run in years!!!! I walked for most of it, but in the end, out of about 30 minutes, probably 7-10 minutes was running. Incredible!!! Also, rather than drive to the other side of campus for a meeting today, I walked over. Invigorating, and I got a chance to talk to some students and colleagues on the way. YAY ME! emoticon

I'm doing 35-45 minutes of exercise each day. Considering I couldn't do 5 minutes when I first started this is a victory for me!

Have been walking 4 miles a day and today will hike with friends. Feeling energized and consistent.

During week 3 I am trying to keep the momentum going. I find at this time, one my clothes start to fit better and my positive attitude is up, I have a tendency to self-sabatoge.

For week 3 I watched a workout video and began to incorporate frisbee golf as an added activity once a week. I'm also hiking along a creek to help change things up a little.

i need to concentrate on doing more walking, since that typically helps me to relax. i can play with my dog Ziggy for a few minutes, and she is happy. I also need to learn to say no to things either i can't do or really don't want to. i would like a punching bag for those times that i am so angry that i want to hit someone.
