My goal this week is to put me and my health first. I'm so stressed about the house and lack of help, finances and constantly running that it's affecting my sleep.

Still in week one. Working hard to lay out my stress as it happens. I have not figured out how to control it yet, but if I get it out there, I am sure that will help, right?
So as of right now, that is my starting goal. Express my stress as it happens. And then, when it hits me, take a deep breath before moving forward.

This is my first week and my goal is to control my snacking habits, ensure I get 5 -6 meals daily and exercise daily for a minimum of 30 minute but 3 day must be for 90 minutes. Get off the coach in the evening and get moving with "Body Gospel DVD". Interact with friends and plan some fun activities.

Keeping busy (getting things done) helps me to feel less stressed. Hmm. Well, actually, having my home and life in order makes me feel less stressed, and that requires that I get things done. It is important, though, that I break the tasks down so that they are manageable, or I become overwhelmed. I give myself permission to clean out a shelf, rather than a whole cupboard, and I give myself credit for doing this. Avoiding perfectionism is a biggy for me. (I'm working on this.) I also exercise regularly. It has a huge impact on my stress levels. I would like to start incorporating things like relaxation yoga and meditation. I even bought an eight minute meditation CD to ease me into it, but haven't used it yet. emoticon That could be a goal for this week.

my goal this week for dealing w/stress has been to get in at least 10min. of exercise and plenty of rest. After taking the quiz, I realize that I also need to take some "me" time, and develop a strategy for time management, and become more comfortable talking to friends/loved ones about things that are causing me to feel stressed out. I realize I cannot do all of these things in one week, but they have become goals to work toward.

My goal for this week is to fit me into my busy schedule. I need to include down time and fun into my plan. A visit with a good friend or maybe a hot bath with candles and good music sound like a nice way to go.

My goal is to be less stressed with my kids. I often lose my control with them when they do not do what I want, when I want. I will try to figure out nicer ways to respond to my children instead of just commands.

After hearing of the death of two more friends, I woke up this morning feeling very stressed, and a headache to boot..well what to do, sit and brood..or get busy..well I chose ~get busy~, and busy I was, cleaned the entire living room, top to bottom, I put some tunes on, and sang along, and did a few dance steps, before I knew it I wasn't stressed anymore, I was in a happy mood..so this worked today!

My Goal for week 1 is to be less stressed at work, which would make me less stressed when I get home, and stop worrying so much about homework. Monday at work was a GREAT day. I found allowing my employees to help me out with things I usually do alone helped to get everything done AND THEN SOME! I also bought an organizer and am listing things I HAVE to get done and checking them off as I go. It's helping me feel more accomplished.

I interviewed for a way more stressful job than I'm used to. I won't be broken if I get it or I don't - but I'm getting more stressed each day, wondering if I got it or not. I'd like to know one way or the other, you know? If I do get it - our income will grow so financially things should be MUCH better but it's the little things, like not being the one to pick up the kids from school - those kinds of things that are gonna kill me.
This week I'm going to enjoy my summer. I'm going to enjoy being with my kids. I'm not gonna let the job-thing stress me out anymore (that's why I joined this team, right??).
My hard core goals this week?
I'm going to go for a walk with the kids and play another game of Bingo (we look for things on our walk and cross them off as we find them). I'm going to make our living room clean and cozy so we can enjoy the weekend in it - maybe play some boardgames or Mario Kart?. And I'm going to start my Stress Journal. I should probably stock up on notebooks, just in case I DO get that job!! :)

I'm not really sure about my goals...I know I need to get more quality sleep but 8 hours during the work week doesn't seem possible. I got 7 hours last night which was an improvement over the usual. I think I could also benefit from some planning/organization tools to help manage ordinary things like making dinner without becoming overwhelmed.

Work on saying NO to one thing a week I would normally just give in to.

Whether it's going out with the fiancee when I really want to stay home and read or taking on some of the extra work for a coworker who has fallen behind (within reason.) I need to start saying no, not to everything but to the things that are running me ragged.

Try to go xanax free except for totally out of control panic attacks. I'm probably only taking 1-2 xanax a week (my doc wants me taking one a day! I was a zombie!) right now but I'd like to not need it except for extreme cases. I will try to use meditation and breathing exercises to take the place of the popped pills whenever possible.

I have depression issues, and stress is a huge trigger. Seeing as depressed periods are little fun and a very inefficient way of spending one's life, I would like to learn how to avoid stress as much as I can!

I am so with you on that. I tend to be a type a personality also. I have a stressful job and tend to bring it home. I even stress when I'm just hanging out with my kids and thinking about work. i am trying to let go when I'm home. I just started Spark a few days ago. Getting some exercise is helping.

Stress - Type A personality which I would love to be able to just let things go - really let things go. Learn to relax and enjoy all that life has to offer. Enjoy my children, they grow up too fast and I know that it doesn't matter about the material things that it is family and love that matter - so I want to revamp my focus and work towards that. Leave work at work, leave the house untidy and see and talk with my children! One day at a time :)

Hi, I just joined this stress-(ful) or (less) challenge; anyway, MY life feels stressful to me. Sounds like I am not the only one feeling that way. Ha! Ha! I KNOW I am overweight; I know what I NEED to do about it; I KNOW I cannot do it alone! Oh, how I hate/dislike admitting that!
I am a retired, Army Officer who is officially Obese. And getting weight off is not so easy as it was to put it on in the first place!
EXCEPT the fact that I am unemployed (being retired and all) and physically/medically unable to complete schooling that would allow me to be employed in something I might enjoy, and/or finding it difficult or impossible to believe that I am this old and/or this fat, nothing is wrong with my life. Ha! Every once in awhile I feel sorry for myself, so I tend to just move on and not roll around in the muddy thick of it all.

My stress mainly comes from living out of balance and disorganization. So my goal is to focus on the most important things (my relationship with God, my marriage, and family) rather work and to get and stay organized.

So for this week I will spend some quiet time reading my Bible and praying. I will plan quality time to spend with the family. I will also organize a box of notebooks that have been sitting in my closet all summer.

This weeks goal is to organize my home office space - as clutter is one of my biggest stress triggers ... and it will allow me to spend time on some of the craft projects (scrapbook cookbooks, and cards) that I would LIKE to do :)

Another goal is to spend 1 song doing moon salutations to relax.

I think my stress goals should include: not worrying about other people, not letting other people involve me in their problems when I'm not a part of it, and the biggest one, letting go of past stress.

Trying not to stress myself over things that are out of my control. I am having to have surgery for carpel tunnel and the unknown amount of time I will be off work is scary for me. So the waiting to get to see the doctor is a big stress for me!

I'm having a hard time adjusting to retirement. I loved my joy and enjoyed working. My co-workers were like an extended family. The company closed it's doors and I was forced into early retirement. Sometimes I feel useless.

I too read all the articles, and as much as I would like to stop and not have all this stress it is just my nature, I am retired, have a comfortable life, people would say, what has she got to stress over..well I do..it kind of makes me a bit angry that I can't seem to control this ! My husband keeps telling me, I can't solve everyone's problems, and stop worrying about them so much..I know he's right...~~BUT~~

OK NO.1...Let the kids solve their own dilemmas!

2.....RELAX....enjoy life..all my worring isn't going to change a thing!

3...do all the things that make me happy..find the time to do them! (Reading..swimming..walking..gardening!)

I was reading some of the suggested articles and realized that many of my problems could be controlled by me. Actually, I could control my reaction to all of them, but I need to be more aware.
So, my goals are:
1. Take a minute or two to look at situations and see if I am able to contribute or if I need to just butt out.
2. Stop being so competitve with others by negatively comparing myself to them. I look at people and wish that I had their legs, arms, or some other body part or I wish I didn't look like I do. I want to stop doing that, because all it has ever done for me was helped me justify why I am eating a package of Oreos or some other empty caloie food.

I joined because I have so many things to juggle simultaneously right now and today my migraine decided to make a visit once again. This year, I've had episodes a few times too many and it's already a fact that they are stress-related. I'm doing my best not to get worked up about even smaller details, but when there's a bit too much going on, the tolerance level for that goes down the drain. I'm an active person with many interests, so I don't see the amount of input decreasing anytime soon. Therefore, it's probably best to focus on how to deal with it instead.

The stress-level tracker is already known to me, but I haven't been consistent at using it, so this needs to be addressed close to daily from now on. Keeping a real stress journal is also a great idea.

Regards,
A Perfectionist

first, find the energy and will power to get something moved from old house to new this week. its been 11 months and i have got to get this done. second, take some "me" time daily-even if its just 5 minutes, i need me time. third work out more, great for my stress levels, fourth, get something going on estimates to fix my car. and last but not least take care of some pressing matters that i keep putting off

I am so full of stress these days, I have to get myself back to a healthy weight for many health issues that I have, also just went through several deaths in our family (Siblings)seems to have left me in a big slump, find myself dwelling on things, losing my temper, quick to find fault...I was always an easy going person, so find it very difficult to live with these constant mood swings.

I am going to make sure I work out everyday, take the time to go for a nice walk outside where I can enjoy nature and try to relax

I am going to do some breathing exercises to calm down all the mood swings

Work toward a healthy life style, making changes as to how I use food for comfort!

I am going to pamper myself a little a few times a week, I need me time badly, always doing for everyone else it seems!

I have to *not* involve myself in others problems, I need to disassociate myself, there is nothing I can do, it is up to them to try to solve things in their own lives! I need to deal with my own issues right now!

I have set a COUPLE goals for myself... the first is to get my 2-3 yoga sessions in on top of my cardio/ weight training each week... and my second is to take 30 mins each day to do some reading... I am a navy spouse and we are beginning a LOT of "mini" deployments leading up to a big one the end of the year and I have two small boys that feed off of me... I MUST keep myself calm and relaxed to be able to keep THEM calm and relaxed! :)

I am obsessed with weight (mine) and weight loss as well. It really is mostly what I think about all day. I can hardly concentrate on anything else and wish I could stop.

Paulinlim, I am right there with you. Except I would become so stressed about my weight, that I would eat more. I would just give up on myself and call it quits. So my goals for this challenge are to live by the famous proverb: Don't sweat the small stuff, and remember, it's all small stuff. I am also looking for a better way to handle the stressful situations that come up in my life, rather than letting them fester in my brain until they consume my well-being from the inside out.

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift, and that is why it is called the "present".

I joined this group because I am trying to overcome an unhealthy obsession with my weight. I was constantly anxious about regaining weight and would get overly distraught when exceeding my calorie budget. Perfectionism was destroying my happiness. Now I am trying "intuitive eating" and am freaking out about the weight I have gained, but at the same time, another part of me is relaxing and facing my worst fear-- that I would regain the weight. I am still at a healthy weight and exercise a lot, so I realize that all the demons are in my head.

I now realize that happiness, not thinness, is the ultimate goal.

I want to overcome self-criticism and free myself from judgmental, negative thinking. Stress causes me to binge and start the vicious cycle of hating myself. I long to break free from my obsession with food.

Really trying to just let myself physically relax and stop overthinking things. Often times my negative self talk and thoughts allow the enemy into my life to cause harm.

One way I cope with Stress is by eating high fat foods. I recognize that this is causing my stress, not reducing stress. Also, I allow myself to get worked up over things that our not important and can be managed in a more productive way. I need to stop reacting to little things. People cause me anxiety. I like to avoid people whenever possible. I worry to much about what people think.

1. Eat healthy meals and train myself to believe that high fat meals are bad for me.
2. Don't sweat the small stuff. Communicate in a kind tone and things will work out.
3. Don't worry about what people think and just do what I need to do and be friendly.

This is what I'd like to accomplish:
1. Stop putting off things and letting the stress build up.
2. Get organized to avoid situations that cause stress.
3. Prep the night before to make mornings easier.
4. Take time to do something for myself each day.

I am here because I have always had a problem with stress and I think I have now subconsciously started to 'swallow' my stress, and pretend it's not there.
So here are my goals i'm starting with:
1. Learn how to let go of stress without letting it build inside.
2. Learn to separate myself from other people's problems without disconnecting myself from others.
3. Learn to not hold myself back from trying new things because of my anxiety.

emoticon I am here to learn to control the stress in my life. I know that I can't control anyone but myself and my reactions. So my goals are
1. to let go of the frustions over things I have no control over.
2. to talk more to those I live with about feelings
3. to continue my journey and track calories and exercise.

emoticon team! My challenge goals for this week:
1. Continuing counting instead of getting frustrated when my son is not listening to me
2. Continuing organizing my schedule in a way that I am not shoving everything into one day and stressing myself out
3. Continue to exercise regularly because I find that reduces stress tremendously!
4. Continue to take time out whenever a situation comes up that is out of my control, and then go back to it and come up with a plan to solve it!
