69 and counting. Have a nice ten mile path that I walk a couple of times a week in good weather. The path was a railway right of way and track when the New York Central crossed Ontario very flat..Have signed up for a ten k for late January.

Hi! I am 69 years young. Just had my 2nd knee replacement on Oct 14th. In out patient therapy but now I have 2 bionic knees and I am looking forward to getting back to my favorite form of exercise.....walking. I am hoping training for this 5 k will ease me back into daily walking. Good luck everyone. June emoticon

I am a young 69.
Have lost over 192 lbs in the last 2 yrs.
Walked my official 5K .9/18/11 in 53 min. on a replaced right knee, bad left knee.
Had the left knee replaced on 9.19.11.
One week later walked a mile.
Today walked 4 miles.
I am going to train for a 10K.
And by next year who knows what I'll be training for.
Life is good.

I guess I'm the "baby" here. I am 36 years old. Just tried to start a jogging program a few weeks back and ended up with shin splints so bad I could hardly walk. Found a good podiatrist though who gave me some exercises to do to strengthen my muscles. I was so happy to find the walking 5k program on here as my doctor is not allowing me to jog anymore for the next 2 months, but I can walk. Once I'm healed, strengthened and have inserts for my shoes I can ease back into the jogging. I'm determined to get healthier so I can keep up with my three kids!

Hi, I'm 72, will be 73 next month. I did three 5k's last year without really doing any training for them. I love this program and want to beat my best time so far. My last 5k there were 5 of us that were over 70.

I'll be 58 in April and this is the first time I've even committed to any kind of walking program. I'm hoping it will help my knees. I'm losing weight (30#'s) so far and have at least 100 more to go.

Hey, I'm 51 and if I can do it you can, too, no matter what your age. Some of my most memorable race moments (1/2 marathons) have been getting to talk with racers in their 70's and 80's. I only hope I can keep going that long. emoticon

There's a difference between interest and commitment. When you're interested in doing something, you do it only when it's convenient. When you're committed to something, you accept no excuses; only results.
When you get to a plateau, think of it as a landing on the stairway to your goal. And
maintenance is a lifelong plateau, so a bit of "rehearsal" for maintenance isn't the worst thing in the world
Breathe in love & compassion.. Breathe out peace & forgiveness.
