DAY 2 Tuesday, walked only 16 mins, but I didn't feel well & NCIS was coming on!

Day one complete, day 2 will happen on Wednesday, really excited to share this experiences with my mother.

Day 2 was fine, Day 3 has yet to happen. Got in 1 lap (.25) and just couldn't take it anymore wrong shoes, hadn't waited long enough after eating and back was hurting. But it is not the end. I will not give up.

I an just joining you guys. I am starting my training tomorrow. I have done this 5k before. Last year in August and hubbie did the Sparkpeople 5k with me. We did complete it. We were so happy. A month later I had back surgery then another. It went bad and I got a infection. I had 3 more back surgeries, a long hospital stay, and a long recovery. I also have had four knee surgeries since 2009 and 2010. Between painful knees even after surgery and a bad back that 5k was very important to me. I wanted to do the 5k before my back surgery as a symbol of faith and fight. Now I am fighting again to get back in another 5k. I have filled out an application for me and hubbie for the Habitat for Humanity 5k Walk. Can't run, but will walk it. I want to do the Sparkpeople 5k again for the training. It is a great training program. By the time we finish it we will be doing the Habitat for Humanity 5k. This was a goal I set for myself about three months ago. Several complications had come up and delayed my training. Health issues and then my sister died two month ago. I was set back with grief and still am grieving. However, my sister always said I was strong and wouldn't let me quit when things went bad. So my husband and I agreed we needed to do these two 5k's. The Habitat For Humanity will be in memory of my sister. I will wear something pink. Her cancer had returned and was far worse than before. Just a few days after she found out it came back, she died of an aneurysm. So this is for her as much as it is for us. Good luck everybody.

I don't know if I mentioned before that I might have shin splints, but I did my week 2 day 4 already. Today is a cross train day that yesterday should have been. I plan on biking later. Then get the move on for the 2 mile tomorrrow!

Yesterday was my first cross train (biking) though I also had some walking since a friend showed up.

Today, I did day 2 and I look forward to another bike ride tomorrow!

Ended up doing day 2 yesterday and now day 3 today. Had to take movies back to the library so I decided to walk. Ended up being 2 1/4 miles there and back.

Hi Everyone,
Just starting back after 8 mo....I put back on all the weight I lost last year. I could not get into the program after the loss of my son, it was a accident due to bad weather while he was working. He was only 39 years old & the father of 4 beautiful children, the oldest is now 7yr. & the baby was only 4 weeks old when Dan lost his life. I'm new too posting so please bear with me. The good news is I think I'm ready to try again. I did a 3 mile walking tape today & making better choices when eating.

I started yesterday with my Day 1 fifteen minute walk. I just walked around the curve and west to the beach and found that it took exactly 7!/5 minutes, so I turned around and walked back home. I was a little winded when I reached home because a neighbor ladie came along and started walking with me and chatting. I had to answer her questions about what I was doing out walking and at the same time keep up a decent pace. But it felt great to be out there walking and I really inspired and motivated myself! emoticon

I just joined this group today because I eventually want to walk in my first 5K. I wanted to run it, actually, and was in the running program here but my doctor advised me to start slower.

I am already walking 1 mile every 20 minutes but I'd like to increase it. I also walk home from the gym three times a week at 3/4 a mile (one way).

I've never tried to walk more than 2 miles before or faster than 3mph, though. I can't walk too fast because it's very uncomfortable faster than 3mph (I have short legs, heh). After 3mph I need to start running.

Day 1, Week 1 begins for me tonight when I get off of work and hit the treadmill.

I completed day one today: 15 minutes on the treadmill 3 mph, level 2 incline. Its a slow start, but at least its a start.

Regarding tracking: I believe that SP takes weight into consideration for calories burned as long as you are tracking your weight with SP. SP may calculate differently than other apps. If you go into "fitness set up" on your "my fitness" tracking page you can enter how many calories you burn in a week. If you prefer to track your calories burned on another device then you can enter the total weekly calorie burn there.

Other suggestions anyone?

I have a question on tracking. When I track the miles and minutes I walk there's no space for the calories burned. SP automatically calculates them, but apparently it does not take into consideration the weight of the individual. I have an app on my iPhone that considers this factor and it's marking 179 calories vs. The 79 calories calculated by SP. Is there a way I can inout these calories? Believe me there is a calorie difference when youmare at 317 lbs!

Started over again yesterday. 35min on new machine at the gym. Goal is to go 3 times a week for 3 weeks. Seems so simple, but I know it isn't. Need to start somewhere to lose 10 - 15 lbs.

I started yesterday, Monday August 19th did my week 1 day 1. I did 15 minutes on the treadmill for .71 mls. Tomorrow I will walk my mile for Day 2.
Today is day 2 Wednesday August 21st I will be doing my 1 mile walk today.
Day 3 8/24 I did my 1.5 mile walk on the treadmill in 34 mins.

I did Day 1 and Day 2 so far this week :) Going to map out the 1.5 mile near my house and try outdoor walking for the first time ever here- praying there are no dogs in this neighborhood lol Wish me luck! emoticon

Actually started back walking on Tuesday, July 16. Walked with a group of motivated runners & walkers and complished 3.1 miles. Walked on Wednesday, got in 1.14 miles in 21 minutes. Joined this group on Thursday, walked 1.14 miles in 21 minutes again, and was able to log in two days (out of order by date) but I am checking in! 1 MILE today in 20 minutes....I am getting there!!
